1 21 st Annual Orange Blossom Open August 2 4, 2012 Sanctioned by United States Figure Skating Featuring: IJS, Competitive Test Track & Basic Skills Events Hosted by: The Tampa Bay Skating Club To be held at: Tampa Bay Skating Academy 255 Forest Lakes Blvd. Oldsmar, FL ENTRY DEADLINE: JULY 1, 2012 Register online only via ENTRYEEZE at Tampa Bay Skating Club

2 21 st Annual Orange Blossom Open August 2 4, 2012 The Orange Blossom Open competition is sponsored by the Tampa Bay Skating Club, approved and sanctioned by US Figure Skating. Orange Blossom Open will be using the International Judging System (IJS) for singles and pairs short and free skating programs in Juvenile and above. For all other events, the 6.0 systems will be used, which includes No Test thru Open Juvenile, Special Free Skating events, Adults, Compulsory Moves, Spins, Jumps, Dance, Test Track events and Basic Skills. ENTRIES 1. The competition is open to all qualified eligible skaters who are members in good standing with US Figure Skating and their Home Club and will be governed by the rules specified in the current US Figure Skating Rule Book for the 2012 season, this announcement, and any changes marked urgent at the 2012 US Figure Skating Governing Council meeting. Check the USFS web site for changes to well balanced programs (free skate and short programs). 2. The Orange Blossom Open is open to all skaters who are eligible (ER1.00) members of either the Basic Skills Program and/or are full members of U.S. Figure Skating. To be eligible, skaters must have submitted a membership application or be a member in good standing. Members of other organizations are eligible to compete but must be registered with the host Basic Skills Program/club or any other Basic Skills Program/club. Eligibility will be based on skill level as of the closing date of entries, July 1 st. All Snowplow Sam and Basic Skills 1-8 skaters must skate at their highest level passed or one level higher and NO official U.S. Figure Skating tests may have been passed including MIF or individual dances. It is very important to the success of the competition that skaters are placed in the correct divisions. If for whatever reason, the LOC discovers that a skater has been placed in a category below their class level, the chairman and referee will have the option to move the skater into the proper division even if this has to be done the day of the competition. This will ensure that every event is as fair as possible to the competitors. Please be sure to check for the director/instructor s signature confirming the level of the skater. If there is only one competitor entered in a Basic Skills event, the referee will give the skater the option to compete. If the competitor chooses to compete, they will be awarded their marks in the 6.0 system, and the competitor will receive first place. If they choose not to compete, the entry fee will be refunded. 3. The LOC (local organizing committee) reserves the right to limit the number of competitors in each flight and in each category, to combine or divide groups, and in the events where fewer than two competitors apply, to eliminate the category. If an event is cancelled, the entry fee, less any processing fees assessed by Entryeeze, will be refunded to your credit card. 4. The registration deadline is July 1, 2012 by online registration only. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the competition chair and will incur a one-time late fee of $50 per application. 5. Please note: Changes to entries will incur a fee of $25. Please double-check your entry prior to registering. 6. In accordance with USFS Rule 3041, Once entries have closed, entry fees are only refundable if the competition is not held. Any processing fees assessed by Entryeeze are not refundable, and the balance of the entry fee will be refunded to your credit card. FACILITY All events will be held at the Tampa Bay Skating Academy, 255 Forest Lakes Blvd., Oldsmar, FL The arena has twin ice surfaces measuring 85' x 200' each, with rounded corners and hockey barriers. The Academy has locker rooms, a snack bar, pro shop, and ample seating areas. Visit for more information about the facility. ENTRY FEES $100 First IJS Event $ 65 Additional IJS Event $ 85 First Non IJS Event $ 50 Additional Non IJS Event $ 55 No Test/Basic Skills Skate Event $ 40 Additional No Test/Basic Skills Skate Event $ 50 Late Fee/Returned Check Fee $ 25 CHANGES after entry deadline Entry Deadline: July 1, 2012 Short program and free skate are considered separate events and if both are entered, the fee would include both the First and Additional event fees. Pair skaters and Dance couples should register separately. If Compulsory Moves, Dance, Jumps, Spins and Showcase are entered solely, that will be considered a first event fee. Only one first event fee is required. If two or more events of a different category are entered, then the most expensive first event fee is the first event fee, and the less expensive event is the additional event. For example, the skater enters both Intermediate short program and Silver Solo Dance, then the first event is Intermediate short $100 and the second event is $50, for a total of $150.
