ELIGIBILITY This Championship is open to all paid up members of OCC and NTUC and its affiliates. Players participating in this tournament must be certified by their respective union General Secretary. Players failing to observe this ruling will result in disqualification of the team. 2. COMPOSITION OF TEAM and ENTRANCE FEE Each Union is only allowed to send two Mixed teams and/or one Ladies team of 3 bowlers each. Any submission of more than the stipulated number of teams must seek the approval from the Organizing Committee. Priority will be given to the first team of each Union on a first come first serve basis. Women Bowlers bowling in the Mixed team category are given a Handicap of 7 pins per game. Current National players are not allowed to register. However, each team is allowed to register one Ex-National player (from National Squad listing before year 2004). The entrance fee shall be $250 per team for all categories and each team shall be entitled to a tournament souvenir, all games played and a table for 10 pax at the Victory Luncheon on 3rd October 2010 at Orchid Country Club Ballroom. 2 3. FORMAT OF PLAY Each game shall be bowled on a pair of lanes. Teams and / or Individual shall, successively and in order, bowl one frame on each lane, alternate for the next frame using adjoining lane until five frames are bowled on each lane, thus completing the game. When any question arises as to whom of any two bowlers shall bowl first, it is incumbent upon the bowler on the right to do so. 4. COMPETITION OF EVENTS Schedule of events shall be as follows: Mixed Orchid Country Club SINGLE/DOUBLES - THREE (3) games - 19 th September 2010 MASTERS - EIGHT (8) games - 26 th September 2010 TEAM of 3 - THREE (3) games - 3 rd October 2010 Ladies The Chevrons SINGLE/DOUBLES - THREE (3) games - 18 h September 2010 MASTERS - EIGHT (8) games - 25 th September 2010 TEAM of 3 - THREE (3) games - 3 rd October CONDUCTS OF EVENTS a) SINGLE: Three (3) games in one block with two persons from the same union, when feasible, scheduled per lane. Each game shall be played on a different pair of lanes. b) DOUBLE: Three (3) games in one block, each game to be played on a different pair of lanes. c) TEAMS of 3: Three (3) games in one block, each game to be played on a different pair of lanes. (Each Team can send up to 2 teams of three players each) d) MASTERS: Each Team shall nominate 2 bowlers to participate in the Master's event and will bowl a block of Eight (8) games. 2

3 6. BOWLING BALLS i) It is the Bowler's responsibility to ensure that all bowling balls used by him/her during the Championship are verified for correctness of weight and other specification, conforming to WTBA Rules and Regulations. The Tournament Manager or the Technical Committee reserves the right to recall any bowling ball for inspection at any time. ii) Altering the surface of the bowling ball during a game IS NOT ALLOWED (i.e. only after completion/before commencement of each game), provided they are made at designed area and it must not delay the bowler s and next turn. 7. INTERRUPTED GAMES i) The Tournament Director may authorise the completion of a game and series on another pair of lanes when equipment failure on the starting lane would delay the normal progress of the series. An interrupted game and series that cannot be completed on the same date must resume from the point of interruption. ii) In the event of the score of any game is lost/erased and cannot be recalled and/or traced due to power or equipment failure, the bowler concerned will be required to re-bowl a new game when the power supply resumes or equipment is repaired. However, all scores of completed games that have been recorded in the official score sheet shall remain unchanged. 8. BOWLING ON WRONG LANE When only one (1) player or the leadoff bowler on both teams bowls on a wrong lane and the error is discovered before another player has bowled a dead ball shall be declared and the player(s) required re-bowling on the correct lane(s). When more than one (1) player on the same team has bowled on the wrong lane, the game shall be completed without adjustment and the next game shall be started on the correctly scheduled lane. 3

4 9. TIE BREAKING PROCEDURES The player or team with highest score in the event shall be the winner. i) When equal scores (ties) are registered for any of the first three (3) positions in the Singles, Doubles, Teams of Three and Masters, there shall be no play-off and Co-Champions or Co-Winners shall be declared. Teams or players with equal scores will get the same medals and the next position will get in case of a tie for the first position, a bronze medal, and in case of a tie for the second or third position, no medal at all. 10. SLOW BOWLING Bowlers, who are in readiness to step on the approach to deliver a ball, shall have the following rights and obligations: i) They may claim right of way over anyone to the approach or preparing to bowl on the lane immediately on their left. ii) iii) iv) They may claim right of way over anyone moving towards the approach or preparing to bowl on the lane immediately on their right. Players shall be ready to bowl when it is their turn and shall not delay the start of their approach or delivery, if a lane immediately adjacent to them on the left and right side is clear. Penalty will be imposed to bowlers who are four (4) frames (for Singles, Doubles, and Masters Events) and two (2) frames (for Team event) slower from the leader not counting the end pairs of lanes. The penalty will be to forfeit the score in the next frame. 11. VERIFICATION OF SCORES It is the bowler s responsibility to ensure that the correct score for each game bowled is recorded in the official score sheet by signing in the official score sheet, which will be used as the official score record. Once signed, the scores shall stand unless otherwise decided by the Tournament Committee. If the score sheet is not signed for any reason, the Tournament Committee reserves the right to refuse acceptance of the score sheet. 4

5 12. BOWLER S ATTIRE All participants in the competition preferably are to wear a standard uniform with the name of respective Union/Club/Co-operatives/Affiliates printed at the back of the shirt. 13. SUBMISSION OF LINE-UP All final line-ups for the next event must be submitted to the Tournament Director one hour after the last squad of the ongoing event. 14. PROHIBITION The players must not smoke, consume alcohol or be under the influence of alcohol while in competition; i.e. during the entire period of his block of games. In instances where it is established that a player is in breach of the rule, he/she may be suspended by the Technical Committee from the tournament for the block of games then being played. Non-alcoholics' beverages are allowed provided they are not consumed in the player's area. 15. PROTEST - ELIGIBILITY Protest involving the eligibility or general playing rules must be confirmed in writing to a responsible Tournament official not later than 24 hours after the game in which the infliction occurred. If no written protest is entered prior to the expiration of the 24 hours period, the game shall stand as bowled. Each protest under this rule must be specific in itself and this rule shall not be construed to cover a similar or previous violation. 16. PROTEST - ERROR Errors in scoring or errors in calculation in tournament play must be corrected by a responsible Tournament Official immediately upon the discovery of such error. The Tournament Committee shall decide upon questionable errors. The time limit for filing protests on scoring errors shall be one (1) hour after the event or block of games for each day of the tournament, but must be before the prize presentation or the commencement of the next round (in an elimination event) whichever is sooner. Each protest under this rule must be specific in itself and this rule shall not be construed to cover a previous or similar violation. 5

6 17. APPEAL PROCEDURE All matters, which cannot be settled by the Lane Marshal of the Day, shall be heard and reviewed by the Tournament Technical Committee. The decision of the Tournament Technical Committee is final unless there is an appeal to the Tournament Committee within 24 hours after the decision is announced, or before prize presentation, whichever is the sooner. Protests on eligibility arising after the conclusion of the championships shall be filed directly with the Tournament Committee within 24 hours. All appeals from the Tournament Technical Committee s decisions must be filed in writing with the Lane Marshal of the Day or with a member of the Tournament Committee, or with the General Secretary of union. Each appeal must be specific and include a fee of $50. If the Tournament Committee does not uphold the appeal, the fee will be forfeited. The foregoing also applies to protests filed directly with the Tournament Technical Committee. 6

If there is more than 1 winner with the same highest score, the trophy will be given to each individual but cash to be shared equally amongst the high game winners of the respective Divisions. The highest game is only applicable to games bowled during singles, doubles and team of 3. 7

8 19. OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIP (SG CUP) Points will be awarded to the Teams for all Singles, Doubles, Teams of Three, All Event and Masters based on the following by event: Gold Medallist - 5 points Silver Medallist - 3 points Bronze Medallist - 2 points 4 th Place - 1 point The team with the most points shall be accorded the Overall Championship Cup. Points will only be awarded to the first two registered teams of each union. The union of the Championship Team shall be allowed to keep the Championship Cup and to return the Cup in good condition 30 days before the next U Grand Masters Championship commences. Any union that have emerged as overall Championship Team for three consecutive years can have the honour to keep the Championship Cup. As part of the U Games, points will be allocated to participating unions/associations. The points will be allocated as follows: Champion 300 points 1 st Runner-up 250 points 2 nd Runner-up 200 points 3 rd Runner-up 100 points 4 th to 8 th position 70 points Participation points 50 pts per Union NEBO, Active Aging, Young NTUC and those teams registered under the Cooperatives are participants but they will not be entitled to the U Games points allocation. 20. NATIONAL LEAGUE 2011 by SBF The top nine (9) bowlers based on the total pin falls of 3 events (Single, Doubles and Teams of 3) shall be invited to form a team (Team NTUC) representing NTUC, to participate the forthcoming National Bowling League 2011 organised by SBF. The League schedules are determined by SBF. In the event, any of the invited bowlers is unable to participate the National League 2011, the bowler with the next highest pin falls will be invited and so forth till the 15 th bowler. All bowlers must be union members. Failing which to fulfil the Team members, Organising Committee shall have the sole discretion to elect other bowlers. 8

9 The Organising Committee reserve the right to reject any bowlers or elect additional bowlers to the Team NTUC. Trophy fees and weekly games fees including entrance fees for the Masters event shall be borne by the Organising Committee and two T-shirts shall be accorded to each bowler. Bowlers shall keep their individual awards/prizes including Masters Event and Organising Committee shall keep all Team awards/prizes. 21. MATTERS NOT PROVIDED FOR The Tournament Committee whose decision shall be final and not subjected to any appeal shall decide any matters arising and not covered in these Tournament Rules and Regulations. 9
