3 Team of the Week: U14 Boys Cricket v BISAD Brighton 45 4 (16 Overs) / 37 All Out (14.5 Overs) Batting: Aidan Spencer 16 Arsh Shaikh (no) 11 Bowling: (Overs, Maidens, Runs, Wickets) Cameron Gallacher 3O 0M 5R 3W Ethan Sterley 3O 0M 8R 3W Arsh Shaikh 2O 1M 1R 0W Aidan Spencer 3O 1M 3R 1W MOM Aidan Spencer (Cpt) After two loses on the bounce the U14 Cricket Team produced an outstanding performance to win their first cricket match last Thursday at Cranleigh against BISAD. Brighton won the toss and elected to bat first on Cranleigh s artificial wicket with Aidan Spencer (Cpt) and Charles Plant opening the batting. Aidan led a solid captain s innings, securing one end of the wicket, showing great attacking and defensive when required and top scoring in the match on 16. Brighton lost some quick wickets in the middle order but Arsh Shaikh, coming in at number 5, ensured some quick runs at the end of the innings. BISAD were set a target of 46 to win off 16 overs. Cameron Gallacher opened the bowling for Brighton taking his first of three wickets in the first over. This set the tone for the innings, with Brighton bowling and fielding with determination in defending such a small target. At the other end, Aidan bowled some very good lines, only giving away three runs off his three overs. Alongside the bowling, Brighton s fielding was excellent, putting pressure on the batsmen to take risky singles. This produced four run outs in the match, leaving BISAD needing thirteen off the last two overs. The last wicket fell in the penultimate over, with BISAD still needing nine to win. Well done to all the boys involved and good team effort! U14 Cricket Team Cameron Gallacher, Aditya Kasture, George Moss, Charles Plant, Joseph Randall, Aidan Spencer, Ethan Sterley, Zain Husain, Marcos Garcia Bravo and Arsh Shaikh.

4 Brighton College u Cranleigh u16 [Substitutes] - Omar Al-Bukhari, Alejandro Lozano-Kramer (used), Saad (used) This week saw Brighton's first away fixture against the U16s of Cranleigh School played in Saadiyat. After last week's brilliant performance, the boys were expected to yet again put on a show, yet unfortunately failed to meet the high standards that they set against BSAK s B team, reluctant to finish with a draw in this more than close game. Immediately, within arrival, things didn't entirely go to plan, with both teams being told to play on a 7-a-side pitch. This inconvenience was further added to by the usage of 11 men per team, on such a small playing ground. Nevertheless, the game kicked off and Brighton seemed to be dominating possession, yet only slightly above the home side - almost at equilibrium. The first half remained rather uneventful, yet when it came to Brighton shooting, Cranleigh's goalkeeper kept out multiple good attempts on goal, pulling off some great saves whilst doing so. This added to the boys frustrations, with plenty of quick passing required in order to adapt Brighton's style of play for the smaller pitch. This adaptation, however, did not come easily and the ball never really settled dominantly in either half. The second half commenced, but Brighton appeared to be less engaged than in the first, with a few defensive errors luckily being recovered by the midfield on numerous occasions. More shots were kept out by the Cranleigh keeper, until a Brighton goal kick saw the ball going over the top of the home side's defenders, only to be played by Sam Oliver to David Dadson who managed to score. This however provoked much aggression from Cranleigh, who then produced a counter-attack, gaining a corner then scoring after a poor goalkeeping decision made by captain Nabil Butcher. The game continued with a lack in anything significant, other than the final whistle blowing and the boys running to eat a slice of cake provided by the hosts! On the whole, this performance from Brighton meant that the 3 crucial points needed to do well were traded for 1 instead.

5 Brighton Pupils shine in Touch Rugby Brighton College Year 5 boys (William Croft, Charlie Moss and Rashed Busaibe) took part in the HSBC rugby tournament, representing Abu Dhabi Harlequins Under 10 B team, and won the Bowl trophy.
