1 Welcome to our newest members Covering the State of Montana October 2015 Hello Big Sky Folks; October 2015 Presidents Message... It s hard to believe but the calendar says that the fall season has arrived and our 2015 Montana summer is history. I hope everyone had a good one. I know we certainly did. I also know that everyone who recently attended our September rally at the Devil s Elbow State Park on Hauser Lake will agree that it was a beautiful place and a great rally. Thank you Gene & Susie Farr and Gary & Marsha Drosten for hosting. Thank you to each and everyone of you who participated in a rally this summer and especially those of you who hosted one. Next year is already looking good as two rallies are currently being planned. More information about them in this newsletter. Dixie and I plan to point the coach south around late October, depending on weather of course. The current plan is to spend a few weeks in one of our Western Horizon membership parks in and around the Palm Springs area. From there we ll go to Yuma around the middle of November. Let s keep in touch and maybe we can have a Montana get-together a time or two while there. It would be a fun time for sure. Our wish is that each of you will have a wonderful and safe winter where ever you spend it. 2 Secretary Message Big Sky FMCA Rally, September 18, 2015 Devils Elbow Campground Helena, Montana Hosts: Gene & Susie Farr and Gary & Marcia Drosten The second business meeting for 2015 was called to order on Friday, September 18th at 630p.m. by President Mike Teague. There were 22 members in attendance. A quorum was present. Mike thanked our hosts and welcomed first time attendee s, Ken & Marilyn Miller and guests, John & Ginger Lord of Billings and Dale & Nancy Paulsen of Helena. Secretary s Report: Minutes from the June 2015 meeting were read. A correction was made to the Treasurer s Report and the minutes were approved. Correspondence: Dixie gave an update on the Big Sky Chapter By-Law s revisions. The changes were submitted in July and she was advised that once the committee was elected at the Governing Board meeting in July they would review our changes and let us know. The changes bring us in line with the new National Format. Treasurer s Report: Susie gave the Treasurer s. Beginning Balance ~ $5, Income ~ $ for dues, rally profit and interest. Expenses: $ for attendance awards, club supplies and ink for newsletter. Ending Balance as of Sept 8, 2015 ~ $5, Wagon Master Report: Gene Farr advised we had one rally scheduled for the third week of July in Polson. This will be hosted by Mike & Dori Tucker. Gene told the group we still needed 3 more. Becky Hagen said that her and Bob as well the the Clumps would host a rally in Missoula the third week of June. Gene thanked the future hosts and asked everyone to think about where we could have an Aug. and Sep. rally. He will be making calls to members. Board of Directors Report: Mike Teague gave an overview of the Governing Board Meeting in Madison. The report was submitted by our Temporary Delegate, Alma Preszloff. The FMCA Assist Program was used 43 times. Future National Rally s will be held in Perry, GA in March 2016 and Chandler, AZ in Feb New Business: Mike addressed the fact that next year is an election year for our club. All positions need to be elected. At this meeting we need to elect a nominating committee of three. Mike advised the group that this committee calls to solicit interest in the positions. Susie Farr, Dennis Ogle and Dixie Teague volunteered to fill the committee positions. Dori Tucker made a motion to accept the nominees and Gene Farr seconded it. All were in favor and the motion passed. The nominees will be presented in a 2016 Newsletter and elections will take place at our business meeting in August The new officers will take office October 1, Mike gave an overview of the duties of the President and Vice President positions. Dixie did the same for Secretary, Susie for Treasurer and Gene for Wagon Master. Mike also advised that he had copies of the duties for members to read and that it was also on the FMCA website. Susie advised that she will continue in her role as Membership chairman and Newsletter editor. However, it was stated that the Treasurer position should be separate. Mike advised the group of a RV social media group called Rvillage.com. He told people to check it out and see if they were interested in participating. Announcements: There were no other announcements. The next business meeting will be held at the August 2016 Rally. The next will be on May 1st with 2016 rally information in it. I m starting a new column for next year and will invite the rally host to write a short article about their rally. Nothing fancy... just a few highlights. I am putting one about Devils Elbow in this newsletter as an example. By the time you receive this newsletter Gene & I should be in our new house. We are not going south this winter, going to stay here and make sure the new place is winter ready. We will be thinking of you in that warm weather. Montana Fun Fact! Every spring nearly 10,000 white pelicans with a wingspan of nine feet migrate from the Gulf of Mexico to Medicine Lake in northeastern Montana Club Supplies Ink for Newsletter Balance as of September 08, 2015 $ Rally Report Devils Elbow $ $ $5, We had 14 coaches in attendance including 2 guests who became members by the end of the rally. Everyone arrived on Thursday, Sept. 17th. Susie, Marcia & Gary greeted everyone as the other host, Gene, had to be at his house for an installer. The weather wasn t always the best but we didn t get rained on. We had a nice fire (firewood supplied by Bill & Lois) a couple nights and mornings. Friday morning we started with a continental breakfast and Friday night a pot luck featuring grilled hot dogs (grill master was Gary). Everyone brought a delicious side dish. During the day most everyone did their own thing; Ken & Marilyn Miller brought their boat and fished every day. After a continental breakfast on Saturday a group went to Gates of the Mountain for a boat tour. Others fished, lazed around, and some shopped and drove around the area. For dinner we drove to the Grubstake. Sunday morning was spent saying goodbye while enjoying continental breakfast.
