Issue: 458 Date: Friday 13th November 2015 Parking It s been 3 weeks now since parking outside the school has been mentioned but unfortunately it has reared its ugly head again. I know the majority of people visiting school park and drive in a very courteous manner, so thank you to those people. Can I remind people parking outside of school that there is a clearly marked no parking zone directly outside the school gate which is to enable disabled and emergency access. The bright yellow zigzag lines with the writing SCHOOL NO PARKING indicate this. I am also aware of some extremely dangerous driving involving cars using the pavement to pass each other. I have taken the step of contacting the local police and hope that a few visits from them will show the seriousness of the problem. Girls Football Tournament The girls travelled to Carre s for a football tournament this week. They played Kirby and won 1-0 with an own goal! They then played Metheringham and won 1-0 with a lovely goal scored by Kate. They then lost 2-0 against St Botolphs who had a very strong team. Evie scored our winning goal against William Alvey and won 1-0. Unfortunately in the final we lost 2-0 to Cranwell. All girls showed great sportsmanship and left with huge smiles on their faces. They really did us proud! Non-Uniform Day Thank you for your donations this week for the Christmas fayre and Children in Need. They are both worthy causes in their own right and hopefully our small effort goes a long way in supporting both causes. Netball Match We have our first netball match of the season on Tuesday at home to William Alvey School. Good luck to all those involved. Clubs cancellation Due to staff training on Wednesday next week all clubs are having to be cancelled and as it is the Book Fair tea party next Thursday, there will be no netball or drama clubs. Sorry for any inconvenience. September 2016 admissions Information packs will be available from the school office from November 16 th. Closing date for online applications is January 15 th School Football Team The school team have been very busy this week. Firstly they travelled to Osbournby which saw an emphatic 9-3 victory to put them top of the league. Then on Thursday afternoon they took part in the Carre s football tournament and played some exceptionally good football. They cruised through to the final winning every game and not even conceding a goal. In the final they played Caythorpe and unfortunately lost 2-0. They were extremely disappointed not to lift

the trophy (which I thought they deserved for playing the best football) but they can be extremely proud of their achievement in coming second out of 16 schools. Smile!!! The school photographer will be in school on Friday 20 th November to take individual and family photos. Those children that are involved in Forest Schools will need to make sure they come to school in full uniform and bring their Forest Schools clothes with them. Year 6 parents A closed facebook group has been created named 'Rauceby Year 6 Leavers' 2016'. Please join and we can communicate ideas and thoughts regarding this special day for our children. For those of you not on Facebook please get in touch with me via my sarah@loveandlacebridal.co.uk. Look forward to hearing from you all soon. Sarah Henderson Jump Rope for Heart event We are delighted to learn that our group has won 50 worth of skipping ropes as a result of being one of the winners from the recent prize draw held of groups and young people s groups that had completed an evaluation form for the popular Jump Rope for Heart event last group year. Next match: Monday 16 th November at 3.30pm vs Claypole (H) Book fair tea party Please help us raise funds for our new school library by attending our tea party on Tuesday after school. You will be able to enjoy a cup of tea and a cake (served lovingly by our staff and pupils from the Book Club) and get the opportunity to purchase the latest books at discount prices. Rauceby school will make a percentage from the book sales and along with the money raised from the refreshments, will hopefully be able to extend our lending library to interest more pupils across the school. If you are able to provide some cakes / biscuits on the day, we would be very grateful. Admissions policy The Admissions policy for the 2017 intake is now available to view on the school website. If anyone has any comments please them to enquiries@rauceby.lincs.sch.uk Blue badge recipients Congratulations to this week s blue badge recipients: Reception Anais and Chloe, Year 1 Austin, Jessica, Milo and Matilda, Year 2 Charlie, Francesca and Harry B, Year 3 Aaron and Christian, Year 4 Emilie, Fathima and Lois, Year 5 - Christopher and Edward and Year 6 Whole class.

Year 6 trip to Duxford On Monday Year 6 went to the Duxford Imperial War Museum. They had land, sea and air warfare vehicles from World War 1 to the present day. In the main hanger they had a large variety of planes including the Lancaster Bomber, the Concorde, a Supermarine Spitfire and a Harrier Jet. While Year 6 were in the main hanger they were able to go in the Concorde and see one of the jet engines for the Concorde. We were also extremely lucky to see the Vulcan from the Falklands War! In another hanger we were able to hold an American Tommy gun and a British Thompson. By Matthew and Fred Year 6 Year 2 and Year 3 trip to Mosque, Mandir and Peterborough Cathedral Year 2 and 3 had a fantastic trip to Peterborough on Wednesday visiting a range of places of worship.

Remembrance Service Well done to Year 6 this week who led our school remembrance service. I have heard it was an extremely moving service. Well done to all involved. A special mention must go to Jasmine Bish for her playing of The Last Post on the trumpet. For the Fallen Re written by Year 6 By giving thanks to a mother s children, England is sad for its soldiers who died in the war. People of her land were the soul of her country, Dying for the freedom of their people. The drums played; Death inspiring and royal Sings sadly up into deathless areas, There is sound in the middle of destruction And a success that shines upon emotions. The young soldiers went singing to the war, Marching straight, looking up, steady and happy. The men were loyal from beginning to end, despite many odds; They fell before the enemy. A two minute silence was held at the Cathedral. They will stay young, as we will grow old: Age will not tire them, and the years will not criticise them. From morning to evening, We will remember them.

They will not have fun with their friends; They will never sit again at the dinner table at home; They have no work in the day; They rest beyond England's seas. But our wants and hopes are thoughtful, We feel them even though we do not see them, To the feeling heart of their country, we know them. As stars will be remembered at night; As the stars remain bright when we have died, Moving in a march to a delightful heaven; As the stars stay starry at night, To the end, to the end, they remain.
