1 MAPLE CITY WINGS GWRRA Michigan Chapter W ADRIAN, MICHIGAN August 2018 HELLO CHAPTER W, Well we re into the middle of August already, and heading into the end of summer. Hard to believe it s almost time to start talking about putting the bikes away. Well lets get to more fun things to talk about. Bob Kinsey lead a Safari Passbook run to Monroe for the River Raisin Battlefield site. It was a nice day for a nice ride. Monthly Gatherings Join us at our next monthly The Adrian Armory Event Center Our Monthly Gathering is held the 2nd Sunday of the 9am 8:30am for social time, coffee & doughnuts. Come and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow GWRRA Members and our Chapter W Family! Our next Gathering is Sept The Adrian Armory Event Center Gold Wing Road Riders Association Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge! We had a good group go to the State Rally this year. Unfortunately we couldn t be there, but we ve heard a lot of good things about the many things that were planned for fun. The Spam carving contest. The Miss Possum contest, some games to be played, Best costume, and to round everything off a live band. It sounds like a great time was had. Also our Chapter won 2 nd place for selling tickets for the raffle this year. We ve had a busy month sense last meeting. A group of us road to Chapter U s Hog Roast. Lead by Dick Papworth. A good time was had, and we also heard a couple of our die hard riders decided to take in one of the Safari Passbook sites before heading home. After the meeting today several of us rode down to the Safari Passbook site in Jackson. They went to Cell Block Seven. They had a nice guided tour of the Prison. Some of the group came home, and some of the group decided to ride over to Hudson, MI to see the traveling Vietnam Wall. Looks like we ve had a busy month. I guess that s a good thing. 3 August Sunshine, The District Rally was a good time with a lot of fun, mixed in with some threats of storms and some rain. Enough of you visited the Rider Ed table to bring in just over $1,000 at our tables of fun and games. Thank you to Ron and Jan Smith, and to Tyrone Scott, who helped us so much during the days at the table. Thank you to Brent Blackburn for presenting the Co-Rider Seminar and to Dave Preston from Ohio and Kathy Williams from Florida for teaching the Road Captain Seminar. Wing Ding is just around the corner, and if you are like us, it is your one one-week vacation of the year. I ll be flying in to Knoxville Tuesday night from Washington, DC after another 2 ½ weeks of working there, while Dennis will be driving in on Tuesday to attend the Rider Course Instructor meeting so that he will be prepared to teach first thing Wednesday morning. There are a lot of seminars, modules, and Rider Courses available, and a lot of fun times. Tennessee is a beautiful state with lots to do. Find a group of friends that are willing to go for a ride, to sit in the air conditioning for an hour and a half and learn something new.
