1 There are many jobs that need doing to ensure the club functions, let alone begin to achieve more on and off the pitch. But like many things, it is always easier doing something if you feel you are not on your own and are getting support; also, the jobs can be made small and easy if more people pitch in. Indeed, you don t have to take up a role, you just need to be aware of how things are run and then do your bit by helping to keep rubbish off the pitch area, or helping to keep the clubhouse tidy. Paying your subs and match tax promptly and, above all else, making your availability known as early as possible. The club jointly owns Goosedale with the cricket club. The football club rents the facilities. The ground is held in trust, with two trustees from each of the two owning clubs. If one of the clubs ceases to exist or to play at the ground, then their rights defer to the remaining club. If both clubs cease to exist or use Goosedale then the current understanding is that the ground and clubhouse are gifted to the local Gedling council for sport usage (i.e., the ground cannot be sold for the profit of one or the other clubs). The trustees are ultimately responsible for the financial wellbeing of Goosedale, but they pass this to the Goosedale Executive who are responsible for the running of Goosedale. The executive has, over the decades, tended to be dominated by one of the owning clubs; currently this is the cricket club, although NHC has become active members of the executive over the last two years. Priorities are different for each club and it is often hard to get consensus over some matters - i.e., both clubs agree that money needs to be spent on the clubhouse, but they differ on the priorities, with NHC seeing the showers and changing rooms as the main area that needs attention. Goosedale is essentially run by volunteers volunteers who are not getting any younger. Also, NHC have not been very involved in physically volunteering or helping around Goosedale in recent years. The cricketers and footballers have been more involved. The current situation with the pitch and with are contribution to the running of Goosedale means that there needs to be a concerted effort around the future strategy of NHC and the implementation of that strategy. This means that the day to day running of the club needs to be carried out by one set of people (and made easy by all members contributing by making things run smoothly), while a group can concentrate on the future of the club. The latter does not absolve other members from being interested or involved it is vital that they are, but at the moment we are not getting any movement in an area that is absolutely vital to the club. So all the good things that have happened over the last couple of years will all mean nothing if we don t start working on the bigger picture.

We need more than one person who can carry out DBS checks. All members have responsibility for ensuring there is a safe and no bullying environment.

Currently it has been done by GH, WJ and DR. EH and local council liaison Handles the communication with England Hockey and our local council sports contact This is the main starting point for funding and grants. 6 Tea room Acts as the main contact(s) for the stocking and running of the tea room. They will also sort out volunteers for when the team room needs maning (e.g., JDC) There needs to be two people from two teams playing at Goosedale on alternative weekends. They will act as the main contact points for the captains, etc. Vacant (W Johnson) Plus Volunteers Goosedale executive NHC members need to represent the club on the Goosedale Executive. One member will either have the post of Chair or of Treasurer. Another member will act as Secretary during the Hockey season It is vital that we participate in the Goosedale Executive. We own half of the ground and are responsible for its upkeep and usage. We need to ensure that what happens at Goosedale benefits all the clubs and that affairs are not run for the benefit of just one of the founding clubs / owners. 1. G Hulme (treasurer) [Retiring] 2. G Cunningham [Retiring] General up & maintenance There are many jobs that EVERYONE needs to participate in. - Picking up rubbish (especially around the pitch - Emptying the pitch bins - Keeping the changing rooms, showers clean - Keeping the kitchen and clubhouse clean - Upkeep of the clubhouse and pitch area These are jobs that either everyone should ensure are kept under control (pick up rubbish, empty bins), or ones that people join working groups to carry out (Spruce The Goose activities)
