3 General Information Information for both the Sask Skate Invitational and the Sask Open Singles Competition are enclosed within this announcement package. Competitors in the Sask Skate Invitational are invited to compete by their Home Section. Each Section will develop their own selection criteria for inviting their skaters to compete in the Sask Skate Invitational and will notify those skaters who have been selected. Some skaters may not be notified by their Section in regards to their entry into the Invitational by the entry deadline date. If skaters are unsure which competition to enter by the entry deadline date, they should enter the Invitational. Those not selected by their Section will automatically be entered into the corresponding events in the Sask Open Singles Competition. All Men, Pairs, Ice Dance, and Senior Women events are offered only in the Sask Skate Invitational. Skaters do not need an invitation for these events. The Sask Open Singles Competition is open to all skaters not invited to compete in the Sask Skate Invitational. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE 1. RULES & ELIGIBILITY The Sask Skate Invitational and Sask Open Singles Competition are sanctioned by Skate Canada. All events will be conducted in accordance with the regulations as outlined by the International Skating Union and Skate Canada as applicable. Competitors must be eligible skaters as defined in Section 2100 of the Skate Canada Rule Book and be registered skaters in good standing with a Skate Canada affiliated club or skating school. 2. TECHNICAL NOTES a) All amendments or technical changes made by the International Skating Union or Skate Canada will be in effect for this competition. b) Competitors in the Sask Open Singles Competition may skate up one level. 3. CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES Entries must be received by 10:00 PM CST on Wednesday, September 6, Test qualifications are as of September 6, All age qualifications are as of July 1, If only one entry is received for an event, the Host committee reserves the right to cancel the event and refund the entry fee to the competitor. Competitors will be notified following the entry deadline if such a circumstance arises. Late entries will not be accepted for any reason. 4. ONLINE REGISTRATION All registrations must be completed online. The registration site can be accessed on the Competition page of the Skate Canada Saskatchewan website at located with the Sask Skate information. The first time you use the online registration site, you will be required to create a profile by clicking on Register Now. When entering contact information, please use the skater s name. The Skate Canada Number must be entered as per your Skate Canada card (i.e. 10 digits including all zeros). Information is never shared with third parties. Once you have completed your profile and accepted the waivers, you will receive a confirmation screen. You are now ready to register for the competition, click Sign In. Enter your Skate Canada Number (remember to include the zeros) and your password to complete the sign in. Click on Register and select the competition you wish to register. Click Choose and select the events you wish to register in. Changes to Planned Program Sheets may be made online up until Friday, September 22. Page 3 of 14

4 General Information There will be a $20 fee assessed for failing to register Planned Program Elements online by September 22nd deadline. Skaters will not be permitted to register at the competition until this fee has been paid and a Planned Program Sheet has been completed. PRACTICE ICE Practice sessions are not included in the entry fee. Practice sessions will be available for purchase, on a first come first serve basis, at a cost of $25.00 for 20 minutes and will be scheduled accordingly by flight/event as much as possible. Please note that practice sessions may not be on the same ice surface as your competition event. 7. REFUNDS No refunds will be issued for any reason after the closing date of entries. All refunds prior to the deadline will be subject to a 25% Administration Fee. 8. FLIGHT SYSTEM Sask Skate Invitational There are no flights. All events will be limited to a maximum of 18 entries. Sask Open Competition If the number of entries in an event warrants it, a flight system will be used. Flights will be determined by random draw for competitive events and by age for STARSkate events. 9. REGISTRATION Skaters must register at least at least two (2) hours prior to the scheduled start time of their first event but no earlier than 45 minutes before the first event of the day. All music must be handed in at time of registration. 10. MUSIC REQUIREMENTS Competitors, who have music composed especially for their programs, either in wholly or in part, shall be responsible for obtaining a written release from the composer for the use of such music on radio and television, or appropriate clearance from the Performing Rights Society. 5 General Information Music will be accepted electronically via WAV format or submitted on CD at the competition. If music is submitted electronically, a backup CD must be submitted at the competition. Standard Specifications for CDs: 1. Only one (1) program shall be recorded on each CD. 2. The start of the music shall be recorded on the CD at least 3 seconds following the head leader and not more than 5 seconds. 3. CD recording level shall be normal consistent listening level. Music shall be recorded at equal levels on both left and right channels in stereo. 4. Competitor s name followed by music time (not skating time) shall be clearly printed on side one of the CD. Do not apply stick on labels to the CD. 5. Each CD shall be enclosed in its plastic container, also marked with the skater s name, home club, event and total music time. Competitors must hand in their music at the registration desk at least one (1) hour prior to the start of the event. The Organizing Committee will accept no responsibility against damage but will take every precaution to safeguard each CD. 6. A backup CD is a requirement of each competitor and must be handed in at the registration desk along with the Master CD. It should be clearly marked as Copy along with the competitor s name, home club, event and total music time 7. Each Compact Disc shall: a. Be on a standard CR R. Do not use CD RW b. Have the music recorded in Compact disc audio (CDA) or WAV format. Music must not be in MP3, itunes or DVD format. c. Be in good clean playable condition Competitors are responsible for the recovery of their music at the completion of their event. 11. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS (TENTATIVE) Friday, September 29 5:00pm 10:00pm Practice sessions Saturday, September 30 8:00am 10:00pm Practice/Competition Sunday, October 1 8:00am 5:00pm Practice/Competition Practice ice will be scheduled Friday and Saturday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday mornings. A final detailed schedule will be posted on following the entry deadline. 12. ACCIDENTS Skate Canada, Skate Canada Saskatchewan, and the Host Committee undertake no responsibility for damages or injuries suffered by the skater. As a condition of and in consideration of their entries in this competition, all competitors and their parents or guardians shall be deemed to agree to assume all risks or injuries to the competitor s person and property resulting from, or caused by, or connected with the conduct and management of the competitions. An agreement must also be deemed to release any and all claims they may have against the officials, Skate Canada, Skate Canada Saskatchewan, the Host Committee, and their officers. Entries shall be accepted only in accordance with these conditions. 13. AWARDS Medals will be awarded for the top three placements in each event of the competition following the posting of results. Skaters are expected to wear their skates and skating attire for medal presentations. Page 5 of 14

6 General Information 14. COACH ACCREDITATION All coaches must be a minimum of Regional Coach (Primary STARSkate / Level 1) Certified. Skate Canada is no longer providing Coach ID Cards. The following Saskatchewan Competition Accreditation process will be followed: Coaches in Good Standing with Skate Canada will receive accreditation for competitions, providing they meet the minimum NCCP Certification Requirements. Coaches who will not be receiving accreditation will be contacted prior to the competition. LOC will receive a Coach Accreditation List and wristbands for the competition. Coaches will be required to sign in with photo ID to obtain their wristband for the competition. Wristbands must be worn for the entire competition. Wristbands must be presented to security in order to gain access to dressing rooms and rink side areas. Please ensure your athlete has updated their profiles with the correct coach(es). Only skaters and accredited coaches will be permitted in the dressing room and rink side areas. 15. SPONSORSHIP AND ADVERTISING Anyone wishing to place advertising in the competition program or interested in sponsoring an event, please contact the Skate Canada Saskatchewan Section Office at Submissions must be received no later than Friday, August 25, Page 6 of 14

Senior Men & Women Must have passed the complete Gold Free Skating Test. There are no age requirements. Junior Men & Women Must have passed the complete Gold Free Skating Test. Skaters must be under the age of 19 as of July 1, 2017 per ISU Junior age requirements. Novice Men & Women Must have passed the complete Gold Free Skating Test. Skaters must be under the age of 17 as of July 1, Pre Novice Men & Women Must have passed the complete Junior Bronze Free Skating Test or higher. Skaters must be under the age of 16 as of July 1, Juvenile Men & Women Must have passed the complete Junior Bronze Free Skating Test or higher. Skaters will be grouped in two categories as follows: A. U12 Skaters must be under the age of 12 as of July 1, B. U14 Skaters must be under the age of 14 as of July 1, Pre Juvenile Men & Women Must have passed the complete Junior Bronze Free Skating Test or higher. Skaters must not have competed at the Juvenile level or higher in a previous Sectional Championship. Skaters will be grouped in two categories as follows: A. Women must be under the age of 19 and Men under the age of 21 as of July 1, 2017 per ISU Junior age requirements. 1. Short Dance 2. Women must be under the age of 19 and Men under the age of 21 as of July 1, Pattern Dances Cha Cha Congelado & Argentine Tango 2. Free Dance Pre Novice Ice Dance Both skaters must have passed the complete Junior Bronze Dance Test or higher. Both skaters must be under the age of 18 as of July 1, Pattern Dances Rocker Foxtrot & Paso Doble 2. Free Dance Juvenile Ice Dance Both skaters must have passed the complete Junior Bronze Dance Test or higher. Both skaters must be under the age of 16 as of July 1, Pattern Dances Willow Waltz & Keats Foxtrot 2. U10 Skaters must be under the age of 12 as of July 1, B. U13 Skaters must be under the age of 13 as of July 1, C. 13&O Skaters 13 years old or older as of July 1, STAR 6 Free Skating (Men and Women) MUST have passed the complete STAR 5 (Jr. Bronze) Free Skate test. Skaters may be grouped by age if numbers warrant. STAR 7 Short Program (Men and Women) MUST have passed the complete STAR 5 (Jr. Bronze) Free Skate test. Skaters may be grouped by age if numbers warrant. STAR 8 Free Skating (Men and Women) MUST have passed the complete STAR 5 (Jr. Bronze) Free Skate test. Skaters may be grouped by age if numbers warrant. STAR 9 Short Program (Men and Women) MUST have passed the complete STAR 5 (Jr. Bronze) Free Skate test. 12 Sask Open Events STAR Jump Events This event is open to all STARSkate, Pre Juvenile and Juvenile competitors. Skaters must register in the same stream as their Free Skate event. For example, a skater in Pre Juvenile Free Skate may only register in the Pre Juvenile or Juvenile Jump Event. A skater in a STAR event must register in a STAR Jump Event. All events will be conducted in an Assessment to Standard with ranking format. Once the event is called the skaters will report to the Referee. There is to be no coaching between the elements. Coaches are not allowed on the ice. Jumps will be skated in the order listed. The first jump will be performed by every skater in the event before the second jump is performed, and so on. Each jump may only be attempted once. Extra choreography and footwork will not be permitted in this event. STAR 5 events will use half ice to perform their jumps. STAR 6 to Gold events will use full ice.
