2017 middle school SUMMER PACKET

HOW TO BE IN THE KNOW The Reeths-Puffer Football staff works very hard to make the activities of the Football Program easily accessible by the community. Below you will find all the ways you can ensure that you are in the know. RP Football Official Website: RpFootball.com Coach Jewett s jewettk@reeths-puffer.org Like us on Facebook: RP Football Program Follow us on Follow us on Instagram: Rockets_Football Add us on Snapchat: RPFootball2017

Sign-ups? There are no official sign-ups for Middle School football. Players simply show up to the summer and fall calendar dates, turn in the necessary forms (physical, parental consent, and pay to play) and they are on the team. Also, there are no cuts in football. We want every athlete interested in playing to be a member of the team.

1. Physical Form (see next page)* 2. Parental Consent Form (issued in August) 3. Pay-to-Play Form (issued in August) Important forms *The Football Program has arranged for your son to receive a free physical on Wednesday, May 31 st from 3pm 5pm at the Football Fieldhouse at the high school. *Please have forms filled out (health history and insurance portions) prior to this date to save on time. We want to get everyone in! *Return all forms to the MS office or to your son s coaching staff.

EQUIPMENT QUESTIONS / fees - Now that your son has reached Middle School, all of his equipment, except cleats, are free! - We do offer optional padded girdles, which are preferred by players, for $20. This price is about $20 cheaper than anything you will find at a sporting goods store and they are very high quality. - Beyond cleats and a possible girdle, the only other fee to be on the team is the Participation Fee. This will be outlined in the Pay to Play form issued in August. Note: there will be exceptions given to those on free or reduced lunch. - IMPORTANT: For all summer and fall dates, players should bring with them to practice the following items: Athletic clothing Cleats Tennis Shoes not sandals (in case of rain) All equipment after it has been issued

Scheduling for next school year It is strongly recommended that student-athletes in the program follow the 6-year plan for strength training that the Varsity coaches and area strength, speed, and conditioning professionals have devised for them. The 6-year program has been constructed to deliberately enhance players strength, speed, and agility at every stage of their development through their middle and high school years. The program will allow players the chance to realize their fullest physical potential to help them succeed in each of the sports they compete in. For Middle School, the course title in the Curriculum Guide is: INTRODUCTION TO CROSS-TRAINING A = 1 st Semester B = 2 nd Semester

Here are some helpful tips Although not mandatory, summer dates are very important for player development and team progress. We want to strive for 100% participation! 2. Arriving minimally 10 minutes early to all times listed is important for being able to start practice on time (equipment issues, dressing the field, etc.). 3. Arriving 30 min. early to practice once equipment is issued is always a good move! 4. Physical forms (attached) and Parental Consent Forms (issued in August) need to be returned to the MS office. 5. All equipment, except cleats, is free! We do offer padded girdles (preferred by players) for just $20 (about $20 cheaper than what you will find at a sporting goods store).
