1 Andrew Lock Australia's Most Accomplished High Altitude Mountaineer Andrew Lock can justifiably be described as Australia's greatest mountaineer. In fact, he is the only Australian, the first person in the Commonwealth and just the 18th man in the world to have climbed all of the world's highest mountains, including Mount Everest (twice). Andrew has been awarded the Order of Australia, the Australian Adventurer of the Year, was nominated for Australian of the Year and is justifiably the subject of much media interest. Now a full-time motivational and keynote speaker, Andrew draws on his exceptional achievements and the lessons he's learned along the way to enthuse others, both individually and in groups. He has thrilled audiences from 50 to 500 at public presentations, business seminars and international conferences with his message of teamwork, motivation and achievement. Andrew Lock is a sought after keynote speaker and his dramatic stories of surviving and thriving in the most inhospitable environments on the earth also make for truly engaging presentations for corporate events, lunches, dinners and charity events. More about Andrew Lock: Andrew has achieved eighteen summits of all fourteen of the world's 8000 metre peaks, including Mt Everest (twice), more than four times that of any other Australian, placing him in a select group of the world's best alpinists. Additionally, Andrew accomplished the first Australian ascent of six of those mountains, a record that can never be broken. Andrew is widely recognised as one of Australia's most competent Mountain Climbing and Remote Area trekking guides. His expertise as an international expedition leader and logistician to destinations around the world is highly sought after. Impressively, Andrew's resume includes leading successful expeditions to Heard Island, Central Asia, South America, Mt Everest's summit and remote areas of every continent on earth.
2 A vastly experienced Antarctic veteran, Andrew has led, trained and guided members of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions on multiple expeditions and guided commercial groups across Antarctica and the sub Antarctic. Andrew Lock is an experienced mountain and wilderness documentary cameraman and in 2004 was contracted to film the summit of Mt Everest for Discovery Channel, a production that has been shown on multiple occasions around the world. His 2007 film footage from Mt Annapurna in Nepal, was widely shown on international television. Andrew Lock's continuing mountaineering successes include: The only Australian to climb all fourteen of the world's 8000 metre peaks, including Mt Everest (twice), K2 and Annapurna The first Australian to lead a commercial expedition to the summit of Mount Everest The first Australian ascent of six of the world's 8000 metre peaks Solo ascents of four 8000 metre peaks: Broad Peak, Lhotse, Shishapangma Central and Cho Oyu The only Australian to climb two 8000 metre peaks in one year (he has done this four times, twice climbing two peaks in a single expedition!) 18 individual ascents of 8000 metre peaks, with double ascents of Mt Everest, Cho Oyu and Shishapangma Central Ascents of the highest mountains in the western and southern hemispheres Success has not come easily for Andrew Lock. Along the way, he has survived avalanches, crevasse falls, frostbite, bivouacs at extreme altitude without equipment and witnessed friends perish. His exceptional achievements in the face of such adversity have demanded supreme levels of endurance, motivation and leadership. In 2014 trip to Mt Everest, he was witness to the deadliest avalanche in the peak's history. Andrew's book, SUMMIT 8000, published by Melbourne University Press, was launched in Australia and New Zealand in August The book, which gives a gripping account of his death-defying ascents and explains his passion for climbing, received endorsements from some of the world's greatest mountaineers.
3 Andrew Lock holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Emergency Management) with Distinction and is the recipient of the Australian National Medal, the Australian Defence medal and has twice been awarded the Mount Everest medal by the Government of Nepal. Andrew talks about: Extreme Leadership Planning - getting the details right Setting goals and developing the strategies to achieve them Teamwork and the benefits of shared adversity Risk Management in extremis Overcoming the toughest challenges Motivation - Never give up' As a leader and member of over 50 Himalayan, Antarctic and remote area expeditions, Andrew Lock truly understands the issues that matter - achieving extreme challenges, motivation, risk management, team work, goal setting, communication, leadership, change management, dealing with conflict and more.
4 Client Testimonials Andrew presented a compelling and fascinating story, which kept people's interests and captivated their imaginations. The group extracted a lot of learning from the presentation and it set them up to have a very constructive conversation about our biggest issues. Andrew did a great presentation; his use of mixed media meant you got a real sense of the physical environment he was speaking about. We were delighted with his speech and would definitely recommend him to others. ANZ The stories and insights you shared with us captivated the attention of all present and the way you related your experiences back to planning, goal setting, and teamwork, along with a liberal dose of sheer persistence and determination, served as a valuable learning experience for all the Academy attendees. I would highly recommend your services to any company looking to inspire their team. Your presentation added real value to our Academy and left an impression that will last well beyond the scope of our two day event Jim Foran Van Heusen Academy of Excellence Andrew's presentation was both insightful and entertaining. He has the credibility and real life experience that really captured our guests imagination. He also was able to relate the issues of leadership, strategy and team culture on Everest back to Australia's Boardrooms Crown & Marks Executive Search The management team couldn't stop talking about your presentation today and I'm sure when I get to the office on Monday the staff will be buzzing. Thank you so much for the thought you put into both presentations. They were perfect. Gazal
