Chairman s report (Jonnie Turpie, chairman) It has been a very good season for Kings Heath cricket section as a whole as we stepped up to the Birmingham league after 6 years away. Phil Jefferies led the 1st XI to third in the premier league which is a great achievement in our first year back. It has secured our position towards the top of the division and laid the foundations for a big season next year. Well done all. The 2nd XI and 3rd XI also stepped up and mixed experience with youth to keep Kings Heath in the frame for the whole season. As Dave Monk and Graham Arrand have said, we have a good group of young players coming through who will only get better with experience. The Sunday 1st XI led by John Pemberton had a breakthrough season with promotion achieved and championship T20 success. Next season will be tough, but will be the opportunity for players across the club to play into form and develop. Junior cricket saw the rain stay away for most of the season and some notable performances were seen. The boys under 9, 10, 11 and girls under 11, 13, 15 not only attended training to fill the ground every Friday with upcoming very young enthusiastic players, and the boys under 9s played well in a competitive league for the first time. The boys under 10, 11 and 12 had large squads with dedication being rewarded with some good results. But most importantly many boys got the opportunity to play competitive cricket and benefit from the club s commitment to coaching. The year saw a number of club and community events that showed once again that there is a big Kings Heath following. I will say a big thank you to all the volunteers on and off the field who have supported us in A special mention to Gregg Arrand who is succeeding in his mission to make Kings Heath the best social media club in the Birmingham League! Keep the tweets coming! #KHCC The junior and the sponsorship committees have worked hard to maintain the club and grow the infrastructure for the future. Next year will be a big year as we open a new scorebox, plan pavilion development, apply for club wide grants, grow sponsorship and introduce disability cricket coaching. Finally we saw the maturation of the girl s cricket that we have been supporting over the last few years saw us fielding under 11, 13 and 15 and the under 13 girls being the unbeaten champions of the Lady Taverner s competition. The under 11 girls also did us the honour of leading out the England XI at Edgbaston in an ODI vs Australia. This is a great achievement and testament to girl s commitment and the coaching volunteers will see an even stronger turnout and the first Kings Heath women s team. All these achievements show a club in good order and we were recognized for this by being nominated as Warwickshire County Cricket Club s 2014 Cricket Force showcase club and the WCB accolade of: "Kings Heath is a seriously impressive club". 3 Saturday 1st XI (Phil Jefferies, captain) Having won the Warwickshire League in 2012 and promoted to the Birmingham League we knew that 2013 wasn t going to be a walk in the park following a six year absence from the Birmingham League. The 2013 season was split into two formats, 50 over win/lose and 55 over traditional Birmingham League cricket. In the 50 over format we: Played 11, won 6, lost 5, points 150 In the 55 over format we: Played 11, won 6, drew 2, lost 3, points 162 Overall played 22, won 12 lost eight and drew two, points 312 and finished in the top three a clear 25 points ahead of fourth place Penn and 40 behind second place Tamworth. 4 Saturday 2nd XI (Dave Monk, captain) Overall this was a season of development for the 2nd XI. There were some strong performances as a team when availability and individual performances allowed. Position: ninth out of 12 teams, 217 points (Won 6, Drawn 2, Lost 13, Abandoned 1) Although victories were few and far between, as a team we competed in all our matches. It was very rare that we were outplayed, but we struggled when we came up against a group of experienced cricketers. On the majority of occasions we fielded between five and eight players under 21 which bodes well for the future of the club. The strength of the team lies in our bowling with consistent and good performances coming from Dan Brockman, Adam Warden, Luke Baker, Jack Wadelin and Sean Brown. We lost some of our bowling power when Parminder Bhomra and Sean became unavailable and in the win / lose games often went into games with only four main bowlers. There were good performances from younger players such as Uwais Hassan, Mo Akhtar, Jei Diwakar and Chad Atkinson. We missed many of our 18 to 21 year olds this year due to university and injury which was a major factor in us not winning more games. Overall 24 people bowled during the season showing our weakness in depth. In terms of batting, player of the season Paul Johns stood head and shoulders above others although, average wise, our top performers either played 1st XI for most of the year or were unavailable for most of the season. Only three people batted more than ten BOWLING O M R W Best Econ SR Avg Luke Baker / Dan Brockman / Parminder Bhomra / Adam Warden / Jack Wadelin / Sean Brown / BATTING Games Inns NO Runs HS Avg 50 / 100 Josh Baker * / 0 Scott Doody * / 1 Ben Jones / 0 Parminder Bhomra * / 0 Paul Johns / 1 David Monk / 0 Javod Malik / 0 Callum Bird * / 0 Adil Saeed * / 0 Jon Clugston / 0 times. Overall 37 different people batted for the team. We do have some excellent younger players coming through and this year; Adil Saeed really stepped up to the mark scoring two fifties in his debut season, with one to win a game. Callum Bird and Josh Baker will hopefully carry on scoring big runs in the future. The fielding was generally poor throughout the season but will only improve as younger players gain in confidence and focus during games. We used six wicketkeepers this year as players move up to the first team, an issue that we need to resolve by looking to develop a young wicketkeeper for the future. Louis Langham-Walsh showed this year he has the ability to do this. A big thank you must go to Paul Spinks for being pretty much an ever present. A person who perhaps didn t perform how he would like but underestimates his worth to the team to support younger players and add experience to the team. Also I would like to thank Paul Johns and Adam Warden for stepping in to captain when I was unavailable. If the group of youngsters can stay together, and play as much as they can, I have no doubt the team can go from strength to strength in Page 4 of 17

Saturday 3rd XI (Graham Arrand, captain) The 3rd XI finished a very creditable fourth out of ten teams in our first year in the premier league. The premier division was a mix of experienced all adult single team sides and young 3rd XI teams. We won seven, lost seven with one drawn and one game rained off. With a very young team of mainly 16 year olds supported by under 15s, 14s and a 13 year old our results are much better than I ever expected. Batting: Masood Ur-Rehman Khan was our leading run scorer with 329 runs; he was well supported by Javod Malik with 280 and Louis Langham-Walsh with 256. Tom Salliss and Nabeel Ahmed scored their maiden hundreds and Parminder Bhomra hit his second hundred for the 3rd XI. There were good knocks from Bernie O Connor, Gregg Arrand, Chad Atkinson, George McKeever from the under 13s and James Bird from the under 14s. Wasim Akram scored his maiden adult fifty. Bowling: not the easiest of seasons we had a very young bowling attack mainly 15 and 16 year olds. Bowlers can only bowl ten overs per game which makes taking a large number of wickets more difficult. The leading wicket taker with 16 wickets was Chad; he was well supported by Uwais Hassan (13), Mo Akhtar (12) and Masood with ten. Fielding: our ground fielding was good with numerous diving stops and run outs. Our catching was also outstanding this year with Gregg, Bernie, Chad, George McKeever and Masood all taking some brilliant catches during the season. Louis and George shared the wicket keeping. The player of the season went to Masood Ur-Rehman Khan with his league record 329 runs and ten wickets. Thanks to everyone who played some on Saturday mornings! Thanks to the parents who came and supported and showed interest in their son s game Kevin Langham- Walsh, Saf Saeed, Mohan Diwakar, Andy McKeever and Mark Frain. Thanks to Mark for providing lifts and for umpiring. Summary: with the team being a year older and more experienced next year and by improving in all the key areas of the game we should be able to continue to compete in the premier division in Page 5 of 17

Sunday 1st XI (John Pemberton, captain) The Sunday XI had a breakthrough year playing some high quality cricket and often dominating the opposition. The blend of experienced 1st / 2nd XI players with 3rd XI / junior up and coming talents achieved a balance that allowed some players to recapture form whilst others forged forward with their development. The Sunday side during the first half of the season were happy to bat first, rack up insurmountable totals and aim to bowl the opposition out, unfortunately this often resulted in stale finishes to games when sides blocked out from the start. Half way through the season a change in direction was enacted to go full steam ahead for promotion by bowling first and knocking off totals. The goal of promotion was achieved on the last game of the season, which means the competition next year will push the players to develop further and achieve more. Along with league success the Sunday XI ran out T20 champions on a dark day early September. Aston CC were brushed aside in the Semi-Final by Callum Bird s stylish knock and Pak Shaheen were comfortably beaten in the final, dominated by Louie Turpie's opening spell and Vishi Jeet's blade! Throughout the year there were some notable performances and the mainstays of the bowling were Jack Wadelin with 12 Wickets and Vishi Jeet with 11 wickets. The mainstays with the bat were John Pemberton and Vishi Jeet with more than 400 runs and player of the year Javod Malik with more than 250 runs with stylish contributions in the field and off the field. The Sunday XI promises to have another great year in Sunday 2nd XI (Amit Patel, captain) Five matches were scheduled but not many Sunday 2nd XI games were played due to lack of availability or the opposition team pulling out. Only one game was played (against Hampton & Solihull on Sunday 27 May). KHCC bowled and fielded well, restricting the opposition to 148 for five in 40 overs, but the batting letting us down and KHCC were 30 runs short of victory. Midweek XI (Gregg Arrand, fixture secretary) Three midweek friendly fixtures were arranged, but due to poor weather only one match was played, against HSBC on Thursday 6 June. Kings Heath batted first, scoring 162 for nine (Javod Malik 48, Bernard O Connor 39, Sam Crocker 36, Louis Langham- Walsh 23) before HSBC Bank hit 156 for four in their 20 overs and lost by six runs. In 2014 occasional friendly matches will be arranged to provide regular opportunities for those people not playing Saturday league cricket and to ensure player development and retention. Young (under 21) player of the season: Luke Baker Page 6 of 17

Under 9 Boys (Tom Pettitt, manager) This was the first time Warwickshire ran a competitive structure at this age group. There were four tournaments mostly held during evenings, linked into a league format. In each tournament each team played three games of eight overs a side, eight players per team. With good numbers of boys on our books, we had two teams. Played Moseley Ashfield, Harborne, Attock and Weoley Hill. For each tournament selected squad of eight to 12 boys per team. Decided to promote participation and provide all 28 under 9 boys chance to play in at least two tournaments. In addition six under 8s played at least one tournament late in season good foundation for next year. League we won nine games, tied one, lost 14, over the two teams. Good performance given that so many different boys played. Also separate tournament at Weoley Hill, one team came second. That achievement meant we took part in under 9 County Final held at Edgbaston on the hallowed turf. First event called off due to the only wet day in July, although we managed to play one game in the Indoor School. Re-arranged during summer holiday and although some boys unavailable due to holidays, played well, losing to Leamington (one of the top clubs in Warwickshire) in a nail-biter by one run. Thanks to Alan for co-ordinating our team on day. Coaching team of Breeze, George, Louis and Gethin. Great enthusiasm from kids. Great support from parents especially shown by the Great Feast, when all parents brought food to share at the tournament we held, feeding all 60 boys, their parents and coaches present on the night, with a wonderful array of different foods. Under 10 Boys (Jeff Webb, coach) A total of 21 boys attended on the designated training night. Six hard ball league matches were played as pairs cricket (eight a side) of which we won one. Three matches were cancelled and for a lot of the boys this season was their first experience of hardball cricket. Results were disappointing however we competed as a side and we were largely beaten by teams who had more experience of hardball cricket. Overall there was a big gap in ability in boys who had not played cricket before and boys who were used to hardball. Two boys represented the under 10 South Birmingham District side (Tom Thornton and Daniel Smith). Player of the season: Tom Thornton Most improved player: Harry Clugston Page 7 of 17

Under 11 Girls (Bernard O Connor, coach) The Edgbaston 15 led out the England team for the opening gambit of the Ashes summer against the Australians. What a day! What a picture! Strength in depth having recruited many new girls through the District coaching programme in the spring, enabled us to field B teams at the WCB Lady Taverners Indoor Tournament at Edgbaston in April, and then at the last Fixture Festival at Walmley, where Ruby Maher, Katie Swain and Arwena Rytlewska made their debuts playing alongside Ella Wilkes and Charis Burden. The first team played 19 games, comparing very well to last year s zero games, finishing the season with a winning record. Runners up in the WCB Lady Taverners Indoor Tournament: P7 W5 L2 Runners up in the LT U11 league with Fixture Walmley 2, Ambleside and Four Oaks Saints: P12 W6 L6 Strong performances throughout the season from Flic and Isabella Ivory, Molly Walker, Lucy Hancocks, Livia Rytlewska, Ellie Dean, Sophie Wilson, Anae Williams and Lily Langdell. At the end of the season the B team initiated a supportive, nurturing relationship with Weoley Hill as their club looks to get their own team up and running so thanks there to some more of our new girls; Arwena Rytlewska, Lily Latcham, Tabitha Jones, Charis Burden and Faiza Hashmi. County Players Olivia Pearce and Lily Langdell. Player of the season: Felicity Flic Ivory Most improved player: Faiza Hashmi Page 8 of 17

Under 11 Boys (Jon Clugston, coach) The under 11 team were a large squad this year with a wide range of abilities amongst the players. All players were given a least one opportunity to play in a competitive league game and the team faced some strong opposition. Unfortunately, despite some close finishes, the team lost all their league games but were successful in the one friendly game played. The team was very well captained by Gordon Gittins who led the team very and made significant contributions with bat, ball and in the field. Other performances to note were the consistent wicket keeping of Tom Benson and the progress of Ellis Rose who impressed when attending practice nights with older age groups. Overall, the results show that consideration needs to be given to the size of squads and whether as a club we should always play our strongest side in league cricket. The best players in this age group are able to complete but did not play together as our strongest side in any game. Player of the season: Gordon Gittins Most improved player: Avanish Tiwari Under 12 Boys (Mike McIlvaney, coach) The under 12s section proved very popular, with 24 boys signing up, including several boys new to the club. If a successful season is measured by good weather and opportunity to play, we did very well. However, our results were slightly disappointing though we managed to remain competitive in all of our games, in a league were the standard of the opposition was consistently very high. There was healthy competition for places and all boys had the chance to play competitive cricket. It is fair to say that we struggled in the sunshine, winning only one of our seven games, but everyone played with enthusiasm and several players showed a marked improvement over the course of the season. With a robust squad and many of our boys on a steep learning curve, our future prospects are brighter than this season s results might suggest. Our results will only improve with hard work and practice. Our player of the season was Dhyan Naik, whose wicked spin bowling earned him the best of the bowling figures. The most improved player was Edward James whose hard work and enthusiasm led to a marked improvement in performance, and his first wicket in our game against Harborne. Daniel Bird was selected to play for Warwickshire and Hugh McIlvaney for South Birmingham District. Page 9 of 17

Under 13 Girls (Bernard O Connor, coach) Played two Fixture Festivals at Kings Heath and Four Oaks Saints in which, due to fixture clashes with Warwickshire, 17 girls represented the club. It s a testimony to the talent of our under 13s that that clash impacted so much on our team selection, and the success of the team was as much down to the skills of those under 11s that stood up to the plate when our county girls were unavailable. LT Under 13 League: played five, won five. UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONS Kings Heath Girls first trophy winners! It would have been nine games had Standard been able to field a side at our place and then hadn t needed to make the only rained off cancellation of the season in May. I ve no doubt the girls would have gone on to become our first ever league winners regardless of how many games they had played. Notable improvements were made this season by Niamh Heneghan and her spin bowling and Beth Woodward as wicketkeeper. My favourite memory has to be watching Jodie Imms and Heather Crombie in the first Fixture Festival of the season hitting a half-gary Sobers when they scored 36 runs in the twelve balls of their opening stand against Four Oaks Saints. Those girls that were able to make it at short notice and an early start time were presented with their winners medals and the trophy at Edgbaston on October 2nd, and medals were presented to the other 11 girls by our guest Amy Jones at the Junior Awards Evening two days later. County Players Georgia and Isobel Godfrey, Layla Chishti, Jodie Imms, Clem Crowson and Heather Crombie Player of the season: Jodie Imms Most improved player: Jasmin Ancell Page 10 of 17

Under 13 Boys (Dave Salliss, coach) This year the under 13 team competed in the Warwickshire Premier League which is a 25 over competition played on Sunday mornings. This was a strong league involving the likes of Walmley, Knowle & Dorridge, Leamington and Harborne and Kings Heath finished seventh out of 12 teams which was slightly disappointing. Having said that, we only finished nine points off fourth place and with there being 12 points for a win we weren t too far away from an excellent finishing position. This season s record was: played 11, won six, lost four, abandoned one. This season s top scorer was George McKeever with 209 runs at an average of 35 and a top score of 67. The leading wicket taker was Tom Gallagher with nine wickets at an average of and an economy rate of His best figures were Highlights of the season were several high quality close catches and excellent all round fielding performances and also Mark Laing s two massive sixes away at Walmley that ended up over the pavilion and at the far end of the car park. Favourite highlight was chasing 127 to win away at Cov + NW and after five overs we were eight for four with all our top batsmen back in the pavilion. An excellent partnership of 79 between Felix Abbott-Black and Mark Laing got us back in the game before Felix retired hurt. Mark went on to finish on 93 not out to see us win the game by six wickets. George McKeever made his debut for the senior 3rd XI this season and in my opinion, several other boys including Mark Laing, Felix Abbott Black and Cameron Bailey will be more than capable of making the step up to 3rd XI cricket next season if required. All in all, a satisfying season even if the league position doesn t really reflect this. Player of the season: Mark Laing Most improved player: Peter Whitehouse Page 11 of 17

Under 14 Boys (Gregg Arrand, coach) 2013 was a competitive season for the under 14s. We finished third in the South Birmingham Division containing: Harborne, Lyndworth, Ward End, Sutton Coldfield, and Walmley. Player of the year was a difficult choice as a number of boys made contributions during the year. James Bird stood out through sheer consistency, leading run scorer with an average of over a hundred, scoring three unbeaten fifties and a 48 not out (six innings). On the back of those performances he was selected for the Saturday 3rd XI, and contributed in a match winning run chase against Berkswell on Saturday 8 June Most improved player was Matt Hoadley, who contributed to the team spirit with vocal encouragement and excellent commitment in the field throughout the season. He was the leading wicket taker, and the most economical bowler against county standard opposition batsmen, and was always hard working in training and dedicated when fielding. The favourite game of the season was on Thursday 4 July 2013 away at Sutton Coldfield where we won a low scoring match in the final over by just two wickets. Sam Ross took three wickets in an over; bowling (the best individual bowling figures in 2013) and Matthew Benson took an excellent catch running in from the deep midwicket boundary. Special thanks go to Graham Arrand for coaching at every training session, scoring every match, and developing the players with technical and tactical advice. Thanks to the manager Emma McKeever, who did a superb job during the season, rearranging matches, chasing player availability and getting last minute replacements. Played ten, won five, lost five (third position out of six teams). Page 12 of 17

Under 15 Girls (Bernard O Connor, coach) Our oldest girls again ably supported by their younger counterparts had their best season ever (Hannah Malcolm, Awards Evening Speech 2013) both in terms of games played and finishing position. They played in three Fixture Festivals at Four Oaks Saints, Kings Heath and Standard. At that final Fixtures Festival the girls needed to win all three games against Four Oaks, Standard and Walmley in order to secure runners up position in the league, which they did. LT U15 League P9 W6 L3 Runners Up Another winning record, further exemplifying the progress all of our girls have made in the past few seasons. 14 Under 15 Boys (Mark Frain, manager) This season for the under 15s has been a big disappointment from my point of view, with struggling to get players for the games together with all the other aspects of running, managing and even coaching players where possible. And at times I felt that I did not get the full support of all the parents. We started the season in early April with the Monday night training sessions, and a group of 14 under 15s. This did rise to 18 players throughout the season, but we always had to field under 13s & under 14s throughout the season, in fact on several occasions we fielded four or five under age players to get teams out and play the fixtures. Reasons for this were various from exams & revision time for the boys and school trips, as well as the final month where we again lost players to Ramadan (the fasting season for many).we did in fact play one game with just ten players. With had a fixture list of 11 games in the Warwickshire under 15s Premier League both home and away and from the start we seemed to struggle. But struggling through we did. The first game was even postponed and had to be rearranged due to district & county trails etc, so we finally started our fixtures in early May at home to Walmley. Our final league placing put us bottom of the league, having one game postponed due to the weather, two games were forfeited due to lack of available players, so we finished by playing eight games, won one, lost seven. Top batsman was Adil Saeed with 131 runs from four games, and top wicket taker with nine wickets was Luke Frain from seven games. Highlight of the season was our one and only success beating Olton & West Warwicks by nine wickets, which showed when we played well we could hold our own with quite a few of the teams in this league. Player of the season: Adil Saeed Most improved player: Daanish Butt Special award: Luke Frain (five wicket haul) Page 14 of 17

Under 17 Boys (Andy Payne, coach) The boys played only three games, losing two against Sutton Coldfield and Moseley but winning their game against Walmley. Monday 1 July: Kings Heath 145 for three in 20 overs, Moseley 149 for three in 18.3 overs. Monday 22 July: Kings Heath 128 for four in 20 overs, Walmley 80 all out in 17.3 overs. Monday 12 August: Sutton Coldfield 144 for three in 20 overs, Kings Heath 126 for seven in 20 overs. Notable batting performances came from Josh Baker (75 runs against Moseley), Saahir Mubarik (48 runs from 58 balls) and Haseeb Rehman (41* from 26 balls) against Walmey. Bowling performances included Uwais Hassan Wasim Akram and Mo Aktar , all in the victory against Walmley. Luke Baker bowled vs Moseley. Team spirit was very good and the boys worked well together as a unit under Callum Bird's leadership. All the boys have featured at some stage in the adult Saturday and Sunday teams and many of them have considerable ability and potential. We need to make sure there are enough opportunities for these boys to play adult cricket whether Saturday, Sunday or midweek so as to hold their interest and membership. Disability Cricket (Bernard O Connor, coach) In association with Birmingham Sports and Physical Activities Project (a branch of Sport England) and ECB, Kings Heath CC is committed to becoming the satellite club for a community disability hub. In our instance this means providing a new opportunity to offer cricket coaching and playing facilities for students from Fox Hollies Special Secondary School, all of whom have a range of physical, mental and emotional disabilities and life-limiting challenges. During the spring, some of the club's coaches will work alongside Fox Hollies PE teacher Mark Williams and ECB coach Andy Wyles on the school site, leading to summer coaching on Queensbridge School's sports field. Ultimately, Fox Hollies Cricket Team will become Kings Heath and Fox Hollies Disability Cricket Team as those designated coaches become independent providers. The team will have full access to the club's facilities as they continue to be coached and managed by and at Kings Heath, and we will potentially host games at the ground against other disability teams. This initiative further develops Kings Heath's profile as an inclusive community sports club and broadens its membership, embracing the aspirations of an increasingly wide range of youngsters within Kings Heath and beyond who wish to participate in sporting activities outside of the ordinary school and after-school curriculum opportunity. 16 Cricket section activity report (Alan Hyatt) Kings Heath Cricket Club is an ECB Focus Club and has ECB Clubmark Accreditation. Senior Cricket We have 45 senior players (16+) and 90% have come through the junior section. We have three Saturday teams and one Sunday team. The Saturday 1st and 2nd XIs play in the Birmingham & District Cricket Premier League Division 3. The 3rd XI plays in the Warwickshire Cricket League Single Team Premier Division. We do not have our own second ground so the 3rd XI plays at Holders Lane Recreation Field. This is a Birmingham City Council facility that is very run down and in need of repair. It is a worry that we may lose this ground due to council budget cuts. As many of our juniors are competent to play and do play adult cricket we have enough players for a 4th XI. However we ground share Holders Lane so it is not available to us every week. We are trying to find another ground with no success as yet. The Sunday XI plays in the Arden Sunday League and has won the T20 competition this year. Junior Cricket (boys) We have 160 players aged eight to 15. We enter eight teams in the Warwickshire Cricket Board (WCB) youth competitions at under 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17. We have coaching sessions on Tuesdays (Academy), Mondays (Advanced), Wednesdays (Intermediate), Friday (Beginners). Junior Cricket (girls) We have 48 players aged nine to 15. We enter three teams in the Warwickshire Cricket Board (WCB) youth competitions at under 11, 13, 15. We have coaching on Fridays in three ability groups. Girls are a growing section of the club and recognised by WCB as a focus superclub for South Birmingham. They actively encourage other local clubs channel their aspiring girls to KHCC training. Women s team We intend to start a women s team when enough of our under 15 girls reach 16. This is two years away. The ground is available on alternate Sunday afternoons for women s and girl s cricket. School, District & County Cricket The club allows free use of the ground for county representative games and finals. We send our best players in each age group for county trials each October. This season the club has hosted WCB under 17 and under 12 finals, two County age group games v Yorkshire & Wales, WCB Disability Access XI game and practice sessions, District under 13 game, District under 9 training and festival games, under 12 schools final. We participated in ECB Chance to Shine with five sessions provided by club coaches for local primary children. Page 16 of 17

Community The section has an annual fun day to raise funds for charity and junior cricket. Local clubs and businesses are allowed to hire the cricket facility when not in use by the section. Coaches We have 12 active volunteer coaches all with accredited cricket qualifications and enhanced CRB checks. These are supplemented by use of five external paid coaches to meet the recommended player coach ratios. The club gives mentoring and financial support to volunteer coaches to attend training courses and workshops. Assistants We encourage parents to manage teams and assist with coaching sessions, administration and fundraising. We also encourage and support Academy players to gain coaching experience and qualifications. Infrastructure The Sports Club maintains the pavilion and employs a company to maintain the grounds and the cricket square. The section is responsible for the cost of all other cricket related items. In the recent past we have funded from small grants and fundraising: refurbishment and extension of the all weather nets (four lanes), mobile practice cage, sit on roller, two sightscreens, three bowling machines, bowling machine stand, catching cradle. This is on top of the many sundry items for coaching and games. Future Infrastructure We have planning consent and are fundraising to build a new scorebox near the practice area. This will allow safe storeroom for coaching equipment and will have a modern electronic scoreboard. We are working with the sports club on plans to refurbish the pavilion to include disabled toilet, umpires room and replace to communal showers with individual cubicles. Shale Tennis Courts The section has for a long time been interested in this area becoming a multi-sport facility. We have reached full capacity on the cricket field and the net area so additional space is vital. We would like to extend our girls cricket and start to take boys from age six (currently eight). We also are in the early stages of becoming a focus club for disability cricket linked to Fox Hollies Special School. This requires not only additional space, but also a safe area (enclosed) away from the hardball on the field. It would also be ideal to play additional competitive soft ball matches when the field is not available. An astro-turf surface would be our choice and one that will not be too harsh on the skin if contacted. Quote Kings Heath is a seriously impressive club" Warwickshire Cricket Board, May 2013 Page 17 of 17
