26 Habitat work and river flies WTT advisory visits promote the Riverfly Partnership and encourage participation. Recommend measures that help river flies, e.g. large woody debris, riparian zone mgmt, flow/substrate diversity. Good example of this on the River Manifold (Staffs) trib of Dove. Upland character, gritstone geology, problems with bank erosion, intensified livestock farming. Good monitoring of improvement measures fish and invertebrates.

The Wild Trout Trust We have reached the time in the life of the planet, and humanity s demands upon it, when every fisherman will have to be a riverkeeper, a steward, a watchman. We are beyond having to put back what we have taken out. We must put back more than we have taken out. Tom McGuane - The Longest Silence (1999)
