1 Dear Player and Parents Season Information On behalf of West Park RFC we would like to welcome your child to the club and provide some information about our activities. The Minis section provides opportunities for young people between the ages of 6 and 12 to receive coaching and competition in rugby union. Coaching is by qualified coaches who are trained and have been screened for their suitability for working with young people. We welcome parents to all training and competitions and value your support. We are keen to involve parents in the club and if you are interested in finding out how you can help, please approach any of the coaches or Committee members. The season runs from the first Sunday in September to the first Bank Holiday weekend in May. Training and games always take place on Sunday mornings throughout the season. More information about fixtures, on-going social get together s and any other info about what s going on can be found on our club web site; Some key information/dates 1. Registration All players must be registered to the club and RFU so that they can play at the start of the season. This must be completed by the end of September before matches commence in October, otherwise your child will not be able to play! (ref: West park membership form). 2 passport photographs must be provided for each player. 2. Training fees To help pay for the use of the Astroturf pitch and general running of the section a standing order of 10/month per tackling player (Under 9 s Under 12 s) and 5/month per child for U7 s & U8 s for the duration of the season. This can be paid by either: Standing order - (ref: West park minis Standing order form) In Full ( cheques made payable to West Park Minis ) 3. Minis Tour - The past few years we have gone on tour to various Haven caravan sites and played against local rugby teams. Tour usually takes place around April & deposits for vans are due around November. More information will be issued when location/date & prices have been finalised. 4. Family Race Night - A date has been booked in the clubs diary for Friday 15 th November. More information regarding tickets and raffle prizes will be available soon. Please let us know how you can help: SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION The annual membership of 40 is a family membership that gives all members access to the club s facilities. The form must be completed for all playing members in a family and at least one parent must join the club with their child/children. The donation element of can be treated as a gift aid donation and all funds are used for the benefit of the mini s section. A further 5 is required for each playing child. Parent Donation Each playing child I enclose the annual membership fee of plus by signing below I agree the club as a C.A.S.C member to treat the enclosed donation of as a Gift Aid donation. In signing this form I agree that the above named player(s) can be bound by the laws and resolution of the Rugby Football Union and its Constituent Bodies, the Seal of Approval and the rules of West Park Rugby Football Club. These are available on the relevant websites. It is compulsory for all players involved in contact games to wear a gum shield and boots must have RFU approved studs. On occasions photographs may be taken during matches to be displayed on the Club s web site or notice board. Please inform your child s coach if you do not want this to happen. 3 MINI Section Club Rules West Park RFC is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well being of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect. All are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with any of the Coaches or Committee Members. As a member of West Park RFC you are expected to abide by the following rules: All members must play within the laws and respect officials and their decisions. All members must respect opponents and make them feel welcome when visiting West Park RFC. Members should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach if they are going to be late. Members must wear suitable kit for training and match sessions, as agreed with the coach. West Park RFC kit can be purchased from the club. Gum shields for those involved in contact games must be worn for training and during matches. Please read and sign below I wish for my child to be allowed to take part in the 2013 /14 season. I agree and understand that while the club coaches and helpers will take all reasonable care, they cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury suffered by a child taking part in any of the activities unless such loss, damage or injury is directly attributed to the negligence of the said coach and / or helpers in charge of the party. I acknowledge and accept that the club is not a commercial venture and that as such my child s welfare when not actually playing rugby is my own responsibility and that, save where I consider that my child is old enough to take responsibility for his / her own actions, I or another adult will remain in the vicinity of the club. 4 WEST PARK MINI S SECTION STANDING ORDER FORM FOR MONTHLY SUBS For the season, subs will be collected by standing order. The form below needs to be completed and given in to your bank or arranged through your on-line banking to commence on 1 st October 2013 and the first of each month thereafter until April The cost of subs is 5 per month for tag team players (U7 s and U8 s) and 10 per month for tackle team players (U9 s to U12 s). Complete your bank details at the top of the form, inserting the correct total amount for your family. Enter your family surname as the reference. This will allow for easy checking on the section s bank statements. Please confirm with Louise Worrall once you have arranged the standing order with your bank by ing; louworrall@hotmail.co.uk, or texting on Confirming the amount and Child(ren) s name(s). If this arrangement should present you with any difficulty, do not hesitate to speak with Louise or your child s Coach. 5 West Park Mini s Section Coaches Code Of Conduct Lead by example - people need a coach whom they respect. Be generous with your praise when it is deserved. Never ridicule or shout at players for making mistakes or losing a match. Teach your players that the Laws of the Game are mutual agreements which no one should evade or break. Be reasonable in your demands on the players time, energy and enthusiasm. Ensure that all players participate in matches. The average players require and deserve equal time. Remember that players play for fun and enjoyment and that skill learning and playing for fun have priority over highly structured competition. Winning is not the only objective. Develop player and team respect for the ability of opponents, as well as for the judgement of referees and opposing coaches. Insist on fair play and disciplined play. Do not tolerate foul play, fighting or foul language. Be prepared to take off an offending player. Encourage players to develop skills and sportsmanship. Avoid over specialisation in positional play. Set realistic goals for the team and individual players. Create a safe and enjoyable environment in which to train and play. Make a personal commitment to keep yourself informed on sound coaching principles and methods, and on the principles of growth and development of young people. Never criticise the referee and touch judges during or after a match in front of players or spectators. Ensure that proper equipment and facilities are available at all times. Be responsible and ensure you uphold the ethos of the game and the RFU. Attend coaching courses. Code of conduct for Parents Spectators are requested to set a good example to the young players. Remember the age group of players taking part. Parents Code Foster enthusiastic participation. Do not force an unwilling child to play. Children learn best by example. Always applaud good play by either team. Always encourage your child to play by the laws of the game. Never scold or ridicule a child for making a mistake during the game. Never intimidate opposing team / spectators. Do not encroach onto the field of play. Teach your child that honest effort is as important as victory, so defeat is less disappointing. Encourage respect for referees and line judges. Do not publicly question decisions or honesty. Appreciate the value and importance of volunteers, coaches and referees. They give up their time and resources to provide Rugby for your child.
