1 2018 Natinal Cmpetitin Guidelines Dance Educatrs Of America, Inc. Is A Nn Prfit Teaching Organizatin And Requires Sprtsman Like Behavir At All Times. RULE CHANGES AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ARE IN RED ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: T participate in the a Natinal Cmpetitin, teachers alng with their cmpeting students MUST be registered fr Natinal Cnventin Wrkshp and Natinal Cmpetitin using the Dance Educatrs f America, Inc. nline registratin system A teacher r student may register fr nly the Natinal Wrkshp Classes and des nt have t cmpete in the cmpetitin Teachers and students using Natinal Schlarships will be required t stay at the hst htel. The name f the hst staying, name f the persn that the rm is registered under and the rm number will be cllected fr all thse using Schlarships t the Natinal event. If the teacher and the student are nt registered at the hst htel the schlarship will becme null and vid and the student will be charged the wrkshp fee. An exceptin is when student lives in the Hst City. Rutines with the exact same dancers may cmpete at the Dance Educatrs f America, Inc. Natinal Cmpetitin but are eligible t win nly ne (1) award in the same Age Categry/Entry Type Teachers and students are required t purchase a banquet ticket fr the Natinal Awards Banquet student is cmpeting. Owner/Teacher(s) r Salaried Emplyees r Assistant Teachers that are cmpeting in a rutine, the rutine must be submitted n a Semi-Prfessinal Level. Semi-Prfessinal Level, Pre Cmpetitive and Pre Small Fry and Extended Senir Age Categry rutines are nt eligible fr Cash Awards, DEA Dllars, Schlarships, High Scre Award r Overall Tp 5 Award; but will be awarded a Medal, Plaque and Pins. The Overall Tp 5 in thse levels r age categry will receive a plaque. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 28 Days in advance f the event using the Dance Educatrs f America, Inc. nline registratin system. Please ensure accuracy f the dancer s age and spelling f their name, rutine and music. REGISTRATION: All registratin must be dne using Dance Educatrs f America, Inc. nline registratin system. Entries will be accepted n a first cme, first serve basis and will be limited t the amunt f cmpetitin time available. Once a cmpetitin is annunced as SOLD OUT, a nnrefundable 25% depsit fee will be required f studis wh wuld like t guarantee their cmpetitin rutines and the registered rutines will be guarantee at the time the depsit is received. 2 PAYMENT: Credit Card payment can be made using the nline checkut system. We accept Visa, MC, Discver and American Express. Payments may be made by check r mney rder and the date paid will be the date that Dance Educatrs f America. Inc. receives the payment. The registratin is nt cmplete until payment is received. Teachers must be registered 28 days frm the start f the event. Teachers nt registered and paid in full will nt have students entered in the event schedule and their accunts will recalculate at the higher price 14 days frm the event. Dance Educatrs f America, Inc. Rebate: Registers and pay in full fr their cmpetitin/cnventin registratin 45 days befre the cmpetitin/cnventin reginal event will receive a rebate n their cmpetitin fees. Member that spends $1,000- $4,999 per Cmpetitin Registratin (nt including Cnventin Registratin fees) receives a 5% rebate f their cmpetitin fees Member that spends $5,000 - $9,999 per Cmpetitin Registratin (nt including Cnventin registratin fees) receives a 10% rebate f their cmpetitin fees Member that spends $10,000 & up per Cmpetitin Registratin (nt including Cnventin Registratin fees) receives a 15% rebate f their cmpetitin fees Accunts that are nt paid in full within the 14 days will autmatically recalculate at the adjusted rate. Checks must be received in the ffice by the due date. INJURED DANCERS: Dancers that are injured prir r at the Natinal Event, with the prper dcumentatin a credit may be issued t the registering studi, t be used at a Reginal Cmpetitin during next tur seasn REFUND POLICY: ALL cmpetitin & cnventin fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Dance Educatrs f America, Inc. can issue a credit t the teachers accunt that can be used fr next year Reginal Cmpetitin. LOSS & INJURY: Dance Educatrs f America, Staff, Faculty, the husing facility and cmpetitin lcatin are nt respnsible fr persnal injury r prperty lss. FLASH PHOTOS OR VIDEO: Flash phtgraphy and videgraphy is strictly prhibited and may result in a disqualificatin. A prfessinal Videgrapher will be at every reginal event and vides may be purchased with the cnsent f the teacher. AGE CALCULATION: The age f student(s) as f January 1 f the current year will be used at Reginals and Natinal Registratins t calculate the age. The average age f all students in a rutine, drpping the decimal is used t determine the Age Categry. AGE CATEGORY: The same Grup r Line entries cannt cmpete in mre than ne age divisin. The Pre-Small Fry, Extended/Senir and Adult Age Categries rutines are nt eligible fr Cash Awards, DEA Dllars, Schlarships, r High Scre Award; but will be awarded a Medal, Plaque and Pins. 3 BUMP RULE: Applies when there is a 2+ Age Categry differential between a rutines average dancer s Age Categry and the ldest dancer in the rutine. The Bump Rule will determine the Age Categry that a rutine cmpetes, based n the ages f the dancers. Fr rutines that have lder dancers that are dancing with dancers f a yunger age, if it is determined that there is a 2+ Age Categry differential, we will bump the Age Categry f that rutine up ne Age Categry. CLASS/LEVEL: PRE-COMPETITIVE LEVEL: this is fr first time cmpetitrs and r dancers(s) with limited cmpetitin experience. Any level that cntains 25% r mre f cmpetitive level dancers must be entered in the cmpetitive level. Pre-Cmpetitive Level rutines are nt eligible fr Cash Awards, DEA Dllars, Schlarships, r High Scre Award; but can be awarded a Medal, Plaque and Pins. COMPETITIVE LEVEL: this level is fr the dancer(s) that cmpete fr Cash Awards, DEA Dllars, Schlarships, r High Scre Award SEMI-PROFESSIONAL LEVEL: Owner/Teacher(s), Assistant Teachers r Salaried Emplyees entries must be submitted as Semi-Prfessinal and there are n exceptins. 4 TIME LIMITS: A 2-pint deductin will result fr every 5 secnds ver the Max Time fr the Entry Type. EXTENDED TIME may be purchased fr $5.00 per minute per rutine. Vulgar, dergatry r sexually suggestive wrds and inapprpriate dance mves are cause fr disqualificatin. TEACHER LINE UP: Upn cmpletin f the Line Up, all Participating Teachers will be able t print the Reginal line up frm their Dance Cmp Genie Studi Accunt. Teachers are respnsible fr cnfirming its accuracy prir t the event. Uncnfirmed line ups are interpreted as crrect and will perfrm as-is. Dance Educatrs f America, Inc. will nt print prgrams n the Reginal Level. Each teacher has the ptin t print the lineup fr the event frm Dance Cmp Genie fr all f their parents. Dance Educatrs f America, Inc. thrugh Dance Cmp Genie has an app fr the phne that can be purchased fr $4.99. This app has the cmpetitin schedule in real time, cnventin infrmatin, faculty and judges alng with restaurant infrmatin. The Dance Educatrs f America, Inc. schlarship fund receives half f all mnies fr this app. TIME & PROGRAM: Students with makeup r cstume changes that require additinal time t prepare between perfrmances MUST nte this when registering. Once the schedule has been issued befre cmpetitin date NO CHANGES will be allwed. PROPS: All prps must be set n stage by the studi within the time limits r additinal time needs t be purchased. Please nte time begins frm the mment the sets/prps start t be set up. Purchase minutes that include set up and strike f yur sets/prps. Please have clean up after prp remval. Dance Educatrs f America, Inc. staff is nt respnsible fr set-up r breakdwn. In the event f damage t the stage, riser, flring r facility as a result f the mvement, set-up r breakdwn f prps, it shall be the financial respnsibility f the applicant teacher. Page 4 f 6

A rutine can nly win ne Cash Award; the rutine with the next highest scre that has nt received a Cash Award will be awarded the Cash Award. 1 st Place Cash Awards: Must be a minimum f 15 rutines in an Age Categry, Entry Type fr 1 st Place Cash Award t be awarded. 2 nd Place Cash Award: Must be a minimum f 20 rutines in an Age Categry, Entry Type fr 2 nd Place Cash Award t be awarded. 3 rd Place Cash Award: Must be a minimum f 25 rutines in an Age Categry, Entry Type fr 3rd Place Cash Award t be awarded. Natinal Directr s Cup: must be 100 sl, du and/r tri s rutines fr the Natinal Directr s Cup Cash Award t be awarded.
