A naturalist on the transfer bus will talk about the landscape, plants and animals you ll encounter on this 90 mile trip. A picnic dinner is served around 4:00pm, and you arrive at the lodge around 8:00pm. Upon arrival at the lodge, an informal reception with fresh fruit, desserts, and beverages will be served.(d) Note: if you take the train from Anchorage to Denali, you need to arrive on Sunday. 3 Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday Activities at Camp Denali/North Face Lodge There are daily excursions led by naturalist/guides who will introduce you to the animals, plants, geology and history of the sub-arctic environment in Denali. You can hike, canoe, bike and take photographs to your heart s content. There are additional evening programs about the natural history of the region. These guided activities are included in the trip cost. You can also take a flight over the park in a small plane for an additional fee. All meals are included. (B) LODGING North Face Lodge has 15 well-appointed rooms, each with a private bath that connect to a comfortable dining room and common room via a covered walkway. Guest cabin at Camp Denali Camp Denali is a more rustic facility with 17 cabins along a ridge with commanding views of Mt. McKinley. Each has a wood stove, propane lights, and a nearby, private, immaculately maintained outhouse. Guests enjoy Camp Denali as an authentic Alaska experience in cozy, comfortable cabins. A central shower/washing facility is located a few minutes walk from the cabins. Dining Hearty meals are prepared on site, including fresh baked bread and pastries. Breakfast is served at 7:30am so you can get an early start on your nature hike, but if you prefer to sleep in awhile, continental breakfast is available between 9:30-10:30am. You pack your own lunch from a buffet set out after breakfast. Dinner is served at 6:30pm and it s hot soup or fresh salad followed by delicious entrees like herb-baked halibut or pork tenderloin in peach chutney, or a vegetarian dish if you prefer. The lodges don t have liquor licenses, but you re welcome to bring your favorite spirits. Activities Hike with the naturalist guides to remote alpine valleys and tundra-covered ridges where you can observe, and not just spot, wildlife. The guides are highly trained and practiced in interpreting biology, botany, sub-arctic ecology, geology, bird life and Alaska history. The exclusive historic operator status allows them to hike with you into the wilderness core of Denali National Park. While daily naturalist-guided activities are designed to suit all abilities, they can also help you plan independent adventures. Trail and topographic maps, self-guided interpretive booklets, canoes and bikes are available for your use. There are also walking sticks, daypacks, raingear, and fishing gear for you to borrow. 5 If quiet relaxation is your day s ambition, the living room at the lodge contains an extensive library of Alaskana. Endless subject matter awaits amateur and professional photographers, painters, and other artists. Flightseeing tours can be arranged for an additional fee. Evening programs are presented at the lodge by specialists and staff naturalists to further your appreciation of the Far North. At Camp Denali, guest lecturers are periodically hosted during the summer months as part of the Special Emphasis Series. Travel Details The trip starts and ends at the Denali Park. Options for travel to the Rail Station include motor coach from Anchorage, train from Anchorage, rental car from Anchorage, train from Fairbanks, or rental car from Fairbanks. If arriving by train from Anchorage, you need to arrive a day early and overnight at the park entrance, as the Anchorage train arrives at the park entrance after the bus departs for the drive to Camp Denali/North Face Lodge orvistravel@orvis.com 5

7 Terms & Conditions Important Information -- Please Read Carefully 1. Reservations, Deposits & Payments The deposit is 25% of the trip price. Deposits may be made by check or credit card: Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover Card. The balance of the trip cost is due 90 days before departure, except where specified differently on individual itineraries. A signed reservation form and release are required prior to departure. Deposits are not transferable from one trip to another. Prices quoted are based on foreign exchange values and tariffs currently in effect and prices are subject to change. Orvis Travel reserves the right to adjust prices accordingly until the time of departure. 2. Planning information When your reservation is confirmed, you will receive planning information to guide you through trip preparations. Details about arrival and departure, clothing and equipment, trip cancellation insurance, pre- and post- trip extensions, visas and documents and activities are included in the planning information. 3. Cancellation and Refund Policy If you must cancel your reservation, the following fees apply: days prior to trip fee +90 days $ days 80% of land cost 59 days or less 100% of land cost Cancellation fees cannot be waived for any reason, including health, business or personal emergencies, or weather. We strongly urge you to purchase trip cancellation insurance. No refunds will be made for unused portions of a trip, including late arrival or early departure. In the unlikely event that Orvis must cancel a tour, all payments received to date will be refunded, which constitutes a full settlement. Orvis is not responsible for expenses incurred in preparation of any canceled trip, including airline tickets and visas fees. 4. Cancellation Insurance Your planning information includes an application for travel insurance covering cancellation for medical reasons, trip delay, medical expenses, lost baggage and medical evacuation. We urge you to obtain this coverage. 5. Share policies Trip prices are based on double occupancy. Single rooms & cabins are limited. If you request a single room, a single supplement will apply as noted in the itinerary. We will confirm the single room as early as possible, but in some cases it may not be earlier than 30 days prior to the trip. If you request a roommate, we can usually pair you with another guest of the same gender, and no single supplement will apply. If you request a roommate, and one is not available, we will only charge you the single supplement if required by the lodge or facility used in the trip. 7. Arrival and Departure Each trip begins and ends in the foreign destination. Travel days from your home to the international destination and return are not included in the trip dates. Group transfers from a central location such as an airport are described in the itinerary, and are included in the land cost. Transfers are not included in the land cost if you arrive early or leave after the scheduled departure day. 8. Equipment & clothing You will receive a detailed list of appropriate gear with your trip planning information. Airline reservations The land cost of your trip does not include airfare. Orvis Travel trips are designed so you may join the trip at the international destination. You are free to make air travel arrangements independent of the tour or use frequent flier awards. We urge you to make your airline arrangements early. Space to many destinations is sold out in advance. Orvis Travel is not responsible for non-refundable, advance purchase airline tickets, cancellation fees or penalties of any kind. 10. Limitation of liability This section defines Orvis Travel s responsibility with regard to all travel arrangements made by Orvis Travel, including individual travel and pre- and post- trip extensions. Please read it carefully. Upon sending your deposit to Orvis Travel, you acknowledge that you have read and understand all the terms and conditions outlined here, and agree to be bound by them.
