4 Bowdon Cricket Club is committed to ensuring that equity is incorporated across all aspects of its development. In doing so it acknowledges and adopts the following Sport England definition of sports equity: Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible to everyone in society. The club respects the rights, dignity and worth of every person and will treat everyone equally within the context of their sport, regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality or social/economic status. The club is committed to everyone having the right to enjoy their sport in an environment free from threat of intimidation, harassment and abuse. All club members have a responsibility to oppose discriminatory behaviour and promote equality of opportunity. The club will deal with any incidence of discriminatory behaviour seriously, according to its disciplinary procedures. Bowdon Cricket Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. JUNIOR CLUB RULES Bowdon Cricket Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members including its Young People. Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play) and develop an appropriate working relationship with parents and children, based on mutual trust and respect. 4. Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance 5. Always work in an open environment (i.e. avoid private or unobserved situations and encourage an open environment) and inform players and parents of the requirements of cricket. 6. Know and understand the ECB s Safe Hands Cricket s Policy for Safeguarding Children Consider the well-being and safety of participants before the development of performance. 7. Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part 8. Never exert undue influence over performers to obtain personal benefit or reward 9. Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibitive substances Guidelines for Club Changing Policy The club has applied the following guidelines which apply to Adults and Young People (under the age of 16) sharing changing facilities. 1. Players aged 10 and under must be supervised at all times with 2 adults of the same gender. 2. Adults should try to change and shower at separate times to Young Players. 3. If Adults and Young Players need to share a changing facility, the Club must have consent from the Parents that their child/children can share a changing room with adults in the club. 4. If Young People need to share changing facilities with Adults, their Parents should be allowed to supervise them whilst they are changing. If Young People are uncomfortable changing or showering with Adults, no pressure should be placed on them to do so. Encourage them to do this at home. Use Of Outdoor Net Facilities (inc outside organised days and times) As the result of a comprehensive risk assessment, the club has formulated a policy for the use of the outdoor net facilities. All paid up cricket club members are entitled to use the net facilities providing: the session is managed by a suitably responsible person; and all juniors MUST wear relevant protective equipment when using a hard ball. 1. Access to the facilities is open to all members and members are required to leave the facilities as they would wish to fin them. 2. The club is keen to encourage all members, whether junior or senior, to practice in the nets whenever they can do so, providing: (a) Weather conditions are suitable. (b) The playing surface will not be adversely affected by usage at that time. (c) Any remedial rolling or watering required to maintain the facility is carried out by those using it, and not left to others, in consultation with the ground staff. 3. Any child under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (ideally a parent), and it must be recognized that over - bowling is detrimental to their physical development, and restrict their activity accordingly. The nets must only be used for legitimate cricket practice only. 4. All players must agree that they will conduct themselves in a manner that avoids jeopardising their own safety, and that of others, and that the club cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for incidents occurring during unsupervised practice.
