SECRETARY S REPORT Senior Football 2014 saw the club appoint Ollie McDonnell as manager for the playing season with Enda McKeown & Barney Campbell as selectors. Sheelan Cup This traditional warm up competition, between senior and intermediate teams, made up of groups of five teams where we won three and lost two and lost in the shield, as follows: 06/04/14 Geraldines /03/14 Clan na Gael /03/14 Newtown Blues /03/14 Glyde Rangers /03/14 Mattock Rangers /02/14 Kilkerley Emmets Division Two League In the main league we won eight out of ten games and disgracefully in their wisdom the county board fixed us to play the 11 th game 60 hours after our championship exit. We have a motion pending to the incoming County Committee to amend the fixing of games within 96 hours 4 days) of last playing. Unfortunately after only dropping four points we were piped at the post by St Fechins who only lost once. 16/11/14 Oliver Plunketts /08/14 St Fechins /08/14 St Brides /07/14 St Mochtas /06/14 St Marys /05/14 Glyde Rangers /05/14 Roche Emmets /04/14 Dundalk Young Irelands /04/14 Na Piarsaigh /04/14 Hunterstown Rovers

INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP The 2014 championship groupings saw us pitted against Na Piarsaigh and St Fechin s in the group stages. One win and one defeat saw play Hunterstown in the Quarter Finals and after a facile win we were pitted against the Sean O Mahony s in the semi-final. After three epic encounters and for the third year in succession it wasn t to be. 02/10/14 Sean O Mahonys /09/14 Sean O Mahonys /09/14 Sean O Mahonys /08/14 Hunterstown Rovers /07/14 St Fechins /07/14 Na Piarsaigh Conclusion: A season that looked like us winning the double entered in heartache but we can take some comfort in seen Sean O Mahony s go on to conquer Leinster and anytime any of their mentors or players are interviewed they keep referring back to our epic three games which brought them on. That could have been us. Also to come so close to the eventual league winners St Fechin s spoke volumes of our consistency throughout a very long year which began with training in Mid- December until our final game on 30 th November. A crazy fixtures schedule for the county board to treat club players and it was no wonder we looked burnt out in second half of our final game. I would like to applaud all the players and the management team for their commitment throughout this long year and it was no reflection on the effort of either as no stone was left unturned that we did not get our rewards and hopefully in 2015 we will be successful. Finally I and I m sure I speak for all in wishing Ollie all the best with his appointment as a Louth selector and we hope to see him again involved in our team affairs in the future. Also I m happy to report that Enda and Barney will continue to work with the team as their knowledge and experience of football is second to none. The outgoing committee have also sanctioned the appointment of a coach Jody Clarke for 2015 and we are delighted to secure his services as he is one of the top young coaches in Ulster football and I m sure he will make a massive contribution to our strive to get back to senior football.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL In the junior league we won five out of ten games and unfortunately finished fifth and didn t make the playoffs. 12/08/14 Clan na Gael /07/14 Cooley Kickhams /06/14 Dreadnots /06/14 St Brides /06/14 Naomh Mairtin /05/14 Clan na Gael /05/14 Dundalk Gaels /04/14 St Patricks /04/14 St Marys /04/14 Newtown Blues In the Championship after a good win in the first round we lost to a very strong St Marys team in the semi-final and it was no surprise that they went on win the final easily. 02/09/14 St Marys /08/14 Naomh Mairtin Thanks to management team of Jason Hoey, Conor Murtagh & Sean McDonnell and all the players involved and for their co-operation with the first team management. Under Age & Og Sport AGM will be held in January 2015.

Off Field Review Financial matters will be dealt with in the Treasurer s report. Conclusion A particularly positive year in many respects, we continue to show major signs of improvement on the football field, the community centre continues to be a great resource for many. Many of our functions & outings are good fun events. On a sad note there of the committee lost their mums during the year, Sinead, Kevin and myself RIP as it s due to previous generations that we have inherited our love of gaelic games. On a brighter note three of our players Tomas, Peter and Gary got married as did one of our committee members Ged and we wish them and their new wives all the best for the future. 10 TREASURER S REPORT The past Financial year has been challenging to say the least to service our ongoing Mortgage/Credit Union loans. The main revenue from the figures below came from the following: The lotto is the main source of income and even though the recent jackpot of 16,800 has been won it s vital that we get sales back up to the level at that time. Thanks to all our lotto sellers. The income of the bar has declined again and the bar committee would be grateful of any support from all during the coming year. They intend to complete the kitchen facilities which will cut down on catering costs. The community centre again made a vital contribution to the finances of the club. Fundraisng was on a par with previous year with some enjoyable days especially the Nicko Cycle and I hope to see that continue in The other main fundraisers were our annual flag day and it was heartening to see so many club members out collecting especially as it was on the day of the Quarter Final of the chamionship. Also the National Draw was a success and as two more weeks till this year s closing I would encourage you to sell some more as all proceeds from each 10 goes to the club. The expenditure figures were on a par with the previous year with the exception of the following: Repairs and Maintenance was up mainly due to getting the boiler repaired and work carried out on the field plus having FAS/TUS workers on board. The purchase of a tractor during the year.

Chairman s report 2014 Introductory Address. On behalf of Naomh Seosamh CLG, I would like to welcome everyone to our AGM for 2014 and thank you all for making the effort to attend and more importantly, along with those who are unable to attend, to thank everyone for their contributions during the year, in whatever way or role that might have been. And if there are any new people present they are especially welcome as we need all the help we can get in the varied activities of this great club. While we may not have reached the highs we expected in 2014, it has been a very eventful year on all fronts within the club and we should all feel very proud of the contributions we have made to the communities of Darver and Dromiskin throughout the year. That been said there is still lots of achievements for us to look forward to in 2015 and we start out on this journey tonight by reviewing our activities in 2014 and putting in place a committee that will be tasked with the job of realising our ambitions on all fronts, but as always our main focus will be on the success of our Gaelic football Teams of all ages and Grades. Chairman s Report I would like to start my report by paying tribute to our Ex Secretary John Fox, who had to withdraw from his position earlier in the Year, due mainly to a nasty accident which left him incapacitated for some time. John s contribution to the Club over the last number of years as secretary has been immense and that is not to mention his even more immense (so he says) contribution as a player. Over the years of his reign as Secretary, this Cub has greatly benefited as a result of his incredible, Imagination, Innovation and Focus and while he has in no way gone away from the club, it is appropriate to recognise his contribution now that he has left the Secretary s chair. So Thank you very much John and I hope we will still see you around and involved in some of our Activities in 2015 I would like to move on to briefly thank all our committees, Officers and members of the Club Field and Buildings -- Many challenges with little finance available, great work by our Fas and Tus Workers and a lot of voluntary work when needed. Our Pitch has long been acknowledged as one of the best in the county, but whether it is due to changing weather patterns, bringing more rain or whether it is due to an inherent drainage problem, we are having an unacceptable number of Non Playable days due to waterlogging and it has to be one of the main focuses of the club in 2015 to correct this issue. That been said, great credit to Simon and his fellow field committee members for keeping the pitch looking so well Tom has also done a good piece of work in (I hope) finally sorting out our Water heating issues. Eamonn for organising the tarmac at the entrance.

Community Centre When reading the Financial report in relation to the contribution from Community Centre, I was reminded of a famous statement by Winston Churchill about the battle of Britain Never was so much owed by so many to so few This is certainly the case in relation to the Community Centre Committee and it is obvious that this committee headed up by Aine and ably assisted by Jacqui, is carrying out Trojan work and providing an excellent facility to the complete community and further afield and also contributing in a very substantial way to the finances of the club. Incoming Committee needs to give much more support to this committee to help share the Burden that must come with the increased activity. Bar Committee Thank bar committee for managing these fine premises in a very challenging environment. It is a tough business in these tough times, but the bar continues to be a substantial contributor to the clubs finances as well as giving us a focal point for the social activities of the club. There will be challenges in 2015, but I have no doubt that our Bar committee and in particular our bar management team will be up to it. The bar has also been host to the regular Wednesday coffee morning and I would like to pay tribute to this group who do a great job of facilitating a group of people in our community who just want to meet up and have a good old chat and in doing so have also contributed to both our club and other deserving causes in the community Thank you. Finance When viewing the superbly prepared financial report for 2014 and when it is placed alongside the reports of 2012 and 2013 I think we can be proud that we have steadied the ship which was an objective over the tough times of the recent Recession. The principals over these years has been to kept a tight control on the Income and Expenditure accounts of the club, by reducing expenditure where possible and basing our fundraising activities on a strong Lotto, supported by smaller scale fundraising events, that gave some real value to those generous enough to contribute and to try to build the spirit of community that should be the essence of every GAA club. To a great extent this has worked, but the price we have paid for this policy, is that there has been very little major capital available for investment back into the club, except from some projects that have been generously supported by Sponsors. In 2015 I think we need to start looking again at investing in projects that will improve or add to our Facilities or at least arrest some of the deterioration that is taking place and this will no doubt require a more intensive fund raising strategy, while still looking after our current Liabilities. The 7 events this year:- o Bring and Buy in conjunction with Temple St hospital. o Michael Morgan memorial Quiz night -- Another great night in aid of players injury fund and in memory of a truly great club man in Michael. Our thanks go to his family for sponsoring this event. o Joes Hit the Hills The 3 rd year of this event which was a great day, but numbers have reduced

o Nicko Cycle: - A Great day spent in the tyretracks of our greatest fundraiser. Which culminated in the unveiling of a commissioned portrait of the man himself, which now proudly hangs in our Function room. An event to be repeated. o BBQ: - Another great day where the whole community came and enjoyed all the fun of the fair and an occasion that is starting to become one that is much looked forward to by the whole community each year. o GAA National Draw A no cost draw which we did not take full advantage of. We are presently promoting the 2015 version of this Draw and I would take this opportunity to encourage everyone to at least buy a ticket or two and if possible sell a couple to your friends, family and workmates. o Flag Day Great effort by all involved unfortunately clashed with Championship Game Some of these events were more successful than others from a financial point of view but the total effort of the 7 events brought in approximately 14,700 a figure that was regularly raised in one draw in the past. If we are serious about improving our facilities we will have to greatly improve on these figures. Lotto o Deserves a special mention as it remains our core source of income and we are very grateful to all Sellers and donators for their efforts each week. o It is also worth noting that we have paid out in the region of 26k for the year and despite having 32 numbers, it has been won on a regular basis (Too regular according to some). Well done to Denis Mernagh on his recent win of 16, o We would hope that we can get a wider coverage in 2015, as I can say at present, that there is plenty of room for us as a Committee and indeed all members to sell and support our Lotto much better. Sponsors. o On behalf of the Club I would like to say a special word of thanks to all those who have in any way sponsored the club during the year. As a parish based organisation we are totally dependent on the local community and in particular the Local Commercial businesses to support our ventures and when asked they have been very generous. They are too numerous to mention and I hesitate to do so for fear of leaving some one out and in one case in particular a very generous sponsor wishes to remain anonymous. But maybe I will refer to the events or items for which we have received significant sponsorship. BBQ, Michael Morgan Quiz, Web Page support, Team Kits, Field and Ground Projects. o I will single out our main sponsor Country Fresh for a mention as they have been particularly generous and we look forward to future support. o I would ask everyone to remember our various sponsors when you are considering spending a few bob.

PRO:- We have not had too much formal recognition of the Quality and ability that we have in our Club, but at least the abilities of our Pro has been recognised for his development and up keep of our Excellent Web site, which has been selected to represent Louth in National Website competition, with two nominations for Mc Namee Awards Well done Michael. His skills as a scribe are also much appreciated and his match reports are anxiously awaited for after each match. I am aware that Michael may eventually be hanging up his notepad and that is a challenge for his successor in I would also like to pay tribute to all the other Officers and committee members:- Cultural ASAP County and Minor Board reps. Football related activities-- Underage Og Sport and Juvenile.--- We have been are extremely lucky in this club over recent years to have one of the best organised and dedicated Underage committees around, That been said, there is no room for complacency and the challenge of winning the Hearts and Minds as well as the bodies of all the young footballers in the community is still our greatest challenge and one we will have to work on continuously to maintain our standards and to do that, it is essential that our organisation at underage level develops and remains strong. Thank you to the underage Committee for all their hard work in 2014, but there is still plenty of work to be done in 2015 to try and get as many as possible engaged in underage football in the community. As the minor board report shows there has not been great success on the field, but this has been influenced by decisions to play in as high a division as possible and there was some very good performances. well done to All. Youth Officer. Thank Tony for his work, A very important position, with responsibilities that we need to ensure are going to be implemented Coaching and Games A position which is at the heart of what we are doing for the development of Players and Coaches in this club. Pat has performed this position very well this year, but has indicated that he will not be available to do it next year. Og Sport Officer -- Sinead has done a great Job at this level as well as being our Club School link.

Adult Football- Ya has given a very comprehensive review of the year and how he saw the season progress and hopes for next season which we all share. Intermediate team I have no doubt that the overall feeling amongst most Players, Mentors, Committees and Supporters in relation to 2014 was one of outright frustration. Because we got so close to victory and did so many things right, yet at the end of it all we came away empty handed with nothing more than a load of If s and But s ringing in our ears of what could and should have happened. None of which is of any comfort or help,as we move into the 2015 season, unless we use it as yet another source of motivation, to reach the next level. I have promised myself that this year I would try and spare everyone and the Players especially, from my, self serving preaching about the depth of quality of the squad and all they had to do. So at this stage I think they know what is needed I would just say that the whole club is with them in their efforts. At this point I would like to pay tribute to Ollie and his team of Enda, Barney and Noel for their efforts in trying to bring the glory that is so close you can almost touch it. I know I am talking for the Committee and probably the players also when I say, that I wish the same team could have carried on into 2015 as there were some real moments of outstanding football in 2014 and I am sure another year would have filtered out any of the remaining shortcomings and led to greater improvements in Alas that is not to be and we wish Ollie all the very best in his new role with the Louth county set up a truly brave and challenging assignment at this time. And we will have to proceed under a new management structure. As befits replacing an Icon like Ollie a fairly intensive process has been ongoing for the last month and a half and I can report that following discussions with a lot of candidates that the outgoing committee are in a position to propose the Intermediate Management Team for 2015 as Jody Clarke, Enda Mc Keown and Barney Campbell, with a possible addition of one more, if they think they require the help. Junior Our Junior team continues to demonstrate the depth of quality we have in the squad, with a very good performance in the Div 4A league and only missing out on the last 4 due to the vagrancies of the competion regulations, which worked against us in achieving the last position in the top 4, by nullifying our superior score difference due to a walk over against the Blues and forcing us into a playoff against the Clans, which we lost. They also achieved a very rare first round success in the Junior Championship and great praise must be given to Jason Hoey and his 2 selectors Sean Mc Donnell and Conor Murtagh (both newcomers to the mentor role) for their work with this squad. The management team for the junior team in 2015 is yet to be decided U-21 Unfortunately this is one squad which we as a club did not do justice to in 2014 and due to a combination of a poorly organised competition by CCC, a limited panel of players to call on and a degree of competition fatigue by us as a committee, the ball was dropped! And no proper arrangements were put in place to cater for the needs of the group of players for

which this competition was extremely important. And we as a club had to give a walkover to our opponents. Whatever format this competition takes in 2015, and that as usual is unclear at present, it is incumbent upon us as a club to make proper managerial and playing squad arrangements and decisions in good time to avoid a repeat of this year s unfortunate outcome. Remembrance Before finishing, On behalf of the Club I would like to pay our respects to all who have lost anyone during the year, and as Ya referred to there were a number of Committee members who lost close relatives and I would extend our remorse to all members and supporters who have suffered a loss of any kind. May they rest in Peace. Also I would like to congratulate all those associated with the club who joined the ranks of the Married men and women and wish them and their partners all the best for the future. Finally Overall from a football point of view I think we have a very exciting year to look forward to and I wish all the Players and mentors every success in their endeavours. So all that is left to do is for the rest of us to get on with the job of running this great club and hopefully enjoy the thrill of supporting the Joes in Thank You for your attention.

Coaching and Games Report 2014 Coaching Development Since 2007 over 30 coaches have completed the Foundation & Code of Ethics training ensuring that the club meets the basic standard for Coach training and the adherence to Best Practice. Since then 11 coaches have completed Level 1 Child while nine coaches have also completed the Youth Level 1. Coaching In summary Foundation Level Child Level 1 Youth Level 1 Training completed Active in For 2015: Have qualified coaches attend workshops and build greater integration between all the age groups to provide greater focus on player development Cul Camp St. Josephs hosted the Cul Camp for the third successive year with a total of 70 players the highest number to date. The club again received high praise from all the Louth underage coaches as to the skill level of the kids and the organisation of the whole week. Thanks to Sinead Coyne who attended throughout the week to take care of the coaches, linking with parents at registration and with any issues during the week. For 2015: Hold the Cul Camp again and have other personnel from the Club to support Equipment The availability of the necessary gear and equipment has greatly improved through the financial support received through the player membership. For 2015: Training equipment available for all age groups, initial requirement will be footballs for the start of the season

Club School Link Work with both our schools is very important to the development of the club. The club is very thankful for the coaching work done in 2014 by Sinead Coyne for her work with both schools. Both schools had their share of success with St. Peters winning the O Callaghan Cup and Darver winning the Cumann na mbunscoil title for small schools in Louth. Well done to all involved and thanks to the staff of both schools in promoting the game in the schools. For 2015: To be in a position to do more work with both schools, we need more volunteers to support the coaching in either school? Training & Training Facilities Training was heavily impacted by the new programme of games that operated in St. Josephs entered teams at all age groups and with small numbers in each panel players were called into action every week period for two and sometimes three teams resulting in limited opportunity to provide the necessary coaching outside of match time. Also the availability of the main pitch due to other matches resulted in too many cancelled or rescheduled training sessions. For 2015: Club should consider entering teams at Under 14, Under 16 & Minor (not enter teams at U13 & U15). Also the preparation & maintenance of the back pitch for scheduled training would have a major positive impact on player development through regular training sessions for all.

County Teams & Development Squads At every opportunity we had our players attend regional squad competitions and for development squad trials. Four of our players made in to County squads, Craig Doherty (Minor), Adam O Connor & Jordan Mackin (Under 17) and Danny O Brien (Under 16). Adam & Jordan were part of the Louth U17 Leinster League winning squad while Danny O Brien was named man of the match in the Louth versus Meath U16 match in the Gerry Reilly Tournament in Oldcastle. Louth s Danny O Brien received the Man of the match award from Tom Melia, Oldcastle GFC Club Teams Our teams struggled with numbers and despite considerable effort by all concerned the year proved frustrating for many of the age groups. It was semi-final defeat again and again for our teams, except for our U15 who were defeated in the Division 2 final by Roche Emmets. Both our Minor and U16 squads ended mid-table in Division 3. Our Under 14 squad lost out by five points in the Feile Division 2 semi-final to St. Kevins in a game that could have gone either way with Kevins going onto win a very one sided final and represent the County in the All-Ireland Feile. Our U13 squad finished runners up to St. Marys in the Division One League and it was heartbreak in the semi-final play-off when fielding without two key players it was the

Fechins who reversed the result of the earlier round of the League. Our Under 12 squad lost out narrowly by a point to Roche Emmets in their Division One semi-final. For 2015: Reduce pressure on squads by entering teams at Minor, U16, U14 and in all age groups from U12 downwards. Secondary School Football Many of our players are attending secondary school in the De la Sale and three of our players were part of the Lennon Cup winning squad the first time the school tasted success in 10 years. Also there are four of our players involved with the Under 14 squad with three others not far from the main squad. The Club Family The club cannot function without the support of many people, the first group is our players, our coaches and the parents. With the continued support of each and everyone we can achieve much more. The second group is our administrators in the many Club committees, our sponsors and of course our wider community who support us on the field and financially. These do not happen without hard work and we need to keep it going in Thanks to the Senior Board for your continued support and to our adult teams who again this year worked around the training and games of our underage teams, in particular Ogsport blitzes on a Sunday morning. Thank you to the Committee and to all the coaches who put in so much hard work throughout the year. Thanks to players and parents for helping to make the club what it is.
