1 Summer, 2017 Dear WCHS Student and Family: Enclosed in this packet you will find information about the exciting summer SPORT opportunities at Whittier Christian High. These summer programs will give you a great chance to get to know the coaches and get ready for the upcoming year. We have a great group of coaches who love the Lord and who love to help their athletes grow in the sport and as young Christians. Please check out the various fliers and look for instructions for signing up. It is possible for you to be involved in multiple sports at WCHS! If you have further questions, please feel free to contact the coach or me at (562) ext You will also find a Medical Release form enclosed in this mailing. This form MUST be completed by the parents AND the doctor in order for you to participate in the summer and/or during the school year. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE FIELD OR COURT WITHOUT THIS FORM, SO YOU WILL WANT TO GET TO THE DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY (TO GET THE PHYSICAL EXAMINATION) AND TURN IT IN! The Medical Release can be brought on the first day of your summer camp OR it can be turned in to the School or Athletic Office OR you can download it online when you do your online Athletic Clearance. *SEE THE ATHLETICCLEARANCE.COM INSTRUCTIONS ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS PACKET. If you mail in your Medical Release, please make sure to write Attention Athletic Department on the envelope. 3 Online Clearance. Easy as VISIT 2. REVIEW the tutorial video for a quick reference instructional guide. 3. CREATE an account. Click the register link to start an account. Provide a valid address & password. Note: It s important that you include a valid address because verification is required prior to registration. 4. Once you create an account you will have to VERIFY your account by reviewing your and clicking on the link. If the is not in your inbox, make sure you check your junk or spam folder. After you click on the link, you will be able to start the clearance process. 5. Now LOGIN at using the username & password you created via the instructions above. 6. SELECT the New Clearance button (upper left corner) to get started. 7. COMPLETE any required fields for student information, educational history, medical history and consent. 8. PRESS submit and you have now completed the entire registration process. 9. All of this data will be electronically filed with your school athletic department for review. An will be sent to you upon approval of your students forms. -PHYSICALS- When completing the online clearance process, you may scan & upload your completed physical or download & print. - If you upload a physical, it will be attached to your son or daughter s profile for review. - If you download a physical, you can still complete the clearance process, but you will need to remember to walk-in your documents to your school athletic department. -TRANSFER STUDENTS- Each CIF section requires special forms when a student is transferring from one school to another. Make sure you are adhering to all of the eligibility and transfer rules. The online athletic clearance process may not be the only forms you are required to complete. -SESSION EXPIRATION- If you are using a public computer or leave your browser session open, make sure you (a.) save all of your work and (b.) log out to protect your information. The athletic clearance system will automatically expire and log you out of the system, if your session is idle. -OTHER SPORTS- Once you complete registration, you can reload all of your data without having to enter it again, thus saving time. 8 The 2017 WCHS Football Team is ready to begin summer workouts and we want you to be a part of it. This is a very important part of our program for the success of our season. The following is all of the information needed for the upcoming summer months. Camp will start on May, 29th for all players. Camp will end on July 8th. Practices start at 6:00 a.m. SHARP and end at approximately 8:00 a.m. We will be working on the fundamentals of football, speed training, learning our offense and defense and weight training on a daily basis. Practices will run on Monday through Thursday. The cost to play football is $ This fee is for shoulder pads, helmets, thigh pads, knee pads, hip pads, thigh pads. The fee also includes tournament fees, and your spirit pack which includes 2 shirts and 2 shorts. The boosters also provide the boys with bags, sweatshirts and meals. You will be able to break it up into two (2) payments, if needed. The first payment of $300 is due by Thursday, June 8th and the second payment of $300 is due by Thursday, July 6th. In accordance with C.I.F. policies, WCHS Football s dead period will be from July 7th through July 30th. The only activity allowed during this time is weight lifting. It is strongly encouraged that families plan their vacations during this time; however, we realize that new players may have already made plans. If this is the case, we ask the player to contact Coach Gradilla. *ALL INCOMING FRESHMEN/NEW PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND CAMP. Freshman players and parents will have an opportunity to meet with coaches and current golf parents in early June. Our summer camp will run from July 5 - July 21, We will have workouts 5 days a week for up to 3 1/2 hours per day. Exact times TBD.
