FROM THE BOARD OF MANAGEMENT Functions Booked for 8th & 14th December - Restriction to Facilities For Members. The club rooms and bar facilities have been booked as follows Friday 8 th December Thursday 14 th December 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm
2 For each function the club rooms apart from the rear room have been hired for the hirers exclusive use. The rear room will be reserved for members and access to the bar will be restricted to at the far end next to the concertina doors. We ask members to use the entrance and toilets on the lower level. Should that request pose difficulties to any member we ask that use of the upstairs entrance and toilets be done with respect to the conducting the function. We apologise for the inconvenience and trust members will be understanding. Vacancy For Saturday Pennant Selector The Board invites members to submit "Show of interest"application to fill the Saturday Selection Committee position (applications can be obtained from the notice board) New Club Bowls The club has obtained 6 new sponsored sets of bowls. Thankyou to Reece Plumbing, Mi Care Retirement Services, Proffessionals Realestate, William Matthews Funerals, Kuffer Elwctical Services, Yarra Valley Bowls Supplies who sponsored these bowls These bowls will update some of our tired old stock (Dead Man Bowls). They will greatly assist with Barefoot Bowls and Corporate Cup and the coaching of new bowlers. Under the favourable terms of the purchase, these bowls must always remain at the club. PLAYER ACHIEVEMENTS Our players have enjoyed success at Recent Regional Championships events which was highlighted at the recent Eastern Ranges Bowls Region meeting. Josh Sanders, Troy Stafford and Johnny Sanders winning the Mens Triples. The finals of the Eastern Ranges Men's Championship being an all Lilydale affair with Lilydale entries playing off for the trophy. Josh Sanders (S) Zac Woning (3) CJ Snary (2) Paul Dodd (L) winning the Mens Fours with Troy Stafford (S) Johnny Sanders (3) Luke Lamont (2) Steve O'Reagan (L) as Runners UP A great effort by all players concerned. FROM EASTERN RANGES BOWLS REGION MEETING 13TH NOV. The ERBB committee reported to the delegated in attendance the fantastic effort that Lilydale's Courtney Gabb has produced in establishing the Region's Facebook Page. Great work Courtney and certainly putting Lilydale Bowling Club on the lips of all other club members. The ERBB Junior Development squad has 25 members and 7 of this squad have been selected to represent Victoria in the under 18 State challenge against South Australia in Adelaide in The teams 2017/18 includes Lilydales Carli Morrison and Easton Preston, two bowlers with unlimited potential flying the flag for "The Dales"
3 CORPORATE CUP Mark Morgan has once again run a most entertaining and successful Corporate Cup competition. Not only has he coerced local Businesses to participate in the local rivalry challenges but has procurred big dollar profits for Lilydale Bowling Club with raffles and Bar Sales. This competition runs for six weeks each year in October and November and is worth getting yourself involved: you will enjoy the relaxed approach to bowls and may help to recruit new members for the club. Mark has also managed to commit six of the competing companies to donate six new sets of bowls that will be engraved with their company name and will be used for Barefoot Bowls and Corporate Cup. Members are requested to support our sponsors whenever possible in return for their genorosity. (Reece Plumbing, Mi Care Retirement Services, Proffessionals Realestate, William Matthews Funerals, Kuffer Elwctical Services, Yarra Valley Bowls Supplies.) BAREFOOT BOWLS/HALL & GREEN HIRE December Bookings/Help Required. Our Barefoot Bowling season commenced last Friday (17th Nov) and we are heavily booked up until Xmas as we cater for work functions. Our bookings have expanded outside the normal Friday/Saturday night times and additional help will be required to cover these times. It will be appreciated if you can assist. We benefit greatly from these functions not only financially but through the promotion of our club. Barefoot Bowls Gift Vouchers Following an enquiry we have initiated gift vouchers for Barefoot Bowls. Vouchers can be purchased for any value and will make a Xmas Gift with a difference. To purchase or for more information see Greg or Sue. FROM MIDWEEK PENNANT Please note that the Selectors are doing the best they can with players avail;able and are very aware that continual moving of player is very unsettling. It is frustrating that some of our Competitor Teams are playing Division 1 and 2 Saturday players in much lower Divisions on Tuesday resulting in very uneven results. Our placement on Ladders is not where we went to be but we need to keep trying to play our best, enjoy the game and company and be good sports. Hot Weather If you think you can't cope with the hot weather please let the selectors know as soon as possible as we've reached an age where things can go wrong so quickly.
4 Practice Morning It's great to see many coming along on Mondays about 9.45am for an hour of loosening up, everyone is welcome. Bus Hire for 3rd Team Team 3 will be using a bus when travelling to Richmond Union on 5th December. This will mean an early start because of peak hour traffic. Please keep an eye on the board for further details GET WELL Lauri Todd (Judi'S husband is home after quadruple surgery & other complications. Keith Crossman is making a slow recovery after a 2nd Back Operation and is still in hospital. We wish them a speedy recovery.
