2 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Perth Hills United Football Club is one of the largest sporting clubs operating in the eastern hills region. The club promotes participation, respect for others, fitness and overall, fun. The aim of the club is to provide opportunities for all people within the eastern hills community and beyond who wish to play football. The Club has strong success in developing skilled players, with a number of players being selected to represent the State in national competitions, and one player to be the only Western Australian girl chosen for the Australian team. The goal of the PHUFC is to become the club of choice for players living in the eastern metropolitan region of Perth. By sponsoring PHUFC, you will assist us in purchasing the necessary training and match equipment, purchasing uniforms, purchasing in quality coaches and training for players, and assisting us in maintaining lower than average fees to enable more families and individuals to join our club. In return for your support, you will enjoy promotion of your business through our club. You will have exposure to not only our members but with visiting players from the greater Perth Metropolitan area, all encouraged to utilise our sponsors as preferred choice of business in the Hills. We have visiting teams from as far south as Bunbury and as far north as Geraldton... Imagine the exposure. The attached schedule provides some ideas about how you can sponsor our club. 3 ABOUT PERTH HILLS UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB The Perth Hills United Football Club (PHUFC) was formed in 2006 following the amalgamation of the Mundaring Football Club and the Glen Forrest Football Club. Housed at both the Harry Riseborough Oval (home and away league) and the Glen Forrest Oval (home league), PHUFC is a member of Football West and offers small sided football for ages 4 to 11 years, as well as junior and senior football. PHUFC is fast becoming one of the largest clubs in the eastern metropolitan region. The club promotes participation, respect for others, fitness and overall, fun. The aim of the club is to provide opportunities for all people within the eastern hills community and beyond who wish to play football. From grassroots to premier league: - In 2008, the management committee of PHUFC conducted a survey of its members, to ask them, amongst other things, what they wanted from their club. The response was evenly divided. Half wanted a club that was social, that provided an opportunity for children and adults to come together with their friends and to simply enjoy playing football. The other half of members wanted a competitive club, offering opportunities to the many gifted players in our teams. The PHUFC management committee has worked hard in the past three years to deliver on the expectations of both groups of members. There has been a concerted effort to expand our Saturday morning home league program, extending this to four year olds and up to nine year olds. This is a fun program that incorporates a skills training session and a game every week. In the junior and senior league, the club offers a number of teams at each age group where possible, thus allowing for the more competitive minded players to excel while still providing playing opportunities for those members who are seeking a more social experience. The club provides specialised coaching clinics for the club s coaches. This will be ongoing into 2012, to ensure that we are offering our teams a quality coaching experience and to ensure that our coaches feel supported and have access to quality coaching resources. Our Teams Seniors and Amateurs: - The Senior side of the club currently has 3 divisional teams, being two senior teams playing in the Amateur League and Reserves along with a Masters Team. Many of the players within both teams (League/Reserves) comprise of local players from the surrounding Hills area and beyond being from Northam, York and far as Beverley. The Reserves team mainly comprises of players that have risen through the Junior ranks to player senior football with their mates. The masters comprises of players over the age of 35 who are still willing to put a pair of boots on and compete in a competition amongst players of their own age. A great number of these players now contribute back to the club as coaches, referees and committee members. / 2

4 - 2 - One of the fulfilling areas the club has in promoting itself and the Hills area is by hosting a pre-season carnival where the club invites teams from across Perth to participate. Teams participate from as far south as Warnbro and as far north as Quinns. The carnival has been running for over 25years, with the support of the Mundaring Shire and local businesses. Juniors :- The juniors program includes localised home and away small sided football for 10 year olds, home and away Rooball for year olds and a divisional competition for year olds. These programs are available for boys and girls combined until the age of 15. In 2011, a total of 14 Junior teams competed in Football West competitions with more than 200 players participating each week at football grounds across the metropolitan area. Girls program: - PHUFC has a very successful girls and women s program. In 2011, the club expanded the women s program to offer a women s team, an under 17 s team and two under 14 s team (one premier league and one division one team). In recent years, a number of our women s and girls players have been successful in being selected by Football West to represent the State. These players included Emily Henderson, Rachel Sands and Emma Leaning who all played for the under 13 s State team in Canberra in April From that competition, Emily Henderson was selected to represent Australia and played in Vietnam. Emily was the only Western Australian girl chosen for the Australian under 13 s team. Mikayla Romyn played on the State indoor soccer team (Futsal) at the beginning of 2010, while in 2011 Emily Henderson and Emma Leaning were selected to play on the State under 14 s Futsal team and Georgia Brittan was selected to play for the State under 12 s Futsal team. Small Sided Football: - The small sided football program (SSF) provides an opportunity for younger players from 4 to 9 years of age to join in the game of football and to develop core skills, including ball skills and playing as a member of a team. The players are allocated into a team for the season, and each week they have a skills session followed by a game against another SSF team from the club. All training and games are played at Harry Riseborough Oval on a Saturday morning. The SSF program is an ideal forum for the younger families in our community to come together, with the players forming friendships that last throughout their school years. High Performance Centre The PHUFC has established a High Performance Centre at the club with Paul Wozny, Head of Youth Australasia for the Burnley Football Club (UK). The High Performance Centre is part of a network of such centres being established in South East Asia and Western Australia. The idea of the Centre is to provide specialised coaching to players in the region. The very best players will be provided with an opportunity to train with Burnley FC in the UK. The High Performance Centre provides a program to maximise the players full potential whilst providing realistic career pathways. / 3

5 -3- The establishment of the Centre is a fantastic opportunity for the PHUFC and is recognition of the commitment the club has shown over recent years to provide quality coaching and skills development to its coaches and players. The Club plays a direct role in assisting Mr Wozny to operate the High Performance Centre, and this will serve to further strengthen the club s coaching skills and capability. Those players wanting to secure a position in the High Performance Centre do not have to be members of the PHUFC. However, players from the PHUFC will have the benefit of regular exposure to a consistently high quality of coaching that will come from the operation of the High Performance Centre at the club. OUR FUTURE GOALS The goal of the PHUFC is to become the club of choice for players living in the eastern metropolitan region of Perth. In order to do this we need to do two key things: provide excellent facilities and provide excellent coaches and coaching resources. Our move to work with Paul Wozny to establish a High Performance Centre at our club is a key step towards providing excellent coaches and coaching resources. Our biggest challenge is the need to have better club room facilities. Currently we do not have any change room facilities for women at the club. With our expanding and very successful women s program, it is imperative that we work to rectify this situation. The existing club rooms are old and not conducive to use by the members, while the canteen facilities are too small and poorly laid out to enable a profitable canteen operation. The management committee began meetings in 2011 with key stakeholders, including the Shire of Mundaring and major funders, to commence negotiations for the construction of improved clubroom facilities.
