The two teams both visited BYU on February 16 where SUU edged DU by only one tenth ( ). DU is now all-time against Southern Utah including 15-6 under head coach Melissa Kutcher-Rinehart. Southern Utah last traveled to Denver on January 9, 2016, a meet that DU won SENIOR NIGHT CELEBRATION Monday will be the last home meet for DU s three seniors: Nikole Addison, Claire Hammen and Leah Lomonte. Addison has competed regularly on three events throughout her career and has several all-around appearances. Since the start of the 2017 season, she has competed on vault, beam and floor in every meet and owns career highs of on bars, on beam, on vault, on floor and in the all-around. She has won 10 event titles including nine on floor. Her tenth title came on vault this season when she set a new personal best of STORYLINES Hammen has competed in 17 meets throughout her career, highlighted by her sophomore season where she competed on floor in every meet and on beam in every meet but one. During the 2016 season, she set career highs of on beam and on floor. She returned from injury in time for the postseason last year including at the NCAA National Championships. She has missed the 2018 season due to injury. Lomonte returned for a fifth and final year of eligibility in 2018 after missing her junior year with an injury. For the last two seasons, she has been a bars specialist for DU, earning a new career high of in As a freshman and sophomore, she made appearances on all four events,

KEEPING BUSY For the first time this year, Denver will compete twice in the same week. DU opens the week with Monday s home meet against Southern Utah before traveling to Oklahoma only four days later on Friday, March 9. Also at Friday s meet will be Arkansas and Arizona State. WHAT TO WATCH FOR Vault: For only the second time this season, DU competed with six gymnasts on vault last week with freshman Emily Glynn making her collegiate debut. Junior Diana Chesnok had the team s highest mark, followed by freshman Mia Sundstrom. Sophomore Maddie Karr has the highest RQS on vault for DU (9.890), and Addison s is second-best on the team. STORYLINES, cont. Assistant Coach: Jay Hogue Vol. Assistant Coach: Jessica Lopez personal best (9.800). All six of DU s scores were 9.800s or higher, led by Karr s and Schou s Karr and Addison have DU s highest RQSs at and 9.890, respectively. EYE ON THE RANKINGS In the first week that rankings were determined by RQS, DU retained its No. 12 spot nationally and held rankings inside the top 20 on all four events. The Pioneers No. 6 ranking on vault ties the program record for highest RQS ranking on the event. DU is also ranked No. 10 on floor, No. 12 on beam and tied for No. 20 on bars. Karr became the first DU gymnast since Jessica Lopez in 2009 to hold national rankings on all four events and in the all-around simultaneously. Both have earned 9.900s multiple times this season, and Sundstrom and Chesnok each have a mark of at least as well. Freshman Lynnzee Brown returned to the bars line-up after missing two weeks with an injury and tied her career high of Her bars RQS (9.855) is second to Karr s (9.895) on the team. LAST TIME OUT Denver traveled to Toledo, Ohio, for the Elevate the Stage meet, tying with then-ranked No. 6 Michigan with a for the win. For the second straight week, DU tallied a on bars to tie the sixth-best score in program history on the event. Karr and Glynn earned a share of the bars title while Schou tied at the top of the podium on beam. It was the first time this season that DU fielded full line-ups of six gymnasts on all four events. Career highs were set or tied by Chesnok on vault (9.875), Karr and Glynn on bars (9.900) and Kern on floor (9.800). ABOUT SOUTHERN UTAH The Thunderbirds hosted their last meet on February 23, narrowly topping visiting Iowa Autumn Jorgensen won the all-around title. Twin sisters Megan and Madison McBride shared the vault title, and Kirsten Yee took home the bars title for SUU. SUU will compete twice this weekend, starting with a home meet against Washington on Saturday, March 3, before traveling to Denver two days later.
