Turn left onto Hwy 7 North and follow for 1 mile. Take the Sisk Ave exit and stay to the left. Continue on Sisk Ave to the second stop sign. Turn left and continue straight, Oxford Middle will be on the left. Once at the school go to the rear of the building and park. From Tupelo, take Hwy 6 West to the Water Valley exit. Turn right onto Hwy 7 North and follow for 1 mile. Take the Sisk Ave exit and stay to the left. Continue on Sisk Ave to the second stop sign. Turn left and continue straight, Oxford Middle will be on the left. Once at the school go to the rear of the building and park.
3 EVENT DETAIL UNIFORM: BOOTS AND UTILITIES (COMBAT BOOTS, BLOUSED TROUSERS, WEB BELT, GREEN T-SHIRT OR UNIT T-SHIRT); WATCH CAP, GREEN SWEAT SHIRT AND BLACK GLOVES ARE OPTIONAL. TEAMS: FIVE CADETS PER TEAM PER EVENT EXCEPT FOR THE SQUAD COMPETITION WHICH WILL CONSIST OF FOUR CADETS PER TEAM. ALL MALE AND ALL FEMALE TEAMS WILL BE SCORED; CO-ED TEAMS WILL BE SCORED AS ALL MALE. NO REQUIREMENT ON WHETHER YOU USE THE SAME TEAMS THROUGHOUT OR MIX AND MATCH, JUST HAVE FIVE-MEMBER TEAMS AT EACH EVENT (TEN FOR TUG-O-WAR). JUDGES/JUDGING/SCORING: JUDGES, JUDGING AND SCORING WILL BE HANDLED BY OLE MISS ROTC CADETS, LOCAL MARINE CORPS AND ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS. THERE WILL BE 1 ST PLACE TROPHIES ONLY. ONE PER EVENT (MINUS DIZZY IZZY), OVERALL 1 ST PLACE AND THE COMMANDERS AWARD FOR (MOTIVATION). THE EVENTS WILL BE DONE IN THE ORDER SHOWN. IN MOST CASES TEAMS WILL BE COMPETING AGAINST THE OTHER TEAMS, NOT JUST FOR TIME. THIS WAY ALL OF THE CADETS WILL BE IN ONE AREA WHILE AN EVENT IS BEING CONDUCTED SO THEY CAN MOTIVATE AND CHEER FOR THEIR TEAMS! EVENTS: 0900-FORMATION (BOX), WELCOME ABOARD BY OHS PRINCIPAL MR. BRADLEY ROBERSON ALL UNITS STRETCH IN BOX FORMATION (LED BY THE CADET CO s) 0930-FORM FOR 1/2 MILE RUN IN RANKS OF FOUR ( SEE ATTACHMENT FOR ORDER); SMI S LEADING THE RUN (OPTIONAL OF COURSE); MI S MAY FOLLOW THE FORMATION FOR SAFETY/ STRAGGLERS (AGAIN, OPTIONAL); CADET CO S TO THE SIDE FOR CADENCE COMPANIES SEPARATE AND STRETCH/GET MOTIVATED YARD AMMO CAN RELAY TWO-30LB AMMO CANS CARRIED 200 YARDS BY EACH CADET ON THE TEAM. 6 JUDGING SYSTEM Scoring will be by the 5-point method. A first place team will receive five points; second place team will receive four points and so on. Any teams after fifth place will receive no points. For the overall award the team with the most combined points wins. As teams finish each event the judges will then report to the score-keeper with their school names and times. The Commanders Motivational Award will be voted on by the instructors. If they cannot decide, the most junior instructor will have the final vote. 200 Yard Ammo Can Relay: Each team will be in line behind the goal line with the first cadet standing at attention; on the command go the first cadet will pick up both ammo cans, run to the far goal line to the right side of his/her cone and around the cone and back to the start placing the ammo cans past the starting goal line. The next cadet will pick up the cans and repeat until all five cadets have completed the relay. If a cadets knocks over a cone he/she must stop and replace the cone before continuing. 7-judges one at far end to judge going around cone 6 at start to keep time Head judge will give the commands: ready, set, go at the command go all judges will start their stopwatches in case of close races. Two Minute Sit Ups: Teams will line up in two columns at the goal line facing an opposing team. The teams with their backs to the football field will compete first. The opposing team-members are the counters. The starting position will be the down position with the hands on the chest and feet placed flat on the deck. The counter will sit on/hold the feet firmly in place. On the command Go all competing cadets will begin and complete as many sit ups as possible in two full minute. They must keep their arms on their chest, touch the forearms to their thighs and touch the shoulder blades to the ground to complete one full sit up. The counters must count loud enough for the opposing cadet to hear. Cadets may rest, but only in the up position.
7 Ammo Can Lift: Teams will line up at the goal line facing an opposing team. The teams with their backs to the football field will compete first. The opposing team-members will be counters. At the command go each cadet will raise the ammo can until their arms are fully extended, bring them back down until the chin shows above the ammo can and repeat for two full minutes. Head judge will give the commands: ready, set, go The competing team will be at attention; on the command ready they will grab the ammo can and stand; on the command set they will bring the ammo can to the starting position under the chin with the carrying handle facing outboard; at the command go cadets will start lifting. 100 Yard Litter Carry Relay: Litters will be placed perpendicular and behind the goal line. Each team will have one cadet on the litter with the litter on the ground. On the command ready the other four cadets will bend and grab the litter; on the command set they will stand; on the command go they will run/walk to the 50 yard line to the right of and around their cone and back to the starting position ensuring the entire litter is past the goal line; they will switch the cadet on the litter and continue this until all five cadets have ridden. If a cone is knocked over, the team must stop and fix the cone before continuing. 7-judges one at far end to judge going around cone 6 at start to keep time Two Minute Push Ups: Teams will line up at goal line facing an opposing team. The teams with their backs to the football field will compete first. The opposing team-members are the counters. The starting position will be the down position with the counters fist underneath the competing cadets sternum. On the command push up all competing cadets will rise to the up position; on the command go the cadets will complete as many push ups as possible in two full minute. They must keep their body straight, arms must extend fully in the up position and the chest must touch the counters fist in the down position. The counters must count loud enough for the opposing cadet to hear. Cadets may rest, but only in the up position.
8 Squad Competition: The squad competition will begin with one team going first, followed by the other teams at 4-minute intervals. The commands will be ready, set, go on go the team will sprint 100 yards past the Athletic Complex where the team will Evac one member and supplies 120 yards to the Landing Zone (LZ). The team will transition to the firing range firing three rounds each in the standing position. After all rounds are fired the team will sprint 100 yards while traversing obstacles and carrying a 35 pound sand bag. Teams will sprint to the pull-up bars and complete a two minute pull-up challenge (This is a combined team score). The culminating event will be a 50 yard team tire flip to the finish line. Judges: 4-at the starting point to keep time 4-at the Evac point 4-at the Firing range 3-at the Sand bag carry 3-at the Pull up bars 4-at the Tire flip Dizzy Izzy Each team will be in line behind the goal line with the first cadet standing at attention; on the command go the first cadet will run to the 50 yard line, pick up the baseball bat, place hands on small end of bat, place forehead on hands, spin around the bat ten times leaving the base of the bat on the deck. After this, attempt to sprint back to team mates touching hands with the next cadet. The next cadet will repeat until all five cadets have completed the relay. No judges Tug-O-War One ten-cadet team per unit (5-male, 5-female) Single elimination Teams will line up on the ropes staggered in the down push up position with feet touching the ropes; on the command push up, teams will perform a push up; on the command go teams will turn, grab the rope and pull until the whistle blows. Judges: 2-at each fight; both watching the flag to see when it completely crosses the cone.
