3 Introduction Thank you for purchasing the BC Classic Longline Kit! This 1 Slackline Kit is a great kit for the aspiring longliner and traveling slackliner. It s lightweight quality and ease of setup makes it a fantastic kit for slackliners of all skill levels. Breakage Hazard Never rig your system so that the slackline is forced against something that could break any components of the kit. Leverage Hazard A tensioning strap or other equipment can lever against a connector (such as a carabiner or shackle) and break it, opening the connector and allowing the strap to fall out. Guard against this at all times! Pinching Hazard Webbing travelling through a webbing anchoring device can suck in hair, fingers, clothing, etc., causing injury & jamming the device. Guard against this. Environmental Factors Moisture, ice, salt, sand, snow, chemicals and other factors can prevent proper operation or can greatly accelerate wear. Inspection Before, During, & After Use Check all parts for cracks, deformation, corrosion, wear, etc. Verify that the webbing is free from burrs and the sewn loops are intact. Verify that all shackles are fully closed. Regularly inspect and monitor your system, confirming proper connections, equipment position, fully locked connectors, etc. Intended Use This Slackline Kit should only be used with energy absorbing systems such as dynamic webbings, energy absorbers, etc. & slack must be kept out of the system to prevent high impact falls. It is intended for use by medically fit, specifically trained and experienced users. Training Thorough and specific training is absolutely essential before use. Being at height is dangerous and it is up to you to reduce the risks as much as possible - but the risks can never be eliminated. There are many ways to misuse this equipment, too many to list or imagine. You must personally understand and assume all risks and responsibilities of using this equipment. If you cannot or do not want to do this, do not use this equipment. Compatibility Verify compatiblity with other components of your system. Incompatible connections can cause detachment, breakage, etc. Repairs or Modifications Are only allowed by the manufacturer or those authorized in writing by the manufacturer. Lifetime 10 years maximum, but will often be much less depending on conditions and use; it could even be a single use in some cases. Retire from Service & Destroy if it: 1.) Is significantly loaded. 2.) Does not pass inspection or there is any doubt about its safety. 3.) Is misused, altered, damaged, exposed to harmful chemicals, etc. 4.) Webbing or sewn loops are significantly damaged. Consult the manufacturer if you have any doubts or concerns. Maintenance & Storage Clean if necessary with fresh water, then allow to dry completely. 6 Reeving the SBI Pulleys Step 1 Lay the SBI pulleys out in front of you, with the brake pulley on your right. Step 2 Take one end of your static rope and pass it up through the brake sheave on the SBII Pulley on your right. Step 3 Continue the rope and pass it down the first sheave on the left SBI Pulley. Step 4 Now up through the second sheave of the right SBI Pulley. Step 5 And now down through th second sheave of the left SBI Pulley. Step 6 Now attach the rope to the becket of the right pulley with a Barrel Knot. See this website for info on tying this knot:

7 Rigging The BC Classic Longline Kit Step 1 Grab the sewn end of your webbing, 1x 12 foot and 1x 10 foot Adjustable Anchor Webbing, both BC Shackles, and 1x TreeLite Tree Protector and walk to one of the trees you plan to use. Step 2 Wrap your TreeLite Tree Protector around an adequately sized tree (12 or larger diameter at the height you re rigging at). Step 3 Pass the 12 foot Adjustable Anchor Sling around the tree through the sling holders on the TreeLite and then pass a BC Shackle through 2 of the anchor loops such that the angle at the shackle is 90-degrees or less. Step 4 Attach the main sewn loop to the pin of the BC Shackle, ensuring the pin is completely closed. Step 5 Pass the 10 Adjustable Anchor Sling around the same tree, under the 12 foot sling. Attach the second BC Shackle and then attach the backup loop to the pin of this shackle. This shackle should sit in front of the main shackle. Step 6 Walk the line to the other tree, counting your steps and making sure the line is flat along the way. When you get near the other tree, lay the line on the ground and mark flat with a stick.

8 Rigging The BC Classic Longline Kit Step 7 Grab the second TreeLite, the second 12 foot Adjustable Sling, both Van Beest Shackles, your reeved SBI pulleys, and the multiplier gear. Wrap the tensioning tree with your TreeLite at the same height as the static anchor. Step 8 Pass the 12 foot Adjustable Sling around the tree, through the sling holders on the TreeLite and then pass a Van Beest shackle thrugh 2 of the anchor loops such that the angle at the shackle is 90-degrees or less. Step 9 Attach the brake pulley to the pin of the Van Beest Shackle, making sure the pin is completely closed. Step 10 Hold down the brake arm on the SBI pulley and pull out an adequate amount of rope. Step 11 Extend the SBI pulleys out to where they need to be by using the step-counting method shown on the Helpful Videos page. Step 12 Attach the webbing to the non-brake SBI pulley using your chosen webbing anchor method. For Line-Locker, see Line Locker Instructions. For Alpine WebLock, see Alpine WebLock Instructions.

9 Rigging The BC Classic Longline Kit Step 13 Begin tensioning the line by pulling on the tail leaving the brake pulley. Step 14 Once pulling becomes difficult, you can attach the multiplier. Pull out the prusik and attach it with a 4-wrap method to the strand of rope leading to the brake. You can see how to install a prusik here: Step 15 Attach your Omega Pacific Oval carabiner to the prusik and then run the tail coming from the brake pulley through your SMC CRx pulley. Attach this pulley to the oval carabiner. Step 16 Slide the prusik up towards the moving pulley attached to the webbing anchor and begin to pull towards the tree. Step 17 Once the prusik has gotten all the way to the brake pulley, slide it back towards the moving pulley andpull again. Step 18 Repeat steps 16 and 17 until your desired tension has been reached.

10 Transfer Tension Once you are done tensioning your line, it is very important to release tension off the built-in brake on the SBI pulleys and transfer it to a releaseable knot for easy detensioning. Tension Transfer Instructions 1.) Take the tail of your webbing leaving your webbing anchor and tie an overhand on a bight. Attach your Omega Pacific Oval carabiner to this knot. Here are instructions 2.) Take the tail leaving the brake pulley and tie a Munter Mule to the carabiner. Here are details on this knot: 3.) Take the free end of your rope and pass it up through the hole in the brake arm and tie a stopper knot of some sort. 4.) Pull on the rope going to the brake arm to release tension off of the brake, transferring tension to the Munter Mule Knot. PLEASE NOTE: Always backup your tails before stepping foot on the slackline! There is a lot of force on the line and it can be very dangerous if anything were to fail.

11 Detensioning The Slackline Once you are finished slacklining, you will need to detension the line. There is a safe way to do this that is quick and easy. Below you will find step-by-step instructions for derigging your primitive tensioning system. Detensioning Instructions 1.) Re-Engage the brake by pulling it back towards the tree 2.) Untie the mule part of the munter mule. 3.) With a firm grasp on the tail leaving the munter knot, release the brake arm and hold it open as you slowly let tension through the munter knot. 4.) Once the tension is low enough, undo the munter knot and allow the end of the rope to slip through the brake pulley.

12 Installing the Shackle Line-Locker If you have chosen the Shackle Line-Locker as your webbing anchor choice, then follow these instructions for installation. Shackle Line-Locker Instructions 1.) Find the non-sewn end of your slackline webbing and slide the included sleeve onto the webbing. Position the sleeve vertically for easy installation. 2.) Position the sleeve at the location where you want to attach your pulleys to your webbing. 3.) Form a bight in the webbing and pass the bight through the two steel rings. Wrap it around and back through the rings again. 4.) Pass your Van Beest 1/2 Anchor Shackle through the bight and postion the line-locker on the bow-side of the shackle. Now cinch the webbing down, making sure to dress the wraps nicely. 5.) Attach the pin of the Van Beest shackle to the non-brake SBI pulley.

13 Installing the Alpine WebLock If you have chosen the Alpine WebLock as your webbing anchor choice, then follow these instructions for installation. Alpine WebLock Instructions 1.) Attach the Alpine WebLock to the non-brake SBI pulley with the Van Beest 1/2 Anchor Shackle, with the bow-side of the shackle connected to the Alpine WebLock. 2.) Take a bight of webbing where you want to attach it to the pulleys, with the walking line on top. 3.) Pass the bight behind the center diverter of the Alpine WebLock. 4.) Remove the front pin, put the bight in front of the pin hole, and reinstall the front pin. 5.) Dress the webbing nicely ensuring there are no twists within the weblock. 6.) Pull on the tail leaving the Alpine WebLock to pre-tension the line, saving you effort with the pulley system.

14 Misuse Guidelines Do not allow tension to be applied to the backup sewn loop. It should be hanging down below the main sewn loop once the line is tensioned. Do not release tension on the SBI Pulleys without running the rope tail to a releaseable knot. Ensure your pulley system is not twisted! Having a twisted pulley system can exert unwanted forces on your system. Ensure everything is backed up before stepping on the slackline. Ensure you have adequate tails leaving your tensioning-side webbing anchor. Be aware of your system WLL! Do not ever exceed the WLL of your entire system!
