RULES OF ENGAGEMENT ULTIMATE WARRIOR MEDIC CHALLENGE The Ultimate Warrior Medic Challenge (UWMC) pits the best overall warrior medics from each medical group against each other in physical competition. The UWMC is comprised of six grueling events. Team members must be members the group that they are competing for. Family members and friends are authorized. To make it fair across all of the groups, large and small, each group must specifically identify no more than 20 members to represent their group for all six events. The 20 members that are identified to represent their group will be required to wear a specially marked wristband. The wristband is not transferrable. The groups are authorized to swap out the members of their teams only between events and it can only be from the 20 original members that were identified. Important Rule! Once each event begins, the team cannot substitute any members. If for any reason, a team is unable to complete an event, the team will earn no more than seventh place points. Points will be awarded for each of the six UWMC events. o 1st Place: 140 points o 2nd Place: 120 points o 3rd Place: 100 points o 4th Place: 80 points o 5th Place: 60 points o 6th Place: 40 points o 7th Place: 20 points
FIRST EVENT: KNOCKERBALL! 1. This challenge is a timed event. 2. Teams will consist of three males and three females for a total of six members. 3. The field will be marked as a heptagon (seven sided polygon). 4. Each team will provide one competitor to play soccer while wearing a knockerball. 5. A total of seven competitors (one from each group) will be on the field at a time playing knockerball. 6. The object of the game is to get a soccer ball into your own goal. 7. As soon as a goal is made, the game will reset and play will resume. 8. Since there are six members to each team, there will be six 5 minute periods. 9. Goals will be added up and points will be awarded. 10. Important Rule! When the ball goes out of bounds, only the referee can place it back into play. 11. Important Rule! Each member of the team can only play in one 5 minute period. 12. Important Rule! Females will compete against females and males will compete against males. Above is a diagram of the playing field. The green area is the actual field. The white circles represent a team member from each group. The competitors will play soccer while wearing knockerballs. The object of the game is to get the soccer ball INTO YOUR OWN GOAL. The orange perimeter is the goal line so competitors will want to get the ball across that orange line and into their respective nets. When a goal is made, the game will reset and play will resume. This will go on for five minutes. After five minutes, teams will swap out their players and play for another five minutes. This will continue until all six team members have played. Page 2
Second EVENT: SEVEN-WAY TUG-OF-WAR 1. The seven groups will compete in a seven-way tug-of-war all at the same time. Yes, you read that correctly! 2. Teams will be comprised of 5 males and 5 females for a total of ten members. 3. Seven ropes will be connected to a metal disc that will be centered in the middle of a heptagonally marked field. 4. The seven ropes will extend out into seven equal directions within the heptagonal field. 5. Numbers will be drawn from a hat to determine the rope order of the groups. 6. The group that pulls the center ring across their border line wins. 7. Only one group will win points in this competition. The number of points on the line is 35. Page 3
THIRD EVENT: DON T SANDBAG ME, BRO 1. This challenge is a relay event. 2. Teams will be comprised of 6 males and 6 females for a total of twelve members. 3. Together, a pair of team members will carry a 100 pound sandbag for a distance of 300 feet, sprint a distance of 1000 feet and together carry a 100 pound sandbag for another distance of 300 feet. 4. The team that completes this challenge the fastest wins first place, the second fastest wins second place, then third and so on. 6. It does not matter what the composition of the pairs are just as long as they are competing as a pair. 7. At the sound of the starting horn, Pair #1 from each team will pick up their sandbag and carry it BY THE HANDLES to the opposite side of the field where their Group/CC is prepositioned with their battle flag. 8. Important Rule! The sandbag must be carried by the handles. It cannot be hoisted up and carried on the shoulders or cradled in the arms. 9. Important Rule! The sandbag must be carried by both team members. It cannot be carried by just one of the team members. 10. Important Rule! The sandbag cannot touch the ground in any way. If the sandbag does come in contact with the ground while being transported, the team members must immediately stop where they are, accomplish 10 burpees, pick up the sandbag and resume the race. 11. Once Pair #1 reaches their respective Group/CC, they will grab their battle flag and immediately sprint once around the 1000 foot track. 12. From the track, Pair #1 will return the battle flag to their Group/CC, pick up the sandbag and carry it back to the beginning where their teammates are standing. 13. Once Pair #1 carries the sandbag completely across the border line and places it on the ground, Pair #2 can immediately pick up the sandbag and repeat the process. 14. Important Rule! The sandbags must not be thrown to the ground. They must be placed on the ground. 15. Once Pair #6 completes their lap and places the sandbag across the border line and on the ground, the Group/CC, who is still holding their battle flag, must run across the field of battle to their respective their team. 16. Once the battle flag crosses the border line the mission is complete. 17. Important Rule! Interference with other teams will result in your entire team assembling in the center of the field and completing 10 burpees. Page 4
fourth EVENT: FLIP YA FOR IT! 1. This challenge is a relay race. 2. Teams will consist of three males and three females for a total of six members. 3. Each member of a team will flip a large heavy tire a distance of 50 feet. 4. The team that completes this challenge the fastest wins first place, the second fastest wins second place, then third and so on. 6. Before competition commences, the tires must be selected. To make this fair, numbers one through seven will be drawn from a hat. The group that draws number one earns the right to pick their tire first. The group that draws number two picks second and so forth. 7. Three members from each team will line up on one side of the field and the other three members from each team will line up on the opposite side of the field. 8. Beginning with all of the group battle flags on one side of the field, Team Member #1 from each team will begin flipping their tire making their way across the field to Team Member #2 of their team. 9. The teams must flip their tires so that they touch the border line before the next member of their respective team can begin flipping their tire. 10. Once the sixth and final member of the team flips their tire so that it touches the border line, the three teammates from that side of the field must grab their group battle flag and run across the field to the opposite side where the rest of their team is standing. 11. Important Rule! Interference with other teams will result in your entire team assembling in the center of the field and completing 10 burpees. Page 5
Fifth EVENT: LATIMUS MAXIMUS 1. This challenge is a timed event. 2. Teams will consist of six males and six females for a total of twelve members. 3. The team that pulls their tire across the field of battle the most number of times within a 5-minute period of time wins first place. The team that pulls their tire across the field of battle the second most number of times wins second place and so forth. 4. Teams will pull a large heavy tire a distance of 40 feet each direction. 6. Before competition commences, the tires must be selected. To make this fair, numbers one through seven will be drawn from a hat. The group that drew number one earns the right to pick their tire first. The group that drew number two picks second and so forth. 7. Six members from each team will line up sitting on the ground on one side of the field (Team A) along with their Group/CC and the other six members from each team (Team B) will line up sitting on the ground on the opposite side of the field along with their Group/CCC. 8. It does not matter what the composition of the teams are just as long as there are six members on one side of the field and six members on the opposite side of the field. 9. The tires will be positioned on one side of the field. Attached to the tires are two ropes each measuring 50 feet in length. One of the ropes will be fully stretched out across the field while the other rope will be gathered up on the other end of the field. 10. When the starting horn is blasted, Team A will immediately begin pulling on their rope working together to pull the tire to their border line. 11. Once Team A pulls their tire to the border line (the tire just has to touch the line, it does not have to cross it completely) the official will signal to Team B on the other side of the field to start pulling. 12. Once Team B pulls their tire to the border line, the official will hand a WMC washer to the Group/CC. 13. This will continue for a period of 5 minutes. 14. When time is up, the horn will sound. All teams must immediately drop their ropes and remain seated. The tires must NOT be moved at all! 15. Officials will count the total number of WMC washers that the CC has collected. 16. The team with the most number of WMC washers wins first place. The team with the second most number of WMC washers wins second place and so forth. 17. In the event of a tie, the distance between the tire and the border line for each respective tire will be measured. 18. If measurement results in a tie as well, then a two minute Dragula will immediately ensue. Page 6
final EVENT: DRAGULA 1. This challenge is a relay race. 2. Teams will consist of nine males and nine females for a total of eighteen members. 3. While wearing battle harnesses, trios of team members will drag a large heavy tire a distance of 600 feet. 4. The team that completes this challenge the fastest wins first place, the second fastest wins second place, then third and so on. 6. Before competition commences, the tires must be selected. To make this fair, numbers one through seven will be drawn from a hat. The group that drew number one earns the right to pick their tire first. The group that drew number two picks second and so forth. 7. All eighteen members of each team will line up on one side of the field with their battle flag. 8. The first trio of teammates will attach themselves to their tire and stand ready for the sound of the horn. 9. As soon as the starting horn is blasted, the three teammates will drag their tire 300 feet across the battle field as fast as they possibly can. 10. Once the tire touches the border line, the teammates must work together to flip the tire over and immediately drag their tire 300 feet back across the battle field as fast as they can. 11. Once the tire touches the border line, the first three teammates must work together to flip the tire over, detach from the tire and the next trio of teammates can immediately attach to the tire and begin pulling. 12. Once the sixth and final trio of team members drags their tire so that it touches the border line, they must detach from the tire and the entire team must grab their group s battle flag and run across the field to the opposite border line. 13. Once all 18 of the team members and the battle flag cross the border line, mission accomplished. 14. Important Rule! Team members are only allowed to drag the tire once. 15. Important Rule! Interference with other teams will result in your entire team assembling in the center of the field and completing 10 burpees. Page 7
