3 Under 9 Blue Round 6 saw U9 Blue travel the short distance to play Modbury Gold at Greenwith Oval. A slightly later start to the game allowed all involved to have a small sleep in and not have the normal rush of our usual earlier start times. We were again blessed with strong numbers with only Patrick unavailable, Brandon was our captain for the day. The boys again displayed good intensity and enthusiasm for the warm up. Although, it was a cool start to the morning, conditions were almost perfect as the game was about to commence. The first quarter commenced with some good footy being played by both teams. In the middle, Lochy and Brady were both involved early and Jayden seemed to move into the game as the quarter went on with a number of strong tackles to win possession. One highlight was a great team tackle from Jayden and Lochy. In the forward lines, Ryan started well and seemed to be everywhere the ball bounced and Jackson was ensuring the ball stayed in the area with a number of solid tackles. Down the other end of the oval, Sam started well and was able to move the ball with a number of long kicks, whilst Jamison took a good mark and was able to kick the ball forward. The siren sounded to end the quarter. After a quick break and some words of encouragement the boys were back in their positions and ready to go. After a rest in the first quarter, Harry started with plenty of run and was completed a great tap to Jayden early in the quarter. Lochy continued to be busy whilst Jacob was involved in several plays. Modbury s early tackling pressure prevented us from being able to move the ball like we wanted, however it was great to see that a number of the boys had taken what we practised at training and held the ball tight when tackled. In the forward lines, Ryan was able to pounce and kick a great team goal whilst Louis and Brandon ensured that Modbury weren t able to move the ball with some great pressure. Down the other end of the oval, the boys didn t see too much of the ball and were able to move up the ground a little, Kadin and Blake were active whilst there was a display of team work from Jackson allowing Cameron space to run and kick very pleasing to see moments like this as it shows that the boys are really starting to bond, and it is one of the things that we have been practicing at training. The siren sounded to bring the first half to an end, the boys came together for a quick drink and recharge for the next half. After the half time break, the boys seemed tuned in and ready to go. The quarter commenced well with a good tap from Jamison to Sam who was able to move the ball with another long kick. Another highlight from the midfield was a strong tackle from Cameron. In the forward lines a great highlight was solid team tackle from Jayden and Lochy which prevented Modbury from being able to run the ball out, whilst Brady was able to kick a great goal after Jayden was able to move the ball with a nice kick. In defence, the boys played some very good footy with Louis and Jayden ensuring the Modbury forwards didn t get any easy possessions. Late in the quarter Sam was able to win a free kick after a great tackle and kick a team lifting goal. The siren sounded to conclude the third quarter with final rotations completed, the boys were ready to complete the game. The three quarter time break provided an opportunity to highlight a few positives from the last quarter and make the required rotations. The quarter commenced and Modbury seemed to be running and attacking the ball more than us, this meant the boys in the middle and in particular defence were kept very busy from the very start. As the quarter went on Modbury kept running and were moving the ball well. A couple of highlights from the middle was some great intensity and pressure from Cameron and Kadin. In the forward lines the boys played well with limited opportunities. As the final siren sounded, we congratulated the other team for a great game and sang the club song extra loud. Today we again played some very good team footy against a very strong team. The last quarter highlighted what can happen when we don t stick to our team rules and give opposition players too much space. Lastly, I would again like thank all that assisted with the game. This weekend we have the long weekend off and will return to play local rivals Tea Tree Gully at Pertaringa Oval. GO BURRAS!

4 Under 10 Blue This week our Under 10 Blue team played at home against Salisbury North. It turned out to be a nice and sunny day which made for a nice and welcome change. Today was an extra special game that saw us all celebrate a milestone 50th game for Liam Hewitt and no one was more excited than Liam himself. Congratulations and Well Done Liam!!! Naturally on such an occasion, Liam was also our captain for the game and even managed to kick a goal today, what a day. The game started off pretty even and this was reflected by the scorecard at the quarter time break, only one goal had been scored and happily it was kicked by Golden Grove. The second quarter started off like the first but you could feel the intensity increasing as players from both teams started to attack the footy harder. With half time came a well deserved break for the players yet the margin was still less than one goal separating the teams. During the second half came a lot more intensity and emotion to the game, both on and off the field. In what has become a bit of a theme for this team, the third quarter seems to be when they boys really wake up and get the job done! It must be something to do with the oranges perhaps? Golden grove managed to kick a couple of goals in the third quarter and win back the lead of the game. Even more impressive was that they again managed to keep the opposition to no score. A couple more goals to just one (very late) goal from Salisbury North saw U10 Blue extend their lead and finish with a win. Our goal scorers today were Liam Hewitt, Dallas Riches, Ethan Wadsworth, Lucas Bagnato, and Jordan Tyler. Of course, these goals mostly come from the great effort of the team so well done to all the boys today in a really exciting match. Many thanks to all the helpers on the day and to all the parents, friends, and family who come out to support and cheer our Burras. Look forward to our next game. Great day for our team in many ways today. Perfect weather and a great win to celebrate Jacko's 100 games for the club. More than the win is the great bond and friendships our boys have for each other and it was great to see them share the footy around today and then be rewarded by getting to celebrate by singing the song together after. Well done to the boys on a great win! Also a massive thank you to everyone helping out in the canteen today, great to see everyone turn up and it went smoothly by all accounts. Also a big thank you to the U12 top up players and to all the parent volunteer helpers on game days, much appreciated! GGFC U13 White def Eastern Park 4.2 Goals: Zane Walsh 3, Reilly Close 2, Jordan Pitt 2, Kalan Weaving 2, Luke Ouston, Flynn Price, Jack Seymour, Marcus Reaby, Xander Mossop Best: All played fantastic!
