1 2018 Clinton County and 4-H Fair Cheerleading Competition Thank you for your interest in this year s cheerleading competition! The competition will be held on July 12 th at the Clinton County Fair Grounds. The cheerleading contest is open for all teams statewide and will be similar to the rules and regulations of the Indiana State Fair Cheerleading Competition. Please read the terms and conditions below for all performance details. Competing Divisions Jr. High/Middle School Junior Varsity Varsity* *Depending upon the number of Varsity team entries we reserve the right to divide this division into Small Varsity and Large Varsity. Small Varsity would be any squad with 10 members or less. Projected Schedule (time approximate depending upon number of entries) July 12 th 4pm-5pm Team check-in 5pm-6:30pm Practice time -Teams will be given exact practice time during check-in 7pm Competition start time Entry Information Announcement of all Award Winners will following a short intermission. 1. All entries must be made in accordance with the terms and conditions. 2. Entry forms must be postmarked no later than midnight, July 1, The non-refundable entry fee is $40 per team. Late entries, postmarked between July 1, 2018 and July 6, 2018 will be accepted; however in addition to the entry fee per team, please include a $25 late entry fee. 3. Appearance numbers will be assigned by a random draw. You will be advised of your appearance number and practice times on the mat upon check-in. 4. 2 OFFICIAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS 1. The Clinton County Cheerleading competition is open to Indiana junior high/middle school or high school game-cheering squads. (A game-cheering squad is one that cheers in actual game situations.) 2. Each participant, male or female, must be currently enrolled in an Indiana junior high/middle school or high school and must be a member in good standing of the competing game-cheering squad. 3. Squad members graduating from high school in 2018 or after are eligible to compete; 2018 graduates are not eligible. 4. An Indiana school may enter its varsity, junior varsity, or junior high/middle school squads in the competition. 5. The eligibility of all participants must be certified by the cheerleader coach and high school principal or athletic director, both of whom must sign the official entry form. 6. Junior varsity and varsity squads may NOT compete together. 7. Junior high/middle school and junior varsity squads may NOT compete together. 8. Freshman squads that are selected by their high school as junior varsity squads may compete in the junior varsity competition th, 7 th, and 8 th grad squads may compete separately or may be combined in the junior high/middle school division. 10. All spotters must be member of the competing game-cheering squad. 11. Any violation of eligibility Terms and Conditions will result in disqualification. If any violation of the Terms and conditions of the 2018 Cheerleading competition is observed, a school s coach or adult designee must file a written protest with the Cheerleading Competition Committee the day of the competition prior to the presentation of awards. The final decision of any written protest will be made by the Clinton County Fair Council Chairman. 12. Performance: Total performance time is two (2) minutes and thirty (30) seconds for the Junior High/Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. Squads going over this time will receive ten (10) penalty points. Music may be used at any level but may only be used for up to one (1) minute and thirty (30) seconds of the total performance time. Squads going over this time will receive ten (10) penalty points. 13. The announcer will tell the squad they may take the mat. Once they are on the mat, the announcer will say, You may begin. The timing begins with the first word or motion after the you may begin directive. Timing ends when one member of the squad signals by a wave to the judges that the routine is done. The squad may then exit the mats. 14. The dimensions of the performance area are approximately 40 dep by 40 wide. 15. The performance area will be matted for safety. Any squad going out of bounds off the designated performance area (mats) will receive ten (10) penalty points. 16. Each participant must compete in the appropriate uniform of his/her school. 17. Jewelry should not be worn during the performances. 18. Pom-poms and signs are the only prop permitted for this competition. 19. Applicable safety rules will be enforced in this completion. We will be following the National Federation Cheerleading Guidelines. It is the coach s responsibility to abide by these rules. 20. Judging: There will be three judges for each division. Each judge will score all areas of the competition. The combined total of all three judges will determine the top squads. 21. In addition, a penalty judge will be seated with the other judges and will score all penalties. The penalty judge will record penalty points on one penalty sheet for each squad. Any penalty points will be deducted from a squad s combined total score. 22. Ties in all divisions will be reviewed and broken by all three judges.

3 23. The total possible points from each judge will be 100. The basis for judging is as follows: a. Motion Technique/Execution 10 possible points b. Crowd Appeal/Voices 10 possible points c. Degree of Difficulty 10 possible points d. Jumps 20 possible points e. Standing/Running Tumbling 20 possible points f. Stunts/Pyramids/Tosses 20 possible points g. Overall Routine/Synchronization Transitions 10 possible points 24. Presentation of awards: Names of the top three finalist will be announced and all trophies will be awarded after a short intermission following the large varsity portion of the competition. 25. At the end of the Fair, a complete list of finishers and their points will be ed to all cheer coaches whose squads participated in the competition. 26. Video-Taping: Videotaping of the competition will be allowed. You may videotape from your seats, but please use courtesy while taping. 27. Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather, all attempts will be made to hold the contest. In this event an alternate location has been selected. The alternate location will be Frankfort High School (1 S. Maish Road, Frankfort, IN 46041). A decision will be made by the Cheerleading Coordinator and the Clinton County Fair Council Chairman to determine location. Each cheer coach will be notified via phone and the day of the competition if the alternate location has been selected as the competition site. 28. The Cheerleading Competition, Cheerleading directors, committee persons, the Clinton County Fair Council members or sponsors are NOT liable in case of injury or accident during participation in any practice, competition, awards ceremony, or fair. 5 I hereby acknowledge that I have read the Official Terms and Conditions rules and responsibilities attached to this application and that I will comply with them in every way. It is agreed that the Clinton County Fair, council persons, committee members, directors, Russell Excavating, or the Clinton County Cheerleading Competition assumes no liability for loss of property or by reason of any claim for personal injury, including death. The cheer coach/sponsor and school principal of each performer herein releases and discharges the named above, its component members and their successors from liability by reason of injury to property, and/or persons, including death, which may occur within or upon the Clinton County Fairgrounds or any named alternate location in any manner connected with use therof by this person who is names above as a contestant or performer. The contestant/performer and cheerleading coach/sponsor agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Clinton County Fair and its agents, officers, committee members, and employees from all claims and suits including court costs, attorney s fees, and other expenses caused jointly or solely by an act of omission of the contestant/performer. This entry form must be signed by both the Principal and the Cheerleading Coach/Sponsor.
