1 Emerging Pakistan Branding on London s iconic Double-Decker Buses London s iconic red double-decker buses are carrying brand Pakistan on the roads of Central London, the hub of world tourists. This ultimate branding campaign is running under the theme of Emerging Pakistan and will continue for four weeks. The initiative is a part of celebrations planned by the Pakistan High Commission London for the 70th Independence Anniversary of Pakistan this year. Fully wrapped double-decker buses are showcasing the pristine beauty of Pakistan with its highest peaks, beautiful landscape, rare fauna, monuments representing ancient civilization, magnificent architecture and rich and diverse culture. The moving buses are creating unparalleled lasting visual impact on millions of pedestrians and motorists alike, especially on the tourists. The amazingly wrapped buses carrying Pakistan s images have gone viral on social media. Millions are posting images of the buses on social media. On this occasion, Commissioner to the UK said: Pakistan branding on the iconic London buses is projecting true image of Pakistan in London which is the hub of the foreign tourists. This publicity campaign showcases the beauty of Pakistan, its culture, landscape and people, and will help promote tourism in Pakistan in the most effective way. The recent social uplift and economic prosperity in Pakistan underpins the theme of the campaign i.e. Emerging Pakistan, as acknowledged by many independent international organisations. This campaign has been sponsored by Bestway Group. High Commissioner hosts Eid-ul-Fitr Open House in London Commissioner to the UK, hosted Eidul-Fitr Open House at his official residence, Pakistan House in London on 25 June 2017, to celebrate the auspicious occasion with the Pakistani community in the UK and friends of Pakistan in the British society. Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana, Governor Punjab was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. The Governor appreciated High Commissioner s initi- ative to reach out and connect with the community. A large number of guests from all walks of society attended the Open House and were served with traditional Pakistani cuisine. The guests included Mayors, Ambassadors/High Commissioners, Councillors, community leaders, prominent business persons, members of the Pakistani and British society, representatives of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), and Department for International Development (DFID), officers from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, officials of the High Commission as well as their families and media representatives. Some visiting Parliamentarians and guests from Pakistan and Shahryar Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board were also in attendance on the occasion. The High Commissioner and his wife spent the day with the community mem- bers representing all ages and interests. The attendees termed the event a great opportunity to socialize and meet and greet each other on this happy occasion. Top position holders from Pakistan visit the High Commission A group of thirty-one top position holder students of Matric, Intermediate and Graduation levels from all over Pakistan visited the Pakistan High Commission London on 05 June Welcoming the students, H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas, Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK, congratulated them on their academic achievements. He commended students aspirations to serve Pakistan in diverse fields and asked them to be a proud Pakistani. The High Commissioner hoped that their interaction with a host of public and private institutions in the UK would be Honour for Hanzala Ahmed, an outstanding Pakistani student cricketer Commissioner to the UK, presented a cricket bat to Hanzala Ahmed, as a token of appreciation, on his excellent performance in school cricket. Hanzala plays cricket for Wanstead Cricket Club Under 12 team where he displayed an outstanding game and was given a chance to play for Under 13 as well as Under 15. Recently Hanzala was selected by his school and Essex County as Cricket Ambassador/Leader for Spain to coach Spanish students and travelled to Spain for coaching last month. The Festival continued from 30 June to 10 July An International Mushaira was arranged with the cooperation of Yorkshire Adabee Forum and Bradford Literature Festival on 30 June A large number of poets from Pakistan, UK, France and Germany presented their poetry. The event was attended by more than 250 guests and has been widely covered by electronic and print media in Yorkshire. The event also included a Ghazal performance by local vocalist Shabnam Khan. The participants thoroughly enjoyed the event.
