We believe that an excellent branch library is critical t cultural enrichment, preservatin f knwledge and cmmunity develpment in the Kingsley area. HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE December 2017 The Cmmunity Rm was decrated with snwmen n tables and walls, making a cheerful setting fr the Hliday Event. We had the largest crwd ever that enjyed crafts by Mary Ludwick and helpers Carl Inman, Jennie Lewis, Jdy Batzer, Walt Ludwick, and Kathy Flagel. Lvely sft music was prvided by Julie Westrate n the pian and Deb Quinn n the harp. Everyne enjyed the party fd and delicius variety f Hliday Ckies prepared by the Friends. As always, Santa was the biggest hit as he entertained and listened t all the children with their lists f presents fr themselves and their families. A special Thank Yu t all the KFOL members wh made this event pssible, frm decrating the tree and Cmmunity Rm, t baking ckies and clean up. We are a great crew! Again THANK YOU TO ALL ADAMS FLY FESTIVAL Kingsley Friends f the Library (KFOL) is busy planning the Seventh Annual Adams Fly Festival t be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 frm 12 t 6 PM. This event will be the big day t celebrate the Adams Fly, the mst ppular dry fly in the fly fishing wrld. In 1922, Len Halliday f Mayfield designed and created the first Adams Fly. Due t the genersity f Edna Sargent, the riginal fly s hme is currently Kingsley Branch Library. Established as a successful fund raising event fr the Kingsley Branch Library, AFF prfits will g t the Library fr prgrams that enrich ur cmmunity and t preserve the Library as a center f knwledge. Everyne is invited t cme and view Fly Fishing Demnstratins at the Brwnsn Memrial Park festival site as well as Catch and Release Fly Fishing at the Mayfield Pnd. There will be experienced fly fishermen at bth sites t give participants an pprtunity t try their hand at fly fishing. The Adams Fly Festival is a great pprtunity fr the public t learn abut wrk being dne t insure ur lcal rivers and parks are sustained in their natural beauty fr future generatins. Organizatins wh prvide stewardship and care f ur lcal rivers and parks will be represented at the Festival sharing infrmatin. Included will be Bardman River Clean Sweep, Waltn Junctin Sprtsmen s Club, Kingsley Sprtsman s Club, and the DNR.

2 Adams Fly Festival events will appeal t adults and may spark a fly fishing interest in children. The afternn includes vendr area featuring lcal artists, beer and wine tent, fd truck, and live music thrughut the day. A Silent Auctin with a variety f items frm lcal artists and businesses will have smething appealing fr everyne. The event wraps up with a Live Auctin. We have the gd frtune f having Bb Garner, f Michigan Out-Of-Drs fame, as ur auctineer this year. We hpe t see yu there as a guest f the Village f Kingsley and Kingsley Friends f the Library. The KFOL is lking fr vlunteers fr the festival. If yu are interested in participating as a vlunteer at the festival r becming a member f the KFOL, cntact the Kingsley Branch Library at MESSAGE frm MARY fr January, February, March 2018 The Adult Winter Reading prgram is a fun way t start the New Year fr ur avid adult readers. This is an easy way t win great prizes during the lng winter mnths when yu are getting mre time t read. It s a win-win prgram literally! Mary Ludwick just claimed a beautiful Bss Muse Cheese prize! This prgram runs annually, January thrugh mid-february. If yu want t participate, stp by, kbl@tadl.rg, r call and sign up! The Wigglers Strytime cntinues n Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:30 PM thrugh mid-may. This is a great way t start intrducing children t learning. It s als a perfect time fr adults t cnnect with ther adults wh are raising children. Family Theater cntinues thrugh March n the 3rd Saturday at 12:30 PM. A big screen, free mvie, free ppcrn and at yur favrite library! Fr infrmatin n what mvie is shwing, please g t: kingsley. Senir Bk Club meets mnthly n the 4 th Wednesday at 2:00 PM. We are switching it up and trying t read sme nn-fictin with sme humr. Next up fr February is Esther the Wnder Pig by Steve Jenkins and Derek Walter. Ww! Talk abut a life-changing experience, all because f a little (NOT) pig! Simply Delicius with Chef Tm cntinues mnthly n the 4 th Saturday at 10:00 AM. We are s frtunate t have such a talented chef dnate his cking talents t ur small cmmunity. If yu re a fdie, yu re ging t want t attend this prgram. March Reading Mnth will bring fun prizes and activities fr ur yung readers Grades K thrugh 4 th. Make sure yu bring in the kidds t get their reading lgs. This year the theme is Disney based, If Yu Can Dream It, Yu Can D It, and bks and reading will help make it happen! We ften add/update prgramming.
