2 Mackie Academy FP Rugby Football Club Mackie Academy Rugby Club has been providing the sport of rugby to the children and adults of Stonehaven and surrounding communities for over 35 years and has grown from small roots in to a club offering First XV and Second XV rugby along with senior, Youth and Junior teams. The junior section is the largest junior section in the North East of Scotland. We hold weekly training sessions for children as young as 6 years old (Primary 2) through to seniors the oldest being 63 years young. The junior section host regular rugby festivals through-out the season for both local and travelling clubs. The annual Mackie Mini s Tournament is famed for being the largest in the North East of Scotland welcoming over 700 children from 12 clubs. The past two years have seen clubs travel from Ireland to compete in the event. Our coaches are all volunteers who give up their time to provide training sessions and take the teams to games all over Scotland. All coaches have the SRU minimum certification which is Rugby Ready. Many of the coaches also have certification in UKCC level 1 and some above. The club also assists many of the Youth players to gain certification so that they can also help coach the micro and mini level junior squads. Our aim is to help every coach or assistant coach /helper in delivering rugby training within a safe and professional environment. Our Youth section continues to grow and compete strongly in the North East and has over the seasons produced players for the Pathway and Hurricane programmes and currently has four of our former players playing for Scotland at Under 17 Under 21 s men s and in the Under 16 and Under 18 Ladies Squads.

3 The current senior squad boasts membership of over 60 players. The 1 st XV play in the SRU Caledonian Division 1 and after finishing 4 th this year after a progressive year, will be pushing for promotion to Premiership 3 in the 2012/2013 season. The 2 nd XV finished the season on a high by winning the Referees Society Plate Trophy, a fitting end to a season where they have beaten Gordonians 2 nd XV, Ellon 2 nd XV and many others. Along with the First and Second XV squads we have now developed a senior s team called the Mammoths Middle Aged Men Mainly Over The Hill. This team of coaches and ex-players regularly compete in festivals and bring a new dimension to the club. All of the above totalling over 460 playing members is under-pinned by our Development Officer James Sadio who himself is a former member of the Junior and Youth sections and is currently in our 1 st XV squad. Although his main role is with schools in our catchment area James also works with some schools within Aberdeen city and takes the name of Mackie Academy Former Pupils Rugby Football Club to those not so close to our home in Stonehaven. As you will appreciate from the above it takes a large monetary expenditure to keep things moving forward and growing. Over 600 children and 1000 adults attend the event in Stonehaven, which is now recognised as the biggest children s rugby festival in Scotland. 20 teams from across the North East and Midland region along with teams from Ireland compete in the tournament..it could be for the annual Mackie s Shield.. 8 1000 Coaches Jacket Sponsorship Every Coach in the club will be supplied with a new Canterbury Coaches jacket with Coach printed across the shoulders and the Mackie logo on the left breast. Up to 50 coaches in your company logo every weekend around the North East also wearing them for leisure wear. With the 1 st XV entering the Caledonian 1 League, they will be mixing it with the best teams from the north of Scotland and will result in increased media visibility. For your 150 you will receive Named player sponsor on the profile of Website increased visibility when he scores or is Man of the Match.
