1 The Weekly Bias Newsletter Monday, 9th July 2018 Good afternoon everyone So I am still surviving the school holidays (just), one more week to go. I will only be in the office today, Wednesday (until 1pm) and Friday morning of this week. Then all hands on deck the following week. We went to beautiful Dwellingup at the weekend and fed some cows such a laugh. A great day out at Caraholly Orchard. They are open every Sunday for the public, food trucks, fresh produce to purchase and live music. Ladies Bowls Patsy Smith, Ladies Captain Nothing to report for the ladies this week a bit chilly but the sun is still shining. Keep dry and warm everyone. To those heading north for warmer days, safe travels. Men s Bowls Doug Myers, Men s Captain Not much to report this week. Mixed scroungers had 77 players last Friday and the winner was Keith Granger. Happy Hour starts 5:30pm. Chase of the Ace of Hearts is off again. We are now at $1,300. Remember, every drink you purchase entitles you to one free ticket from the bar or, 3 tickets for a bottle of wine. Chase and the raffles are drawn after happy hour. We are looking for that special person to fill the role of our Corporate Bowls Coordinator. This is run in 2 lots of 6 weeks over the summer, commencing in November. We have a great crew at Corporate Bowls and we need lots of helpers, starting with our Coordinator. You could even get to hang out at Col s Corner. 5 From the Men s Captain A timely break in the winter weather saw 77 bowlers turn up to mixed scroungers last Friday, possibly a record number of participants. There was a different look about those who made it to the final with hardly any of the usual suspects present. Keith Granger built on his impressive qualifying efforts and emerged as the winner of a tight game of bowls. The runner/up was Graham Johnson and Brian Wilkins took out third place. Norrie Conduit was a worthy Consolation winner. Thirty bowlers came to Men s Saturday Social Bowls and they played threebowl triples instead of the usual 2x4x2 pairs. This event was won by Marius Burgler, Rudi Loser and Bob Paul. The runners/up were Jeff Allen, Doug Myers and Gary Reid from Port Bouvard. The Nominated Pairs fixture is still attracting good numbers and 32 teams fronted up last Monday. This week s winners were Marius Burgler and Jack Groves, closely followed by Ron Summers and Pater Coles. Bill Warner and Harry Williams were resounding Consolation winners. Please note that if you are in a nominated team and your partner pulls out, I suggest that you immediately try finding a replacement sot that you retain your spot on the nomination sheet. You may miss out on a game if you just put your name in the looking for a game area of the sheet. Finally, I will take this opportunity to welcome father and son, Denis and Dave Rubery, to the Halls Head Bowling club. Both of them are accomplished bowlers and are set to become valuable members of our club. To be the best club in the league both on and off the greens at all times.
