All Participants MUST Attend Opening Number Practice on Friday May 30 4pm-Twin Valley E/M School. Casual Wear for Opening Number-(TRAIN Theme-MUST wear a white t-shirt with blue jean material bottoms (pants, shorts, skirt, overhauls) at practice you will be given a Red Bandana to wear with your outfit). Winner, 1 st & 2 nd places will be awarded. Winner will receive a crown, banner, a gift and $50 prize money/jr. Miss-$100/ Miss Division-$ st & 2 nd place winners will receive a crown and a gift. Stage Shots will be available upon request. All Winners MUST report to photographer directly after being crowned for group picture. First Pageant starts at 4pm sharp and will continue every half hour through the Young Miss Division. An intermission will be held before the opening number of the Junior and Miss Division. Pageant will flow through age groups depending on number of participants, so girls must be ready to go on stage at least 90 minutes prior to their age group. 2 RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY It is my wish to participate in the Miss Buchanan County Fair Beauty Pageant to be held on May 31 st, 2014 at the Twin Valley Elementary/Middle School sponsored by the Buchanan County Fair Committee. I understand, appreciate, and acknowledge that property damage and injuries are common to such events. I fully assume the risk of such property damage and injuries, and I participate in this voluntarily and with my full knowledge of the inherent risks. I hereby waive and release any and all rights that either my heirs, successors and assigns or I may have against Twin Valley School, Buchanan County, its Board of Supervisors, their agents, servants, and/or employees, arising from my participation in this event, including, but not limited to property damage and injuries. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless all of the foregoing from any claim which may be made by me or on behalf by other third parties which might be made against me by others, arising from my participation in the foregoing event. This waiver shall remain valid and may not be unilaterally rescinded by the participant. This form is to be signed by participant or if participant is less than 18 years of age to be signed by the parent or legally responsible guardian. In addition to the release and waiver of liability, signing this form acknowledges that you have read and fully understand the 2014 Miss Buchanan County Fair Pageant Rules. Also, by signing, I give permission for my child s name and image to be used to advertise other pageants and to announce the winners of this pageant in the local newspaper. 3 2014 Miss Buchanan County Fair Pageant Rules 1. The Contestants compete in the divisions based on their ages on the day of the pageant. 2. Contestants Do Not have to reside in Buchanan County to participate in the Fair Pageant. 3. Contestants must not be married, never have been married, and never have had a marriage annulled. Must never have given birth to a child, cannot be pregnant or be a parent. Must be of good health and moral character having never, at any time, been convicted of any crime nor have any criminal charges against her, and must never have committed an act or engaged in any activity which is or could be characterized as dishonest, immoral, indecent, or in bad taste. This includes MySpace, Facebook, and any web pages or any other electronic means. Must be a naturally born female, a citizen of the United States. 4. Past winners may compete again if they have moved up in age division but will forfeit their crowing opportunity or they have waited 1 year in-between titles. No consecutive back to back title in the same division is allowed. 5. Contests will be judged on Natural Beauty, Overall Appearance, Modeling, and Personality. 6. Contestants should wear pageant-style dresses that are age-appropriate and compliment the wearers. Short dresses are allowed for contestants 12 & under. The cost of a dress does not factor into judging. 7. Make-Up is allowed but should be age-appropriate and enhance the natural beauty of the contestant. A contestant should not alter her appearance to look like an unnatural standard. The use of anything fake, such as hair extensions, is discouraged, as well as obvious make-up, especially on babies and small children. Older girls over twelve are allowed more leeway. The cosmetics should enhance, not alter the contestant s appearance. It is ok to use subtle make-up to compensate for bright stage lighting and to bring out the features of the contestant. But, if the make-up is too strong, especially for contestants under twelve, and not age-appropriate, points may be deducted at the judge s discretion. 8. Each contestant s name will appear in the program as they will appear on stage. Do Not ask for certain position in the program or line-up. 9. The First Contestant to complete registration form and pay will be the last in group line-up. The numbers are determined by the dates form and entry fees are received. 10. Contestants are NOT entitled to a refund of ANY fees paid to the pageant. Refunds of entry money will ONLY be given if the pageant is cancelled completely. 11. The decisions of the judges are FINAL. Talking with the Judges while they are judging is prohibited. 12. Individual score sheets and Master Score sheet will be available for viewing during posted times. Participants may only view their score sheets. 13. Good sportsmanship is required at all times by contestants, parents and guests. 14. Please Do Not ask who will be in your age division, as this information will not be given to you. 15. One family member or helper per contestant will not be charged admission on the day of the pageant. This family member or helper must be designated at the time of check-in on the day of the pageant. 16. The Pageant will start at 4 pm, Saturday May 31 st 2014, at Twin Valley Elementary/Middle School Auditorium located in Oakwood, Virginia. Each division will take approximately thirty minutes. We will do our best to stay on schedule but cannot guarantee the exact start time for each division as some divisions may have more contestants than others. Contestants should plan on being at Twin Valley Middle School at least 90 minutes before their approximate division times. Concessions will be available. 17. We reserve the right to combine any age division with less than 8 contestants. 18.
