Kau Tapen means House of Fishing in the Ona Language and here, at the heart of the Río Grande, live the best pools of the river. You ll fish most days with the wind at your back and over your shoulder for prime casting angles, while short walks and shallow wading are the norm. Single or two handed rods are both effective. Skate a bomber over a resting lie, or float a nymth next to a cut back for Sea- Run Trout you ve only see in your dreams

8 In addition to the Rio Grande, Kau Tapen guests can explore 22 miles of the Menendez River. This smaller, technical tributary is perfect for floating lines and single-hand and switch rods. Although its fish aren t any smaller! Extensive beats make it possible to find a pool where wind is a help not a hindrance Each week starts with an evening warm up session most anglers will catch a trout or two the first night they arrive A mix of the world s best guides, both local and international, merge local knowledge with world-class technique. Guides rotate each daily. A la carte menu, true five star accommodations and excellent equipment means you will be fishing in both style and comfort Many trout are caught on floating lines every season. 9 LOCATION au Tapen is located on the Rio KGrande in the Province of Tierra del Fuego. The lodge is located on the Estancia Retranca in the heart of Patagonia. Anglers fly into Buenos Aires International Airport and take a 3 hour non-stop flight to Rio Grande. The transfer from the Rio Grande Airport to the Lodge, by four wheel drive, takes 1 hour

10 THE FISHING t Kau Tapen we fish for Sea-Run ABrown Trout weighing an average of 7 lbs and ascending to 30+ lbs. We fish on 22km the Rio Grande with private access. The river offers easy wading on fine gravel boeom. Tackle: Single-handed (7-9 wts., 9-10 ft.) and two-handed rods (7-8 wts ft.). Flies: small salmon dry flies, nymphs, and traditional salmon and Sea Run Trout wet flies for the main river Lines: floating lines and sink tips or quick sink tips - depending on water conditions Fishing schedule: 8:00 am Breakfast 9:00 am Depart for fishing 1:00 pm Lunch and Siesta 4:00 pm Fish till dusk The schedule will depend on the season and can be tailored to meet the preference of our guests. Guides are equipped with nets and will assist guests in weighing and releasing fish, without harm
