7 Ceremonies Opening Ceremony/Caregiver Lap (10:00am) At the start of the event and the start of the day, all teams gather together to get energized and inspired for the exciting and memorable hours ahead. After various speeches and introductions to the agenda for the weekend, the MRelay community honors the strength of cancer survivors and their caretakers. The survivor's walk as they meet their caretakers starts the event with an overwhelming motivation on how cancer has affected people in our Michigan community and the importance of this event. Be Purple Ceremony (5:00pm) winners announced BE PURPLE winners Best Campsite, Best Costume Photo Contest Winner Luminaria (9:30pm) As the sun goes down, it is important to take a time to reflect on the personal connections that inspires everyone to relay. In contrast to the energetic spirit during the daytime activities, the Luminaria ceremony brings a deeper unity amongst teams through personal sharings by students and community members. To bring light to the darkness of the night and cancer, luminaria bags are lit with glowsticks around the track, honoring, supporting, or remembering the individuals who have be touched by cancer. Midnight Ceremony (12:00am) Just like the fight against cancer, MRelay strives to continue the passion and hope for a cure throughout the event. At midnight, we create a time to reflect on why even when one is exhausted and drained there is still hope to continue fighting. As we share the reasons why we stay the night, we show support for those that have larger battles to fight than our own temporary fatigue. Closing Ceremony (9:30am) In the conclusion of the 24 hour long relay, teams again return to the stage to celebrate the unveiling of the total fundraising of the event. Despite the fatigue in the race against cancer, the last hours of the event are filled with excitement and motivation to continue the fight long after the final laps are complete. Highest Fundraising Individual (1 3), Highest Fundraising Team (1 3) Best Onsite Fundraiser Stay The Night Award The team who had the most people stay the night
8 Activities Photo-contest (Winner announced at Be Purple Ceremony at 5:00pm!) Gather your friends or go solo to see who can take the best Dr. Seuss photo! Winner(s) will receive a cool prize! Yoga (11:00am) Come relax and enjoy some yoga by the stage! It s a good way to start the day off right. Dr. Seuss Rhyming/Rap battle (11:30am) Got what it takes to spit a few bars? Come on stage for a fun rap battle (does not have to be Dr. Seuss related, and no swearing...this is a family-friendly event!) Basketball Tournament (1:00pm) Sign up for the basketball tournament and compete for ultimate bragging rights! Concert (2:00pm) Join us by the stage to see all of your favorite student group performers! Zumba (4:00pm) Ready to get pumped up? Get down by the stage with some fun dancing. Or is it exercise? Thing 1 and Thing 2 three-legged race (7:00pm) Do you think you and your best friend make the best Thing 1-Thing 2 pair? Enter the three-legged race to find out! Glow-Stick Flag Football (11:30pm) Flag football just got a little more fun. Stick around to play a classic game of flag football...but in the dark!
