6 The Board has met in July and August to discuss predominantly the proposal to introduce a new shirt design to the club. Although the final decision to proceed has not been given the design proposed by the Sub Committee has been accepted; sponsorship approvals need to be completed and we then should see a final decision made by the Board. The Board thanks Troy Pye and his committee members for their continued work in making this possible and working with the board when changes were put forward; the end result is a great outcome for the club and members. The new bowling season is upon us and the hard work has begun, we would like to thank members involved in organising practice matches and our committees for their work so far, we are sure that Healesville Bowling Club is looking at a successful season both on and off the greens. We have a number of social and private events coming up so please if you can volunteer when required it will help lighten the workload for all involved. The Club Opening Day is on the 24th September 2017, we would like to see all members on the day enjoying a catch up with new members and old celebrating the new season. Please place your name down for the many events happening at the club, forms are on the notice board or on the bench in the clubrooms. Enjoyable bowling to all members. Although she was not a bowler, she was a very busy lady in her own right and always ready to pitch in and help the Club in any way she could. Her most recent stint was helping with the sausage sizzle at our Corporate Challenge nights. Lorraine was a great supporter to the Club and to Charlie in his duties with the Bowls Club. 21 HealesVILLIANS leave their mark Every year around eighty to ninety keen bowlers from all states descend on Carnarvon in mid- July for the Winter Sun four day Bowls Tournament. Wally Mays and his team put in a great effort and on the last day three teams looked like they were in with a show; it was a long wait until the presentation night dinner for results. They were very close Wally and team placed third after a count back with just one shot between1st, 2nd and 3rd. Faye s team ranked a lowly 10th but was able to claim the best one day game of the tournament. Unfortunately Len Cosson and Anne Holland arrived later and missed playing in the tournament; not to be outdone Len and team won the chocolates on a social day. Anne shook them up at Derby, her purple bowls rearing to go sending them down the green and coming up the winner in scroungers. There are some amazing greens around Australia but sadly a lot of clubs have folded. Faye Mays Club News Wally Healesville Bowling Club Newsletter September
