1 Technical Notification 96 Dated: April 19, 2012 Revised July 4, 2013 (Added Level Base and Choreographic Step Sequences and Updated Names of Showcase Events) Revised June 5, 2014 (Added Pre-Juvenile Free Dance segment) Re: IJS Calculations for Nonqualifying Level Events and Non Standard Elements Scale of Values Modifications to Technical Notification 44 This Technical Notification provides numeric factors and event formats for IJS scoring of nonqualifying-level events in competitions held by U.S. Figure Skating clubs. There are specific IJS scoring requirements for qualifying-level events for juvenile and above levels in singles, pairs and ice dancing, as well as certain levels of synchronized skating and adult skating events. For other events, clubs have latitude within the rules for setting requirements in nonqualifying competitions. The following tables provide IJS scoring of nonqualifying-level events at nonqualifying competitions. Clubs are not required to use IJS for nonqualifying-level events; however if clubs choose to use IJS for nonqualifying-level events per rule 1235(C), the accountants are to use the system officially selected by U.S. Figure Skating. This Technical Notification serves as notice of the values and factors for the official calculation software. Included: Tables of ors for all free skate events pre-juvenile and below and other nonqualifying events. Tables of ors for interpretive and showcase nonqualifying events. Scale of Values for non-standard elements for half-jumps, compulsory moves and moves in the field. Version 2.0 Page 1 of 11

2 Tables of ors The following terminology is used in the tables of factors: El The maximum number of elements to be scored in the event The maximum number of program components used to score the event The numerical weighting factor for program component 1 The numerical weighting factor for program component 2 The numerical weighting factor for program component 3 The numerical weighting factor for program component 4 The numerical weighting factor for program component 5 A factor that reduces the standard deduction values Seg The numerical weighting factor for the event segment in a combined event No Test Per rule 4280 Free Skate 1-6 The Basic Skills specialty classes Basic 1-8 The Basic Skills fundamental classes Snowplow Sam 1-3 The Basic Skills fundamental classes In the table of factors, when five [5] program components are used, the standard program component names and criteria apply. When three [3] program components are used, the following criteria apply: 1. Skating Skills & Transitions/Footwork & Movement 2. Performance/Execution 3. Choreography/Composition & Interpretation If a skater has markedly different skills in Skating Skills and Transitions, the marks should reflect the average of the two, and similarly for Choreography and Interpretation. When two [2] program components are used (i.e. No Test Free Skate), the following criteria apply: 1. Skating Skills & Transitions/Footwork & Movement 2. Performance/Execution & Choreography/Composition & Interpretation Note to Accountants: Program component weights are the product of the Program Component ors and the General Component or.
