3 BOWL SASK President Shelley Baer Derek Hlewka Youth Bowling th Avenue E th Street E. Regina, Sask. S4N 6J9 Prince Albert, Sask. S6V 1C8 Phone Phone Bowl Sask is a not for profit trade organization consisting of approximately thirty-five bowling centres through out the province. All members of Bowl Sask are also members of Bowl Canada. This organization runs the National programs for the Club 55, the Youth bowlers and national competitions for the adult 5 and 10 pin league bowlers such as Bowl Canada Cup. Following is a brief explanation of the three divisions: Youth Bowling (YBC) Club 55 Adults Youth Bowling 5-Pin This program is designed for bowlers who are under the age of 19. There are three possible divisions: Bantam - 10 years and under on December 31, 2016 Juniors - 11 years to 14 on December 31, 2016 Seniors - 15 years to 19 on December 31, 2016 There is also a Bowlasaurus division for those born in 2010 or later and they usually bowl 2 games with 2 hands. They do not compete in the main program, but have a series of their own. 10-Pin This program is designed for bowlers who are under the age of 21. There are three possible divisions: Bantams - 11 years and under on August 1, 2016 Juniors - 12 to 14 years on August 1, 2016 Seniors - 15 to 21 on August 1, 2016 There is also a program run by the Canadian 10-Pin Federation (CTF) and there are four divisions: Bantams - 11 years and under on August 1, 2016 Juniors - 12 to 14 years on August 1, 2016 Intermediate - 15 to 17 years on August 1, 2016 Seniors - 18 to 21 years on August 1, 2016 You do not have to have all divisions in order to participate in these programs. There are a number of events run in league for these bowlers as well as some that advance to zone or provincial events and in some cases to a national final. In House Check the Bowl Canada Management for information on these. Trio 5-Pin three member team from each division that compete on a pins over average basis. Provincials are held for each division in different locations throughout the province and are divided into North and South to reduce travel time. Youth Doubles 5 and 10 Pin - is a pins over average competition pairing the highest average with the lowest, 2nd high with 2nd low, and so on. This runs in league with the winners advancing to provincials (again they are divided into North and South). 4 Steps The 4 Steps to Stardom is a scratch event which has competition in each division with boys and girls competing separately. This starts in league, advances to zones, provincials and national levels. There are team and singles events in 5 pin and singles in 10 pin.

4 BOWL SASK (Continued) Some expenses including travel ( $.07 per kilometer) for provincial events are covered by grants obtained through the Bowling Federation. There is a National registration fee of $15.00/bowler, some of which is rebated to Sask Youth Bowling. Provincial registration is $3.00 per bowler. The YBC have a very successful fund raising program which involves selling boxes of chocolates ($5.00 each). The bowling centre earns 18% of sales from the National office. In Saskatchewan, any centre selling $45.00 worth per registered bowler receives an additional 7% from Sask YBC. The $45.00 per registered bowler is also required in order to receive travel funds for provincials. Club 55 This is a program that targets the age group 55 and over. The main purpose of the program is to provide a venue for them to socialize - at a local, zone, provincial and national level. All Club 55 events are run on a pins over average basis and are open to all members but are not compulsory. An awards program is available for high scores, in house tournaments, etc. In House Check the Bowl Canada Management for information on these. High Low This event pairs the highest average bowler with the lowest average, 2nd highest with second lowest, and so on until everyone has a partner. Competition starts in league and winners advance to a house final and the winners of this go to a provincial final. Club 55 Club 55 Cup is a new event that involves a 4 player team that can be mixed, ladies or men. Teams will be formed with individuals most pins over average and will advance to the Provincial final and possibly to the Nationals. Some expenses including travel ($.07/km) for provincial events are covered by grants obtained through the Bowling Federation. Your program will operate best if you have a Club 55 Co-ordinator. This is usually a volunteer who oversees the program as a whole and does the organizing, ordering of supplies, etc. Club 55 leagues usually run on a handicap system so everyone is able to participate on an equal basis no matter what their athletic capabilities are. Teams are usually 4 or 5 players and bowl 3 games. The length of the season is determined by the bowling centre. Adult Leagues These leagues usually run on a handicap system so everyone is able to participate on an equal basis no matter what the their athletic capabilities are. Teams are usually 4 or 5 players and bowl 3 games. The length of the season is determined by the bowling centre. Your higher average bowlers may want to form a scratch league with fewer players and more games - 3 player teams bowling 4 or 5 games. Bowl Canada Cup - a brand new event that leads to a provincial and national championship. You can bowl with your own team and/or make a team (any 5 people from the same centre) This starts in league play, then a house final leading to provincials. Winners at the the provincial will advance to the Nationals. Sask 5 If your leagues and/or bowlers choose to join the Sask 5 Pin Bowlers' Association there are a number of events that they can participate in and these are all listed on the Sask 5 page.

11 Bowl Canada Sept Bring a Buddy Tournament Bowl Canada dates are suggested dates, but can be changed to suit you calendar. This is held in house and outside of regular league play. It is a scotch doubles event consisting of 1 YBC bowler and his/her friend or "buddy" who is not currently a member of YBC. Therefore, YBC members who wish to take part in the event must encourage a non YBC member to take part. The entry fee is $.50 for the YBC bowler only. Lineage is to be paid by the participants. 3 games will be bowled using the Scotch Doubles format. Example: The YBC bowler leads off in the first frame - the buddy bowls the 2nd frame - YBC bowler the 3rd frame and so on. While the event consists of 3 games, each participant will in reality only have bowled 1 1/2 games at the end of the tournament. At the conclusion of the tournament and on receipt of the proper order form and entry fees, attractive crests will be issued for all YBC members who took part in the tournament. Participation certificates will be provided for the non YBC member. Champion chevrons will be provided for the winners in each division. Note: This tournament is designed not only to create interest for the YBC member, but also to promote Youth Bowling Canada and stimulate YBC membership. Bowl Canada Sept 17 Kick Off Date for YBC National Fund Campaign Each year, Youth Bowling Canada conducts a fundraising campaign to raise monies that are used in the following ways: 1. The profits are used to provide transportation, meals and other on-site costs for all finalists while they are taking part in Youth Bowl Canada's National Championships, which this season will be held in Alberta. 2. The profits are used to assist your Provincial YBC association in conducting provincial programs and events, including a first class Provincial Championship leading up to the YBC Nationals. 3. The profits are used to assist each participating YBC league by providing funds for shirts, trophies, banquets, tournament travel, etc. Since the profits derived from the campaign are used to cover expenses for the Youth Bowling Canada National Championships as well as other provincial programs and events, bowling centres and YBC membership wishing to participate in these events and programs must adequately take part in the current season's National Fund Campaign.
