2 Team Hurt-man Rescue Mean Time: 4:00 minutes Drop Dead Time: 6:00 minutes Competitors will be provided a 5 - minute Q&A and Set-Up period. Competitors will start the event with all gear off and leather gloves on, once climbing gear is on competitors will put on rubber gloves (rubber gloves must remain in the appropriate bags, snaps closed). An Ox Block will be hung with a collar rope or sling, the hand line hook will be at the base of the pole and properly fastened together. Judge will notify competitors when they have 1 minute remaining in the set-up time and at the conclusion of the set- up time. Judge will count down GO. Competitor will put on climbing gear and change from leather gloves to rubber gloves, hand line may be split and load line pulled to the Ox Block prior to the competitor ascending the pole. Competitor will ascend to the mannequin, secure the victim using 3 half hitches Hitches must be within 4 of the victim. 2 audible clicks must be made on the Ox Block using the LOAD LINE. Cut the victim free on the proper side. Lower victim to the ground (slack must be in the load line once victim reaches the ground. Competitor will then descend the pole and time will stop when the climber has 1 foot on the ground. NOTE: Teams Total Time & Score: Sum of both climbers Time & Score 2 of 15
3 Team 10 kva Transformer Change-Out (Energized) Mean Time: 16:00 minutes Drop Dead Time: 24:00 minutes Competitors will be provided a 5-minute Q&A and Set-Up period. This is an energized event. The fuse door will be down prior to the start of the event. All equipment and PPE must be set-up on a tarp. A RED LINE minimum approach distance line from the primary phase will be painted on the pole. A transformer Gin must be used, competitors may use either a 2-sheave block & tackle or 2 single sheave blocks properly rigged. 1 climbing competitor may assist the groundman in lowering and raising the transformer. Neutral Conductor to include insulator must be covered with hard or soft cover. Judge will count down GO. 1 st climber will ascend to the Neutral Conductor and hang the handline. Once handline is secured the 2 nd climber many ascend Climbers ascend to transformer, lift the tap and begin the process of removing and reinstalling the bad transformer Once the new transformer is installed the lineman may close the fuse and simulate testing for voltage. Descend to Neutral and remove all cover-up. Time will stop when the last climber has 1 foot on the ground. NOTE: No material or equipment may be raised or lowered while a climber is ascending or descending. ALSO If the transformer gin needs to cross the minimum approach line then the primary phase must be covered. 3 of 15
4 Team Crossarm Change-Out 4kv (Energized) Mean Time: 12:00 minutes Drop Dead Time: 18:00 minutes Competitors will be provided a 5- minute Q&A and Set-Up period. This is an energized event. A new crossarm, pin & insulators and braces will be located at the base of the pole (groundman may assemble during set-up period). A & C Conductors must be covered on both sides and once untied and cover-up connected may be eloated off the arm. B Phase conductor must be covered on Crossarm side. Judge will count down GO. 1 st climber will ascend to the Neutral Conductor and hang the handline. Once handline is secured the 2 nd climber many ascend Once Neutral conductor is covered Climbers may ascend to work positions and begin the crossarm removal. Old arm must be lowered and new arm secured to hand line. New crossarm will then be re-installed, conductors tied in and cover up removed. Both climbers descend to the neutral conductor and remover cover up. Time will stop when last climber has 1 foot on the ground. NOTE: No material or equipment may be raised or lowered while a climber is ascending or descending. 4 of 15
5 Team 3 Phase Condu 耈 or Tie- In (Dead & Grounded) Mean Time: 11:00 minutes Drop Dead Time: 15:00 minutes Competitors will be provided a 5 -minute Q&A and Set-Up period. Dead and Grounded Event. Competitors will start the event with gear on. Judge will count down GO. 1 st climber will ascend to the working position and install handline. Three # 2 ACSR conductors will be in dollies, 1 st climber will remove conductors form the dollies and tie conductors in using preformed ties. Dollies must removed and lowered to the ground once the dollies touch the ground the 1 st climber can descend the pole. Once the 1 st climber is on the ground the 2 nd climber may ascend to the working position. The groundman will raise the dollies back to the 2 nd climber and he or she shall re-installed them on the arm and place the conductors placed back in the dollies. All ties and dollies must be raised and lowered in a tool bucket. Time will stop when the last 2 nd climber has 1 foot on the ground. NOTE: No material or equipment may be raised or lowered while a climber is ascending or descending. 5 of 15
6 Team 3 Phase Dead-End Insulator Replacement (Dead& Grounded) Mean Time: 12:00 minutes Drop Dead Time: 16 minutes Competitors will be provided a 5 -minute Q&A and Set-Up period. Dead and Grounded Event. Competitors will start the event with gear on. Judge will count down GO. 1 st climber will ascend to the working position and install handline. Once the handline is installed the 2 nd climber may ascend to the working position. Three # 2 ACSR conductors will be double dead-ended. Lineman will change all 6 insulators. Lineman can use slack blocks, jack straps or handline during the changeout. Conductor control must be maintained during the change-out. Time will stop when the last climber has 1 foot on the ground. NOTE: No material or equipment may be raised or lowered while a climber is ascending or descending. ALSO Event will be on a double dead-end 6 of 15

Competitors will start the event with all gear off and leather gloves on, once climbing gear is on competitors will put on rubber gloves (rubber gloves must remain in the appropriate bags, snaps closed). 8 Apprentice Obstacle Course Mean Time: 8:00 minutes Drop Dead Time: 14:00 minutes Competitors will be provided a 5 minute Q&A and Set-Up period. Competitors will start with gear on Judge will count down GO. The obstacle course has 3 doubles, eirst mounted at 7 with three ropes, Competitor will have to tie a bowline Knot, A Clove Hitch and a Timber Hitch with 2 half hitches. All knots may be tied around 1 arm. Ascend to the second set of doubles mounted at 20 and move the shoe and insulator to the opposite end of the same arm, Shoe must be correctly mounted and all cotter pins facing inward. Ascend to the top set of doubles, a cut-out will be mounted on that arm and door open, Refuse the cut-out hang the door and descend. Once on the ground either remove climbers or place gaff gaurds on and using an extendo stick close the fuse door, calling out coming hot prior to closing. Ring on cutout door must be used. 8 of 15
9 Apprentice Lightning Arrestor Change-Out Mean Time: 10:00 minutes Drop Dead Time: 14:00 Minutes Competitors will be provided a 5 minute Q&A and Set-Up period. Competitors will start with gear on Judge will count down GO. Competitor will climb to working position, using their straight line to pull a tool bucket with 2 new arrestors inside, Remove hotline clamps from conductors, replace arrestor and reuse the existing leads, Simulate brushing conductor prior to re-attaching hotline clamps, competitors must call out brushing line. Time will stop when 1 foot touches the ground NOTE: Bag may be tied to line during set-up. ALSO sequence of connections must be correct. 9 of 15
10 Apprentice 200 Amp Residential Service Installation Mean Time: 8:00 minutes Drop Dead Time: 12:00 minutes Competitors will be provided a 5 minute Q&A and Set-Up period. Rubber gloves required Triplex with pre-attached wedge clamps can be pre - positioned during set up. Meter socket will be at 5 and top of weatherhead at 7. Step ladder will be provided if needed. All competitors will start with belts and fall arrest on but NO CLIMBERS. Bolt connectors will be provided for all connectors. Split bolts and/or 1 bolt connectors may and will be used so be prepared for either. Judge will count down GO. Competitors will hang triplex at the meter base and make the connections in the proper sequence then put climbers on and tie triplex to straight line. 10 of 15
11 Climb to transformer, hang the triplex, make the necessary connections and in the correct sequence. Descend the pole, remove climbers. Perform a 9 - point meter check calling out the correct readings for each step, set the meter. Time will stop when meter is set ; however judging will continue until the service is lowered and coiled up. 11 of 15
12 Apprentice 25 lb. Copper Reel Pull Mean Time: 1:30 Drop Dead Time: 3:00 Competitors will be provided a 5 - minute Q&A and Set-Up period. A 2 x 4 x ½ pink insulation board will be placed and the base of the pole. Out-side edges of hay bales will be 4 apart with a 25Lb. copper reel on each securing the eiber board. A third reel of copper will be placed in the center of the bales with one end of the hand line attached. All excess line will be coiled in a tool bucket placed between the bales and the pole. Line will run up the pole through a single sheave block 12 of 15
13 suspended from an eye nut and the hook on the line placed in an eye nut on the opposite insulator pin. Judge will count down GO. Competitor will start with gear on, Ascend the pole, un hook the hand-line hook from the eye nut. Competitor will then hand over hand pull the 25Lc copper reel until it touches the sheave block. Then lower hand over hand onto the eiber board WITHOUT BREAKING THE BOARD. Time will stop when the reel is on the board and slack in the line. If the board bust after slack is in the line then no penalty will be accessed. Judging will continue until competitor reaches the ground. 13 of 15
14 Apprentice Written Test Drop Dead Time: 45:00 minutes Written Test will consist of a 50 Question test, 25 questions will be directly from the 16 th Edition of the APPA Safety Manual & 25 Technical questions from the 13 th Edition of the Lineman s and Cableman s Handbook. 14 of 15
15 Mutual Aid Event Our Mutual Aid Event Description TBA There will be 5 Mutual Aid Teams competing on Saturday afternoon. Teams will consist of 20 Rodeo Competitors (4 per team) selected by a blind draw from all competitors and 1 of 5 of our Professional Rodeo Cowboys. Event details will be announced immediately following the competitor blind draw and cowboy pairings. Drawing will be announced on Friday morning After Opening Ceremonies. The combination of Mutual Aid Event Times, added to both nights of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Bull Riding Scores, will determine our Mutual Aid winning Team. Note: Each team will have 2 climbing Competitors, 2 non-climbing competitors and 1 cowboy and all competitors will have assigned task including the Professional Rodeo Cowboy. 15 of 15
