Monarch butterflies only live for two to six weeks. Before they die, they lay their eggs on a milkweed plant. Then, the new caterpillars repeat the same steps. Monarch butterflies are born four times during the year. In February and March, the first set of butterflies comes out of the eggs. The second set of Monarch butterflies are born in May and June. The third group will be born in July and August. All of these Monarch butterflies will go through the same steps in life. They only live two to six weeks after becoming a beautiful Monarch butterfly. One day he took pictures of boys that built and raced their own cars. Myron Scott thought it was such a great idea, so he started the All-American Soap Box Derby. In 1934, he had the first All-American Soap Box Derby race in Ohio. Soap Box Derby racing is now common across the United States. It has also become popular in many other countries. Soap Box Derby racers have to build their own cars and learn how to race them. This takes a lot of time. However, racers can buy a derby car kit to help them build their cars. The kit comes with the directions and materials needed to build the car. There are different kits for the different racing groups. The first-time racers will race in the Stock division. Their cars are easiest to build. Racers who have raced before can race in the Super Stock division. These racers get to build a more difficult derby car. The Masters division is the last group. It is for really great racers. Boys and girls from ages 8 through 17 can take part in the races. Parents can help their children, but most of the work needs to be done by the kids. 14. Many colonists began to dislike their rulers. They did not like being taxed by the British. There was an extra tax the colonists paid when they bought tea. The colonists decided they did not want to be ruled by Great Britain. They started a revolution with hopes of splitting away from Great Britain. A striker, also known as a batsman, stands in front of one of the wickets and holds a flat bat. A bowler stands at the other wicket and throws the ball. The striker tries to hit the ball. If the striker misses, the ball could hit the wicket. If the bails fall off the wicket, then the striker is out. If the ball is hit, the striker runs to the opposite wicket.
