FALL WELCOME MEETING: Wednesday Oct. 1 st 2014 The Dean of Students gave a welcoming speech to our old and new students, wished them a successful year and reminded them of the rules and regulations. Afterwards he gave the chance to the students to raise their concerns, listened to their suggestions and answered to their questions. SAFETY TRAINING: Wednesday Oct. 1 st 2014 The safety training is done on yearly basis to all the residents especially to the new students. During the training some general guidelines were explained, how to react in case of emergencies and then specified on the safety measure that all LAU dorms have, such as emergency exits, alarms, sprinklers, fire extinguishers and more.
RH BBQ NIGHT: Wednesday Oct. 1 st 2014 After the safety training, residents gathered in the fountain area to enjoy the freshly prepared barbeque. The residents helped in preparing the tabboule and grilling the meat. More than 275 residents from all LAU dorms enjoyed the barbeque and danced on traditional songs. In this event all residents old and new got to meet each other.
REPRESENTATIVES ELECTION: Tuesday Oct. 21 st 2014 LAU Residence Halls this year also gave the chance for the students to elect their own representatives who will ensure that all the residents are well represented and informed and will help organize social activities together with the Residence Hall Staff. LINK: Thursday Nov. 6 th 2014 The residence halls representatives in collaboration with the residence halls staff planned a trip to LINK. 35 residents enjoyed the bowling and arcade games. Afterwards they had the chance to show their singing talents and sang along with the karaoke.
HALLOWEEN PARTY: Tuesday Dec. 2 nd 2014 This year, the girls disguised and went to trick or treat to the men s section, off course with the supervision of the RH staff, this was a big surprise for the guys. Afterwards the residents gathered in the lounge in Dorm B where they enjoyed the music, played some games and ate deserts. We had also the costume parade where residents used their creativity to wear the best costume, the winners got prizes.
CHRISTMAS PARTY: Thursday Dec. 18 th 2014 The secret Santa game started before a month, residents exchanged gifts teased each other in a joyful atmosphere. On this day more than 300 students gathered in the lounge of Dorm B to celebrate Christmas. Hundreds of gifts were there, Mr. and Mrs. Clause helped in distributing them. All enjoyed the festive songs performed by the students and of course the delicious food.
SKI WEEK-END: Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 14 th, 15 th 2015 Some of LAU residence halls students spent a weekend on the mountains of Arz. Some played with snow others went to the slopes and enjoyed skiing, others stayed at the beginners level to learn how to ski. A group wanted to enjoy the lovely weather and went hiking. At night they played indoor games and few discovered their singing talents. It was a great weekend with lots of memories and everybody went back to the dorm safely.
SPORTS TOURNAMENT: March 2015 It started on March 2, 2015 when around 90 residents formed several teams and competed against each other in sports games such as: football, basketball, ping pong, billiard, baby foot and volleyball. The teams played fairly in a great mood where everybody was winner. The Closing Event took place on Tuesday March 31, 2015 The announcement of the winners of the sports tournament and distribution of medals and trophies was in an event held around the fountain area. There were some games, music and light dinner. At the end medals and trophies were distributed to the winners.
FIRE DRILL: Wednesday April 22 nd 2015 The Residence Hall in collaboration with DOS, Facilities and Protection organized a fire drill in Dorm B. The alarms went on all residents followed the evacuation procedures and gathered in the specified gathering area. Fire Department vehicles and ambulance came also. This drill was also training to the RH staff. SCAVENGER HUNT: Wednesday April 22 nd 2015 To make the traditional trivia night more active and exciting this year the RH staff decided to plan a scavenger hunt. Six teams participated, each team of five members. The teams had to decode the clues, answer the questions and complete some tasks. All teams tried to do their best and the results were close, but one team was able to do better than the rest and got the gifts.
