1 WELCOME 2011 ARTS ACADEMY STUDENTS! The PURE Star Volume 4, issue 2 october 2011 PURE Academy Office Hours Monday to Friday, 10AM-6PM Saturday, 9AM-2PM Sunday, CLOSED PUREwear Retail Store Hours Monday to Friday, 10AM-6PM Saturday & Sunday, CLOSED BOO!! It s halloween (on a monday)! It has come to our attention that Halloween falls on a Monday this year! PURE management has decided after much thought & discussion, to CLOSE CLASSES FOR HALLOWEEN so that all parents, children & instructors with families who celebrate this yearly event can fully participate in their family Halloween activities. STAY TUNED for notifications about class make up times from your individual instructors. Don t forget to dress up for class during the week of October 24th to October 29th! Hopefully you can modify your costume just enough so you can still fully participate in the lessons of the week. Open Classes Acting Class Exception Open Classes for PURE classes (parent viewing) will take place in November. Stay tuned... For all acting classes, including recreational and triple threat, we will be hosting our open classes on Wednesday October 5th and Thursday October 6th. Stacie Suitor will be starring as Maria in TK s The Sound of Music in November during our actual Open classes week and will therefore have a substitute teacher at that time. We offer parents of actors these dates as an alternative to see their little actors in action with Stacie. The following classes will be left open if you wish to sit in and observe: Wednesday October 5th *OPEN CLASSES in ACTING* Mini - 5-5:45pm Jr - 6-7pm Teen- 7-8pm Improv - 8-9pm Thursday October 6th Jr. Triple Threat - 4:30-5:30pm Mini Triple Threat- 5:30-6:30pm Production Triple Threat - 6:30-7:30pm LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER FOR PURE ACADEMY SINGERS Experience our new and improved choir, Academy Singers beginning Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm. 5 PURE Monthly Awards The PURE Monthly Awards are a way for the PURE Staff to recognize deserving students. Throughout each month instructors nominate students in their respective disciplines who have been demonstrating all of the behaviours outlined in the Code of Conduct found at pureacademy.ca. pure dancer This Months PURE DANCER is Lauren Matesic. Lauren is participating in several new classes this year, and we are so happy to be able to see her smiling face so often! Lauren is confidently taking on all the challenges in class and excelling in all areas! She is a kind, thoughtful and hard working young student who is always ready to dance and try her best! Congratulations, Lauren! pure musician This month s PURE Singer Award is given to Zachary Moore. Zach comes to rehearsal with energy and enthusiasm to spare. He is friendly to classmates and helpful and encouraging to everyone, Zach has an amazing ability to harmonize, learn his music and lead with his beautiful voice. Welcome back Zach you are a treasured part of the PURE Academy Singers! pure actor Our Pure actor of the month is Heather VanWaes. Heather is new to the drama program at Pure and is proving to be a force on the stage. Heather has a positive and supportive attitude in class and is pure heart Our Pure Heart of the month is Anne Marie Ceccacci. Her daughter Makayla is on Pure s PAK Team & Anne Marie has been a powerhouse in organizing our first fundraiser of the year! Anne Marie has volunteered PURE s People willing to step out of her comfort zone for the sake of creativity. We are so excited to see the amazing things Heather will do this year! Keep up the great work! pure triple threat Our Pure Triple Threat of the month is Naomi Fehr. Naomi is a natural on stage! She participates in exercises and really commits to what is asked of her in class. Not only is Naomi willing to push herself but she is also showing a real leadership role in the triple threat program. Thanks for taking risks for improving your skills Naomi! Great work! Florence Performer Our Pure Florence performer of the month is Kate Denkers. Kate enrolled in musical theatre and then decided to try stretch class as well! Kate has such a positive attitude and brings a great vibe to both classes. She is a great role model for other students and steps outside the box to try anything new. Kate is a wonderful free spirited girl and is already blossoming into a talented dancer! Thanks for your spirit Kate! her time & resources in order for our dancers to benefit from this upcoming fundraiser for their future Competition costs. Great work Anne Marie!
