The streams and rivers of Yellowstone National Park are a two-hour drive, with many excellent fisheries located minutes from the ranch including the Shields, Smith, Boulder, East Gallatin and Gallatin Rivers. In addition, there are many local streams with exceptional fishing such as Sixteen Mile Creek. 10 Water Rights Approximately 19 irrigated acres are appropriated by water rights from Rock Creek with the earliest claim dating back to The current irrigation method is by flooding. Areas along Rock Creek and between the main stream south of Rock Creek are additionally sub-irrigated. The Montana DNRC has final jurisdiction on the transfer of water rights. 11 Area History On July 15, 1806, Captain William Clark and his contingent camped at the mouth of a river flowing into the Yellowstone River from the north, and Clark named the river after The Corps of Discovery s Gunsmith, John Shields. Captain Clark was leading his party down the Yellowstone to reunite with Captain Meriwether Lewis at the confluence of the Missouri and Yellowstone rivers for their celebrated return to St. Louis. Clyde Park was originally known as Sunnyside. In 1887, the post office was moved to the Clyde Park Stock Ranch, where John Harvey and Thomas Tregloan imported Clydesdale horses from England. The town name was then changed to Clyde Park after the horses and the park-like setting of the valley. Climate This part of Montana enjoys a mild climate with over 185 days of sunshine. July and August are the warmest months, with high temperatures averaging in the low 80s and nighttime lows in the 50s. January is typically the coldest month with daily highs in the teens. The Clyde Park area gets light snow coverage; most of the moisture occurs in May.

12 Hunting & Recreation Incredible whitetail deer hunting is available in any direction from the house. Upland bird hunters will appreciate opportunities to chase pheasants, Hungarian partridge, sharp tailed grouse, in addition to blue and ruffed grouse on the property and on the nearby public lands. Elk, mule deer, black bear and mountain lions can be found in the nearby mountains and forest. Rock Creek Hunting and Fishing Retreat enjoys an incredibly diverse natural wildlife habitat with moose occasionally visiting the property.
