4 4 Judith Coe Sports Co-ordinator At Waiuku College we are very proud of a long reputation of many talented sporting students, many of them have gone on to represent our country. Representing Waiuku College in sport offers students the opportunity to enhance their experience at the college by building lifelong friendships, developing leadership skills and experiencing education outside the classroom. At Waiuku we play hard, seek to win and do so with sportsmanship and fair play. If we lose we do so with grace and dignity while reflecting on what needs to be done to win next time. For those on the side-lines we support positively and with encouragement. We aim to offer all students the opportunity to experience and represent Waiuku College in a wide range of sports whether at the highest competitive level or at a beginner level. This guide outlines sporting opportunities that are available to all our students as well as expectations of participants, selection policies and ways in which all parents/caregivers can also get involved in sport. I have been at Waiuku College for six years, and lived my whole life in Waiuku, and with my family have had a long association with many sporting teams around the Counties Manukau District. My aim at Waiuku College is to nature and promote sport in many different codes to all our students. Regards Judith Coe Sports Co-ordinator.
5 5 CODE OF CONDUCT All students representing Waiuku College are expected to abide by the rules and regulations within the sports and the school rules. 1. Students are expected to give total commitment to the sport or code they have selected to play. 2. Students are required to attend all trainings, games, competitions and pay all fees and uniform costs where applicable. If unable to attend they must notify their coach or manager in advance of the practise or the game. 3. Students must commit to their selected sport for the entire season. 4. Students must treat all opponents with respect and courtesy. 5. Students must respect all officials, coaches, managers and their decisions without gestures or argument. 6. Students will show that it is a privilege and honour to represent Waiuku College. 7. Students will win the humility, lose with dignity and exercise self-control at all times. 8. Students should play hard- but play fair. 9. Students must wear the correct Waiuku College sporting uniform during the game. Students will all be expected to sign a code of conduct form when they register to their chosen sport.

All parts of the registration form must be completed and signed by the student and parent/caregiver. It is important that all contact details including emergency contact details and medical details are accurate and kept up to date. Any changes to these must be put into writing and sent to the sports office or ed to: ce@waiuku-college.school.nz
7 7 COACHING AND MANAGEMENT Waiuku College values support from the wider community, parents/caregivers and former students. Without this ongoing support sport at the College would not be as successful as it is. For sport to run effectively, each team that steps onto the sporting arena needs to be supported by a coach and where possible a team manager. The sports office aims to support all volunteers by ensuring that they have the equipment they need, training facilities, first aid and all details of their team and ongoing updated draws. At Waiuku College we are very fortunate to have three school vans that are able to be used for away sporting events. This is worked on a roster system as we have many teams and other areas of the school using these vans; the teams travelling the furthest away will be given first consideration. If you are interested in supporting Waiuku College through coaching, managing or helping with transport please contact Judith Coe at the sports office.
