14 Down on the Allotment Once again it s been a full and productive year at the allotment site in Puddingpie Lane, with all allotments allocated and the waiting list ever growing, it seems that the news of the health benefits of having an allotment has spread throughout the village or is it the wonderful barbecues that seem to have taken place throughout this year s growing season. Yes allotment holders enjoyed a Hawaiian themed summer barbecue, the allotment holders dressed to impress with their grass skirts and colorful Hawaiian shirts, it seemed like palm trees appeared from nowhere overnight along with a new tikka bar. 14 Page
15 This made a wonderful backdrop to the prefect setting. As the cocktails flowed and wonderful aromas of barbecued chicken and spare ribs cooking the allotment holders relaxed and enjoyed this fantastic social event. The allotments have recently set up it s own allotment committee, the point of this committee is to bring a proactive community feel at the allotment site, they will be responsible for running events and coming up with new ideas going forward. It is hoped that this committee will introduce new ideas into the running of the allotment site for the benefit of all, the founding members so far are Tanya Cooper, James Williams, Ruth Lamb and Emma Callanan, if you would like to join this committee please contact Sue.list@interserveps.com who will pass on your details to Tanya. They have already set up a face book page called Pudding Pie Growers and are talking about holding a plant and veggie sale throughout the growing season, selling seedlings, flowers and produce once a month (Market Day) - please look out for the advertising posters in the near future and support this hard working local community by purchasing their produce.. If you would like to join in the fun and start growing your own fruit and vegetables please contact Martin Dolton (Parish Clerk) on Page
