A jump of the same kind (type & rotation), with the exception of one revolution jumps or less, can be performed no more than three (3) in the whole program. All combinations jumps must be different. If a skater performs the same combination more than once there is a penalty. There must be at least two (2) spins, one of which must be a combination. If a skater does not perform a combination spin, there is a penalty. Two spins must be separated by at least one recognized step sequence and one jump element
17 CREATIVE SOLO FREE DANCE (ALL STANDARD DIVISIONS) (2015) Skating Time: 2:30 minutes plus/minus TEN (10) seconds Set Elements that MUST be included in the solo free dance 1. Spins -No more than three (3) revolutions per spin are permitted, the total number of spins must not exceed two (2) including the set element 2. Small Jump (not more than one revolution), with total # of jumps not to exceed three (3) including the set jump. 3. One diagonal step sequence extending as near as possible to the diagonal of the skating surface. 4 One straight line step sequence commencing from a standing start along the long axis of the rink extending as near as possible the full length of the skating surface. ENTRY AND EXIT ON FLOOR FOR DANCE When a contestant is announced for compulsory dances, original dance, and free dance the entrance must be no longer than 15 seconds. The exit must also be no longer than 15 seconds. Penalty for each extra second will be 0.1 to be taken at the instruction of the Chief Referee from the B Mark after the judges have assigned their scores. Kneeling or lying on floor is allowed ONLY at the beginning/end of the performance for a max. of 5 seconds. Penalty of 3 from the B mark by ref. applies if in violation. DEDUCTIONS 1. A Mark by each judge for each element not performed three (3) 2. B Mark for each violation by each judge for program containing more than the above number of spins or jumps three (3) 3. Must be relative to the theme of the program, and in good taste. 2. Contact must be maintained at all times. 3. Props cannot be used for support during program ie: cane or umbrella can tap the floor but cannot give support or be used as a pivot for spins, but be strictly as an extra device for appearance or to support the theme. Also increase the penalty for loss of contact tossing in air, flipping from hand to hand, or dropping the item will result in a TEN point deduction from the B score.
18 Skating Time: 2:30 Minutes ±10 sec (warmup time 4:30) Original Dance Junior World Class and World Class Team (2015) One straight line step sequence, along the long axis of the rink, extending as near as possible the full length of the skating surface. During this step sequence the partners must not touch but remain no more than one arm s length apart.. NOTE: the closer the couple skate this sequence without touching, and the more difficult the steps/turns, the more credit received. One change of direction lift- one small lift must be executed with one change of direction. There must be no more than ½ revolution in the lift, only a change of direction, (either change of edge and/or forward to back, or back to forward with the lady s waist no higher than the man s shoulder. During the execution of this element it is not allowed for the lady to assume an upside down position with the legs in a split or semi-split position in front of the man s face. One diagonal step sequence - together in any dance hold. One dance spin - (one position only) in any dance/hold position, with minimum 2 and max of five (5) revolutions. Set elements not performed will result in a penalty of 0.5 (A) from the referee. Requirements: Two (2) stops are allowed not to exceed 10 seconds each stop. Pulling or pushing the partner by the boot or skate is not permitted. Partners must not separate except to change dance holds, perform brief movements, or during a permitted stop, provided that they are performed no more than two (2) arm lengths apart and no more than ten (10) seconds in duration. Originality Difficulty Variety Speed Original Dance will consist of a dance constructed in two (2) rhythms. The couple can repeat a first rhythm, but it must be the same melody and tune of the first. Music must be selected from the required rhythm for the year Latin Combination-Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba The Dance must not be a Free Dance. When a couple is announced, entrance must be no longer than 15 sec. Exit no longer than 15 sec. Penalty assessed for each in excess by referee. During the first and last ten (10) sec of OD, stationary movement is allowed in character with the rhythm. 19 Open/Jr. World Class & Sr. World Class - Set Elements Free Dance (2015) JrWC and WC Skating time: 3:30 Minutes +/- 10 seconds Open: 2:00 3:00 Minutes Technical Limitations *Separations within the free dance to execute intricate footwork are permitted. No more than five (5) may be used, with duration of no longer than five (5) seconds each. Separations at the beginning and at the end of the program are permissible, provided the distance between the partners does not exceed 6 meters (18ft) and/or ten (10) seconds. *Arabesque and pivots are permitted. No more than three (3) may be used, with duration no longer than four (4) measures of waltz music (3/4) or two (2) measures of other music *Spins are permitted, provided the number of revolutions per spin does not exceed three (3) *Dance lifts are permitted. A maximum of five (5) lifts. The number of revolutions may not exceed one and a half (1.5) with the woman s waist never held higher than the man s shoulder. Any movements in which the partner is assisted aloft and has both feet off the floor is considered a lift. A change in position in lifts is permitted. Dance jumps involving change of foot or direction are permitted. Max of five (5) can be separate or holding hands. No throw or hand lifted. Toe jumps and assisted jumps are included in the total permitted jumps. Jumps not exceeding one half a revolution may be executed by both partners at same time. The partners must be in a dance position a distance of no more than two (2) arm lengths. Only one partner may execute jumps greater magnitude with a max of one (1) revolution at one time. *Stops in which teams remain stationary on the surface while performing body movement are permitted. The duration of these stops may not exceed two (2) measures of music. *Kneeling or lying on the floor is only allowed at the beginning and/or end of the performance This may be done for a max of five (5) seconds. 22 JUNIOR PRECISION SET ELEMENTS (2015) Skating Time: Long Program - 4:00 Minutes ±10 Seconds General Rules: 1. Neither portable nor hand held props shall be used. 2. The following limitations shall be enforced: a) No jumps exceeding one-half revolution b) No spins exceeding one-half revolution c) No Lifts d) No highlighting of individual skaters e) Stationary (stopping or standing) f) Vocal music is allowed Precision Requirements: The following five (5) MUST be included in the program. Elements may be repeated without penalty. 1. CIRCLE MANEUVER MUST consist of only one (1) circle revolving in either clockwise or counter clockwise direction, or may be a combination of both directions. A minimum of two (2) revolutions is required. 2. ONE LINE MANEUVER The single line MUST be along the short axis and move down the long axis. 3. STRAIGHT LINE FOOTWORK The straight line team footwork should be performed with a minimum of two (2) lines and a maximum of 4 lines. 4. WHEEL MANEUVER This MUST consists of a three (3) or more spoke pinwheel revolving in either a clockwise or counter clockwise direction. A MINIMUM of two (2) revolutions is required. 5. INTERSECTING MANEUVER Any type of intersection is permitted (splicing or pass through). In the maneuver each skater must pass through any intersecting point only once. General Rules for Set Elements: 1. Set elements may be skated in any order. 2. A minimum of three (3) different handholds must be used. 3. All elements may incorporate forward or backward skating. 4. Footwork is permitted during any element. 5. Set elements may be repeated. 6. Additional elements may be used..
