2 Pic: Blyth's successful 1975 squad Who we are Blyth RFC was formed in 1961, although Rugby has been played in the town as far back as the 19th Century. After a shaky first decade the club merged with Blyth Cricket Club in 1974 and moved to their permanent home on Plessey Road. October 2009 saw the new changing facilities built, including a full refurbishment to the function/training room. Further refurbishments were completed in June In 2012, the Club was awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services - the MBE for volunteer groups. The Club now has modern facilities, which include the Bar and Function/Training Room, disabled facilities, car parking, kitchen, floodlit pitch (with a second pitch planned soon), rugby training area and cricket field.
