1 Under 11 Cricket Australia Stage 1 Cricket Illawarra Junior Playing Conditions ( ) 1 Introduction This document covers the rules specific to the Under 11 Cricket format as played in the Cricket Illawarra Junior competition. It does not include those rules that are unchanged from the MCC Rules; such as wides, no-balls, out caught, run out, etc. All matches are played in accordance with the Association Junior Administration rules, the Junior General Competition & Match Day rules, the Codes & Policies and the MCC Laws of Cricket, except as amended below. All reference documents can be found on the website. 2 CA Format Procedure Stage STAGE 1 Summary Purpose Description Skill Objectives Indicative age Coach Game type Ball Time PLAYING THE GAME COMMUNITY CLUB This format is designed for those kids who have completed the MILO T20 Blast program and are ready for their first taste of junior club competition. Designed to stimulate action and test game sense and skills whether batting, bowling or fielding. Hit moving ball on two side of field Run between wickets with judgement and calling Bowl over 16m with straight arm within batter s reach Catch and throw > 20m Can perform tasks when asked at training and during the game Basic self-awareness and respect for other Participates in all activities at training Eats before a training/ game and brings drink bottle to training and on game days Engages positively at training and on game day Wears appropriate clothing and footwear to training Accredited Community (Level1) Coach T20 (20 over game) U11 Modified ball (circumference cm, ideal weight g)* *Synthetic balls as per endorsed recommendations 120 mins (2hrs) The game can be completed in 2hrs with time saving strategies. The Association / Competition Manager have the option to include a cut off time for the 1st innings if required for local needs including facilities usage, travel time, daylight issues or heat.
2 ( ) Junior Cricket PC5 - Under 11 (CA Stage1) Issue: 11-Oct-17 Page 2 of 5 Protective equipment Boundary Pitch type and length Overs Team Innings Helmet (including the Wicket keeper). * Please refer to Helmet section of the Well- Played Playing Policy & Guidelines Pads Gloves Protector (males) * additional safety equipment is available based on match conditions and/or personal preference 40m (maximum) - measured from batter s end stumps Outfield or hard wicket surface - 16m length 20 overs per team (120 balls) 7 players per team (maximum of 7 players on field) 1 innings of 20 overs per team Batting All batters retire at 17 balls (based on 7 players) * if there is an extra ball to be bowled, the batter facing at the time will face the extra ball (i.e. 17 x 7 = 119) All balls (regardless of whether wides/ no balls) will be included in the batter s ball count. Batter to swap ends following a dismissal. If there is a run out the not out batter should face the next delivery. Bowling 6 balls per over (maximum) All players are to bowl (each Wicket-Keeper is to bowl one over each) e.g. 3 players x 4 overs, 2 players x 3 overs, 2 players x 1 over (i.e. Wicket-Keepers) Coaches are encouraged to rotate the opportunity for players to bowl 4 overs in a match Bowlers are to bowl from the one end for entire game Current Cricket Australia Pace Bowling guidelines apply (please refer to the Well Played Playing Policy & Guidelines) Fielding Rotation of fielders is recommended to ensure all players experience all positions. No fielders within 15 metres of batter or each other (except wicket keeper) to encourage singles and safety Each team is required to use two (2) wicket keepers (10 overs each) If more than 7 players are present at a match, they should rotate onto the field each over. Dismissals Unlimited dismissals (each player will face the nominated number of balls each)
3 ( ) Junior Cricket PC5 - Under 11 (CA Stage1) Issue: 11-Oct-17 Page 3 of 5 Minimum & maximum players and impact Equipment 7 players per team (it is understood that teams often contain additional players to cater for holidays, illness or other commitments) 5 players per team minimum are required to play the game 9 players per team maximum are to be allocated to a team (only 7 on field at any given time). Only 7 players can be on the field at any given time i.e. only 7 can bat and bowl, however, any non-batter(s) can bowl The number of players impact the players opportunity to develop skills in the game, for example; 5 player team 5 players bowl 4 overs and batters retire at 24 balls 6 player team 2 players bowl 4 overs; 4 players bowl 3 overs and batters retire at 20 balls 7 player team 3 players bowl 4 overs; 2 players bowl 3 overs: 2 players bowl 1 over (wk) and batters retire at 17 balls 8 player team - 6 players bowl 3 overs; 2 players bowl 1 over (WK) and batters retire at 15 balls 9 player team - 4 players bowl 3 overs; 3 players bowl 2 overs; 2 players bowl 1 over (wk) and batters retire at 13 balls sets of portable stumps (with base and bails) *minimum of 1 set of portable stumps Bat size: Size 4 (<1.8lb or <800gm) is recommended Modified ball (as per specifications above) Measuring tape or string to measure Pitch length and boundary Boundary markers Chalk, tape or paint to mark crease 3 Local Format Procedures Ball Modified ball (circumference cm, ideal weight g) Synthetic balls Junior Size Gray Nicolls Wonder Ball, Aero, Kookaburra Rookie, Kookaburra Softaball (should clubs have old stock) Ball can be used for 2 matches (or more) if in fairly good condition Times Match duration = 8:00 am 10:00 am (unless there are interruptions to play) Session 1 = 8:00 am 8:55 am (55 minutes) Break = change of innings (10 minutes) Session 2 = 9:05 am 10:00 am (55 minutes)
4 ( ) Junior Cricket PC5 - Under 11 (CA Stage1) Issue: 11-Oct-17 Page 4 of 5 Lost Time, wet weather & interruptions to play Equipment Responsibility Match Results & Player Stats Match cut off time = 10:30 am Session times = remaining match time divided equally between teams with new session cut off times determined and advised Overs per team calculation = based on 2.8 minutes per over Player opportunities = Batting (balls faced) and bowling (balls bowling) proportionally reduced to revised overs per team Minimum number of overs per team = 7 overs 1) Each team provides appropriate team playing equipment such as helmets, batting pads and gloves, scoring material, etc. balls required for fielding and bowling. 2) Nominated home team to provide the stumps, bails, boundary markers and batting tees as required and spares if necessary. set-up field and pitch organise the opening/closing of facilities etc. at the match ground.
