2 About Us Adelaide Footy League (trading name of SA Amateur Football League Inc) is one of Australia s largest senior Australian Rules Football League. The League, formed in 1901, has 80 clubs and over 100,000 registered players, officials and supporters. There are over 133 games played every week of the minor round and 700 official Adelaide Footy League umpires ensuring a safe enjoyable game environment. 52 games on average are played at ALDI Arena (Thebarton Oval) per year. The League provides and promotes opportunities for individuals in metropolitan Adelaide communities to participate in Australian Rules Football in an accessible and safe environment. We are a not-for-profit organisation that uses all profits to assist in developing the League, its clubs and its facilities. Adelaide Footy League headquarters is situated at ALDI Arena. In 2014 the SA Women s Football League partnered with Adelaide Footy League and implemented its own board that is currently responsible for assisting with the development of women's football in South Australia and working with the Adelaide Footy League to improve administration and processes for the betterment of the League and its players, volunteers and officials. In 2017 the League will add 2 more divisions to its fixture. 27 Not for profit organisations have used ALDI Arena in 2016 as a venue to hold events whether they be sport or community based allowing us to pay forward our own successes as an extension of our goal of being recognised as not only a Not for Profit in our own right but one that is supportive of other Not for profits less fortunate than ourselves. West Torrens City Council, The Lion Nathan Brewery, Sherrin, BANK SA and Channel 9 continue to provide a financial base for us to assume some security in the decisions we make and we are currently negotiating renewed terms for a longer tenancy at ALDI Arena where we plan to further entrench ourselves and continue to develop a platform based on stability for the 80 member clubs of our League. ALDI Arena has become synonymous with the Adelaide Footy League and will continue to allow us to strengthen our footprint as the sole metropolitan football competition in Adelaide and the preferred destination for men to play football. 3 Media Release 2 March Last night The League launched our 2017 Footy season to over 200 guests at ALDI Arena. There is a change in footy and you will see it firsthand said MC Ben Hook. In 2016, our Executive Management Team undertook a programme of self-appraisal which primarily centred around our purpose of the day, our purpose in the future whilst acknowledging the role our League has played in the past. We reaffirmed our stakeholders, revisited our strategic plan and ensured we understood who and what we are. Football is the most obvious answer but the Community and the role our Clubs play in it is the most compelling. Football Clubs are community Clubs and play a powerful role in assembling communities as well as ensuring younger generations are engaged on a positive platform. Our League but more specifically our Clubs are here for those that love the game, whether a player, an official or a volunteer. The subtle change to Adelaide Footy League is very deliberate. Footy represents change and as a League we are being challenged to embrace that change with a whole raft of considerations but what won t change is our resolve to provide a safe community to play football, a safe community to volunteer, a safe community to umpire and a safe community to simply be a member. As we achieve these milestones we will be Strengthening Communities Through Football.
