The purpose of this meeting is electing new board members, reviewing and voting on club policy. All club members are encouraged to attend. The Lincoln Bowmen Board of Directors will put forth an advance ballot of those running for board positions and proposed by-law updates on the day of the General Membership meeting Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11AM. The election will remain open until the close of the General Membership meeting. Any Class A or General member that has been a member in good standing for the past 12 months may vote. Membership must be verified prior to casting a ballot. See the BOD article on page 2 for a list of candidates. If you have questions regarding the by-law updates or the ballot, you can bring them up during the General Membership meeting. Club directors will make themselves available throughout the day of the meeting at the club to help answer questions. Proposed changes to the Lincoln Bowmen By-Laws require approval by the general membership. For 2014, a change has been proposed to correctly reflect the yearly financial analysis as a financial review. Changes are required in Article VI, Section 3, Duties of Officers, Item (d) Treasurer, to implement the correction. A document detailing the applicable changes as they currently read and the proposed change will be available the day of the meeting. Poker Fund Raiser HELP NEEDED! Help is needed to work the last poker room fund raiser for It is a great way to get work hours, eliminate membership rate increases and enhance our club. Lincoln Bowmen needs your support to be successful! Please check your calendar and contact Scott Rhind (ScottyRhind@gmail.com) to lend a hand! Thanks to the July event workers we raised $3,601. Work entails selling / buying back chips, and logging them into the computer. That s it! The operator handles all gaming activities The work schedule for the August event is below. 2 BOD Candidates and Terms Lincoln Bowmen BOD members are elected for a 2 year terms. Eight (8) members are elected in even number years, seven (7) in odd number years. The chart shows BOD members whose term ends in September, 2014 that are seeking re-election and those that have one more year on their current term. After several years of service to the members of Lincoln Bowmen, Mike Burgor and Dave Hallenbeck are stepping down from the Board of Directors. Dave is the current advertisement chairperson and Mike works almost every Saturday with the work parties. Both Dave and Mike have worked on various projects over the years. Thank You Dave and Mike for all that you have done for Lincoln Bowmen! Kent ran the league again this year and my thanks goes to him for another job well done. The league ends August 21st and the banquet will be held on Saturday the 23rd starting at 6PM. If you plan on bringing a guest, please sign the sheet posted by the score card drop box. Shooting During Work Parties - Some questions have been asked pertaining to shooting during the Saturday morning work parties. There is restricted shooting during this time. The normal procedure is that if work is being performed anywhere on the grounds or in the club house, shooting is not allowed. If you come down to shoot during this time and notice that work is not being performed on any course or range you can shoot, but you still need to ask one of the directors for clearance before shooting. Shooting is usually allowed after 11AM, but again, check with the work party crew first before shooting. Broad head Pit - October 1st is right around the corner and the broad head pit usually sees a big increase in use. At this time the pit is being improved. Jim McGinnis has been making a lot of changes to the range for improved shooting and safety. Shooting is allowed during this work, but again, if there is work being performed, the pit is closed. Also, I usually send out a yearly reminder at this time of the year pertaining to shooting broad heads. The area on the west side of the building is known as the broad head pit is the only area that broad head use is allowed on club property. There are safety rules posted on the shooting platform, please read them before shooting General Membership Meeting - September 6th is the general membership meeting will be held. At this meeting the Board of Directors are elected by the membership. I have been informed that a few present directors will not be running this year. If you are interested in running for a position on the board, contact me or another board member. Club Improvements - The club house has recently had a fresh coat of paint applied to it and it looks great.. To all of those members that came out and helped with this project thank you! You did a great job! A special thank you goes to Larry Hassell for heading up the work parties for this project. If you are shooting outside in the near future take time to check out the new target backstop inside the club house. 3 Messages from the Board of Directors Jim McGinnis All the stakes on the front and back courses have been changed to PVC pipe. Open Classes are Blue Stripe - 50 yards and under. Hunter Classes are Green Stripe - 40 yards and under. Traditional are Orange Stripe - 30 yards and under. Youth are White - 15 yards and under. The broad head pit is coming along. We have gotten through the hill and we are starting to clean it up and backfill. There will be 20 yard, 30 yard and 40 yard sand pits to shoot cardboard targets. When completed you will only be able to shoot from the tree stand and directly underneath the tree stand. This is for safety. I hope you got a chance to shoot the Tough Man Shoot. The people I shot with all had fun. I would like to Thank some of the Membership who helped set the course up: Bill, Bob, Lee, Marv, John, Brian and Scott..I am looking forward to setting up next years course. Promote the Archery Life Style - Jim McGinnis. Dave Lance Twelve of the indoor targets (3-14) were recently rebuilt and replaced with Spyder Web Anti-Kick target systems. For longevity and maintenance of the targets, paper targets should be hung on the top or bottom half of bales only, as shown in the photo. DO NOT hang targets in the middle of the bales, or shoot for hours in the same spot, creating soft spots. Please rotate your targets after every game. Moving your target an inch either way, makes a big difference in maintaining the targets. NO BROAD HEADS ARE ALLOWED. 4 August Recipe - Jim s Venison Nuggets Jim s Venison Nuggets Ingredients 1C Flour 1C Milk 1C Bread Crumbs (I like Progresso Italian) Eggs (whisked like for scrambled eggs) Venison Pam Non-Stick spray Butter Cast Iron Skillet Cube the venison, pound it flat. Dip the venison in the milk, flour on both sides. Dip the floured venison in the eggs, then bread with bread crumbs. Spray a cast iron skillet with Pam, add butter and heat. Cook the, nuggets for 1 1/2 minutes per side. Increase milk, flour, eggs, & bread crumbs, as needed. I like this recipe when I m trimming the fat & silver skin and I have small piece left over that are almost too small to use except for ground. Want to share a favorite recipe?
