Vishnu Bhat), Director, MPEDA, Kochi (India) The maintenance and infrastructure are excellent. The officers and staff of the farm really deserve compliments for up keeping the farm in a nice manner. I wish all the best to the farm and its employees Patlikuhl This is the most beautiful part of India I have visited so far and beautiful people. Congratulations on your excellent work on the coldwater fishing, especially trout. The facilities I have visited yesterday are impressivehighlights the positive farming trend in this region. The experience could certainly be shared with the other countries in the region. Personally I look forward to working together in helping the trout farming industry in trade, production- both in the domestic and international markets. Thank you once again Patlikuhl I had a first hand knowledge of the coldwater fisheries development in Kullu-Manali areas of HP after visiting the Rainbow trout farm, the hatchery and the private firm today I was really impressed by the excellent manner in which the HP- NORAD project has been executed. I request the state government to replicate this model throughout the state wherever such ventures are feasible. The state Govt. needs to avail of financial assistance from the GOI for this purpose. My special thanks to Dr. Sharma Dir., Mr. Korla and Shri Dogra and above all Mr. Kausal, Secretary for an excellent arrangement logistics and their interest to show us (Dr. B.N. The basic knowledge regarding breeding, rearing and culture aspects were given exhaustively by Ms. Richa Gupta, the present F.O. of the farm. This is really a wonderful experience and enjoyed a lot in the farm. The farm has been maintained very beautifully and al the staffs were very cordial and helpful. A group of children is learning water sports here & availing the facilities extended by department of Fisheries I am delighted to see this. I am told that approximately 2000 families are earning their livelihood from fishing in the lake. The departmental staff is preparing the children for water sports and fishing. I feel that this department needs further strengthening. Sh. 7 production; I wish success to the institution Barot Barot Patlikuhl Great fishing and an excellent valley caught a 3lb (Pound) Brown Trout and on had a nice 21/2 lb trout in the net. Great to see that no dynamiting is taking place on this stream. Thanks to the efforts of Ms Gupta and her staff. Trout fishing has a great future in this river. Enjoyed so much the fishing here in Barot. Both the Uhl & Lambadag rivers which have much fun and plenty of fish. So also thank you to the hatchery & its management. As well as the friendly people of the valley. It is a meaningful visit to Patlikuhl Govt. Trout Farm. The maintenance & operation of the farm is a right step to enhance India s effort to produce more food with nutrition security. We came here for providing technical support for setting up a trout processing unit. I am sure with the joint effort if we (CIFT, Cochin) and Capt. H.S. It always has been great pleasure and honour for me to visit this trout farm at Patlikuhl. The outstanding work being done here by Dr. Dogra under the guidance of Dr. B.D. Sharma, Director Fisheries, HP is praiseworthy and commendable. I am very much delighted to see Arctic Char and its propagation and disposal in this country is going to be very incited and achievement for coldwater sector. Excellent management of trout farming associated with farming communities is a glaring example in the country what we can do in government sector also. My association with Mr. Sharma, Director and Mr. Dogra, Deputy Director of Fisheries, particularly DCFR is very useful and hope to carry the example to other hill states. 11 future cooperation looking into Barot The fishing in Barot is really picking up after many years. In the last two trips have got brown trout over 1 kg in the rivers. The fish farm is really doing well. It is one of the best functioning, fish farms in the country and one of the most well maintained and the best manned in Himachal. Ms. Richa Gupta is doing a commendable job Barot There are trophy size fish here nowhere to be found in India. We have a jewel in our country and it is our duty to protect the heritage. The Barot Fishery and the people of Barot deserve due recognition. We believe that no Power Plants should be allowed to flourish here.
