8 District 8 Referee Panel District 8 is proud to announce the continued success of the District Referee Panel & Committee. Currently in its 5th season the goal of this panel continues to ensure the consistency and quality to all District 8 competitions by enforcing the ISI guidelines and procedures. The members of this panel have gone through training endorsed by the ISI national office. Each referee is a current ISI professional member, gold certified judge, and ISI Certified Referee. Each competition will be supplied with a referee for the duration of their competition to ensure quality judging and rule interpretation. In order to continue supplying each competition with qualified individuals an additional $2 per competitor and $15 per team is added to each entry fee to support this program. This fee is included in the entry fee. Thank you for supporting the district s continued efforts to provide fair and positive experiences for all its skaters, parents and coaches. Performance Rules for All routines shall start from a stationary position. Timing for all events will begin with any action after the music begins. 2. There will be a ten-second leeway over the prescribed time on Freestyle programs. Judging will stop at 10 seconds over the prescribed time. If the skater skates seconds over, he/she will be given the grade of 8. If the skater skates 15 seconds or beyond, he/she will be given the grade of 5. Any required maneuver done past the 10 second leeway will receive a 0 for duration. There is no penalty for skating under the prescribed time. 3. There will be a short warm-up period before each division. 4. Pre-Alpha, Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta skaters must include one and only one additional maneuver from F.S. 1. Duration will be scored for Pre-Alpha through Delta events. In Beta, the foot must be lifted off the ice for the back crossover as cut backs do not meet the test requirements. In Gamma, at least three strokes must precede the Mohawk combination for a total of at least seven steps. For Delta and F.S. 1, the edges must be done consecutively outside-outside and inside-inside. The lunge must be done in a straight line and completed with a one-foot glide. 5. Skaters in Freestyle are not permitted or required to perform any additional maneuvers from a higher level. 6. Please see separate sheet for explanation of the compulsory events. 7. There are certain maneuvers listed under the heading of Choice-Of-One in Delta, Freestyle 3, 6, 7, and 8. This means that only one should be performed. In the case of misinterpretation of Choice-Of-One, the performance of the first maneuver will be graded. 8. Not all uncaptured jumps and spins are legal for all levels of competition. The penalty grade for performing an uncaptured maneuver at the wrong level will be the grade of 2.0 on the judges sheets under Correctness. Check your ISI Handbook for further information. 9. The penalty for doing an illegal additional move either in Freestyle or Interpretive events will be the grade of 2.0 on the judges sheet under Correctness. 10. When competing against the book, the skater must earn 80% of the total possible points in order to place 1 st. Less than 80% will result in 2 nd Place. 11. All Dance Step Sequences in Freestyle have a mandatory pattern and should be performed according to ISI Handbook diagrams. Dance Step Sequences in Freestyle 2 & 3 may be performed in either direction. 12. Skaters will be limited to three attempts per required maneuver during their program and, as always, the best attempt will be judged. If the skater attempts the required maneuver a fourth time, it will not be judged. 13. In the Open Freestyle Events, skaters can now perform any spin at any level. The current jump limitations remain in effect for the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Questions? Call 847/
